Alright, I just loaded an older save and executed Anders, not gonna lie, I got a bit teary eyed, but that was because I was in a romance, so the dialogue felt really sad. Not keeping that outcome, just wanted to see what happened.

So, yeah. The kiss was pretty wonderful, and the love scene was not nearly as embarrassing as it could have been. That being said, I am the weirdest of weird because the thing that made me awwww the loudest was clicking on the lute by the fireplace and having Hawke muse over his lackluster lute playing skills. It has put the best image ever in my head, both of him awkwardly serenading Hawke and Hawke having Varric stealthily teach him a few bard skills.

Now allow me to go to bed and have fun pretending that this thing will turn out the happiest of happy!

Oh, totally didn't see you could click on the lute! Will have to do that!

I just finally got to the part where you can get him over to your mansion. Dang, but that is a very sweet romance, from the kiss to -- yes -- the love scene. I thought it was very cute. His line about having spent three years every night aching for you is just... GAH! Posted Image

And then sweet Varric, being a good friend and expressing concern about Hawke shagging a possessed mage. LOL Yes, Varric, I've already read the forums and spoiled myself terribly. But I can't stop myself!

And you're not the only weirdest of the weird, Surely! When my rogue was FINALLY able to win him over, I could not get this song out of my head. Seriously. Awesome classic rock love power ballad complete with everyone waving lighters back and forth to the beat (or, I suppose you mages could alight your staffs and sway them back and forth Posted Image ).

ThreeParts will have to add it to the Anders mix whenever she updates it again (um, along with this song and this song, in light of the terrifying spoilers... too soon? Posted Image

Somehow I doubt there's a medium ground for Sebastian and Anders. There's no ground for you to reason realistically on a point that Sebastian would be able to accept.

Considering they're more or less sniping at each other the moment you put them in the same party together... no, I don't think so either. (Although I snorted when Anders pointed out that Sebastian has a carving of Andraste on his belt buckle and snarked about Sebastian "shoving the Maker's bride's head between his legs every morning". Maybe I'm biased, but I gotta agree with Anders on that count... plus okay, Sebastian strikes me as the awfully paladin sort. D:)

"Is... is that Andraste's face on your crotch?"

Oh, dear, I had to actually pause the game after that exchange because I was dying laughing so hard. DYING. LAUGHING. Posted Image

This sounds  like it may work out to be interesting. My F!Hawke is romancing Anders on what is my Amell import (Alistair's Chancellor girlfriend)....muahahaha

Tee hee, my Amell did the same thing.  She was an ambitious little hussy.  I think she'd approve of her mage cousin Hawke; they seem like two sides of the same coin so far.  They aren't bad people, just a bit power-hungry.

Speaking of power, it's interesting just how opposed Anders is to blood magic and consorting with demons.  I do understand it, since the mages who dabble in those things are only hurting the reputation of mages everywhere.  But at the same time, Anders certainly understands what it means to do whatever it takes...

Anyone know if he has dialogue about Hawke being a blood mage?

I had Merrill with me as well, and Anders had more dialogue then her, but both contributed to the conversations in the first stage of Avelines quest. I also finished Anders Quest and sealed the deal before this one, and Aveline commented on my Hawke and Anders relationship.

I enjoyed it, and it added even more sweetness to the quest.

Playthrough no.2 go! :P

I've barely noticed any interparty banter about my romance though sadly. Varric kept making fun of Anders saying he seemed less broody since we hooked up and then my uncle commented on him moving in and said "Well I guess I know who's the girl." Bastard -_-

Haven't heard anything from anyone else. I figured Isabela would be ALL over it. Also kind of sad mother or Carver didn't comment on my flirtings with him at all.

I only just bagged Anders, so there's not been too much time to hear party reactions. But I got Isabela to comment on it (totally accidentally). I had also just gotten the "ship in a bottle" gift, so I was originally going into the Hanged Man to give that to her. This was literally just after having "special time" with Anders. And the first scene with her had her grilling my Lady Hawke for juicy info on our "threesome" and she kept poking fun at Hawke about getting Justice "involved" ("What? Afraid he might smite you? A little smiting can be fun. Actually, I could go for some smiting right about now."). I actually had to click on her again to get the gift-giving scene. LOL And then Varric voiced his concerns about getting involved with a possessed mage ("Friendly Concern" actually pops up as a "go see Varric" quest). Haven't heard anyone else pipe up yet.

To the poster ealier who did the Aveline/Donnic Quest of Absolute Hilarity -- what did Aveline say? My playthrough was almost identical: just had the Anders romance scene, and her quest was my very next stop with Varric, Anders, and Merrill in tow (Merrill is adorable... "A dowry isn't necessary unless you're courting him." *pointed look from Aveline* "(gasps, makes giant elf eyes) You're courting him!"). Hawke and Anders shared their cringes at Aveline's wooing attempts, but Aveline didn't say anything about our new relationship. Posted Image

You know, I actually wondered if he's trying to convince himself more than anything else. He never did approve of blood magic in Awakening, but now it's like NO. BLOOD MAGIC WRONG. WRONG, OKAY? WRONG! I remember him pointedly explaining to Merrill the difference between demons and spirits of the Fade, and I thought it was because he was trying to rationalize the fact that he's got Vengeance sharing a body with him. Like, "Yep, I made a deal, but it was with a spirit of the Fade. There's a difference. There is."

