OK truth.. Anders in Awakening did not do it for m but in DA2 he is hot...

Is it just part of the "Oh nooesss he hit on me" or is it just ugly?

Edit: There are many mods that replace Anders faces, but I've yet seen any thing that fits Anders better than the default. Geez, I love his nose and CC can't make such nose.

I don't like his new hairstyle or his lack of earring, but his face is not ugly, no.
And I will suckerpunch anyone who tells me it is. <_<

I saw those too. I know he's obviously is not going to be everyone's cup of tea but... "Ugly"?

I actually prefered his appearence in Awakening. Originally I had him modded, but I removed it because something about his default was hot. I can't even describe it. I usually don't find that type of facial structure to my liking, but there it is.

In DAII I also think his default is deliciously hot. It grew on me, and I now associate it with happysexytime dreams.

I do really wish he'd kept his earring though.

His new hair isn't that bad. And he probably had to sell the earring to get to Kirkwall or for supplies for the clinic. It's just scary how thinner he is in DA2 than in Awakenings. Almost looks like Justice has tempered him into finely honed blade, or Justice has been suppressing Anders' apatite to make it easier to influence him.

I like Merrill's VA.. She's Gwen from Torchwood. Hell, ever time she says something I look around for Harkness.. Mmm Anders and Harkness. *sigh* John Barrowman *drool*

Her voice is fine, the acting could be better. She's a little underwhelming all and all. Then again my point was mainly that she's just not a very good storyteller. Some are, she's not.

Anders' original face wasn't to my taste, but I wouldn't have called it ugly. Not by a long shot. I'm glad that I found amod that matches my taste, because it makes him more easily friendmance-able for me, but even without that, I didn't completely shy away. Just with the new look - to me, he now makes it a hard choice between him and Fenris. Considering my fondness for elves, that's saying something.

Nathaniel was well written, but I wish he would have held onto his anger just a littttle bit longer. I parcel out his personal quest so that he stays surly for at least one main quest. My Cousland feeds off of his hatred, at least until they're both like..."Oh, so you're pretty awesome. Let's be friends?"

And, in my head!canon where my Cousland and Anders lived happily ever after, Nate is in constant danger of being sex ambushed by the two of them. I don't even think they're that attracted to him, but it's Nate and, therefore, fun to try to get one up on him.

I actually like that he didn't stay angry too long.  I think he always had a small resentment for his father, but when he found out what he had really done, he didn't stubbornly try to cling onto whatever virtue Rendon might have had.  He doesn't dwell on it any longer, and then focuses on rebuilding the Howe name through his deeds.  And he looks like that he's doing pretty well for himself in DA2, and he still has his sister and nephew.  So sweet.

... LOL sex ambushed.  I'm sure Anders would have been down for that.

I can see people being turned off by the whole handsome hobo thing he has going in DA2, but his face is far from ugly and, once he gets into his This Is It outfit, he's downright sexy.

Of course I have a thing for disheveled men with stubble and being a Lost fanatic has taught me to look past the blood, dirt and sweat-stained clothing to see the impossibly hot person beneath.

For example, I think Meredith