I friendship romanced him with my mage Hawke *points to avatar*.... they ended up being awful influences on each other but damn if they weren't adorable together. I don't think my non-mage characters will be as accepting or forgiving, though ._.

I swore at my TV when Anders blew up the Chantry. I had a feeling something was up. Reading his codex, hi change in behavior, his different outfit. I sense something would happen and I could not believe what he did. He became the very thing he didn't want to become and triggered the war.

I won't say what I did, the fangirls might beat me up D:

I wouldn't beat you up. I stared at my screen a long time trying to decide if I would do just that. It's funny, going into the end I figured he would do SOMETHING bad, and was like "But whatever, I'll forgive him, it's fine." But then what he ACTUALLY did ... That was a lot more terrible than I expected, and I had a lot harder time not stabbing him for it than I would have thought.

It was awful, and it was great.

This. This this this.

I love Anders. If I hadn't been a devoted fangirl of Alistair back when DA:A came out, I would have been sorely pissed not being able to romance him. So his whole "I'm going crazy and will do something crazy" didn't bother me... Until he did that. I liked the Grand Cleric, and I thought it was so extreme. I had to pause my game for ten minutes to decide whether what he did was stab-worthy. My fangirl heart won out and my FemHawke and he ran off together, but damn. Way to make it hard on a chick. At least I didn't like Logain when Alistair raged for him to be executed.

Still... <3.

First let me say I'm a male player.

I was intent on making Anders my Mage FemHawke's romance, but during the game....I was like...Jesus **** dude, you're insane...so she slowly drifted away from him...and into the arms of Fenris.

Yeah, It's pretty cool how the Fenris/Magehawke Dynamic works...it's a real...drama filled one.

I gotta admit I sat staring at my screen with my mouth agape for a while, just thinking "Anders you little ****..." My Hawke was hopelessly in love with the dude and had a fairly firm anti-templar stance himself (being chased around and persecuted his whole life kinda turned him on that path), so he was more compelled to forgive. Had I been in that position, as much as I like the guy... I dunno if I could have let him go. This game had a lot of choices that were very difficult, but this was definitely one of the most for me as a player.

I honestly can't remember what she asked, it was either how they got together or something else entirely BUT my Hawke responded to her by saying she and Anders weren't the best example. Sorry, I can't remember it and I am still reeling from meeting Meredith and Orsino for the first time. Finally gotten to the third Act...and I lost Isabela, I let her go with the book:crying:.  I miss that Hot Saavy Mess.

I think he may be.  He probably is trying to convince/console himself more than anything.  "See? I'm not totally crazy.  There IS a line I won't cross, it's there!  I promise!"

Poor, poor Anders.  He is officially the King of Woobies now.  I don't know if I'll ever be able to resist romancing him.  I zipped through my first Hawke; now I'm replaying it and taking things more slowly.  I want to romance Fenris, but I don't know if I can ignore those big brown woobie eyes... even if they are also the eyes of a bipolar and demon-possessed terrorist.

Haha, agreed. Anders romance plays waaay too hard into my love of "us against the world" relationships, especially with a mage. I am so easy, but I will resist and be less forgiving this time around

I think I have some glitched dialogue in my Anders romance.  I didn't realize it until just now when watching a YouTube video of it.

Anders says "It would kill me to lose you", and then in the video Hawke says "You aren't going to lose me."

I've tried all the dialogue options, but my Hawke ALWAYS says "This isn't going to fix that".   WTF is she talking about?  This is friendship path, BTW, and the YouTube video seems to be as well.

That's strange. I got the "You aren't going to lose me." line as well.

Also, the sarcastic option there is ridiculous.
Anders: "I love you."
Hawke: "Want a sandwich?"

Anders is a great character because he single-handedly caused Rayin Hawke - a mediator through and through till the end - to side with the Templars. When Anders followed through with his plans, he not only did exactly what he said he was doing - he also destroyed years of my Hawke's careful work, planning, and effort. To say Rayin was disappointed would be an understatement.

So yeah, he was well done.

I... did not like Anders, sorry gals. I liked him in DA:A, I liked the idea of him coming back but his single minded obsession (which is funny because that's what the idea of the character was in DA2) just pushes me away from him.

Execution was the only option for the guy, pro-mage playthrough or no.

Which is why I didn't romance him, I might go back and tell him to leave.

I kind of suspect my mage Hawke will be less inclined to forgive Anders, because he's clearly crossed over into "Stop being on my side; you're making my side look bat**** crazy" territory.

Heh, it's a matter of perspective. Depends on just what kind of character you are playing.
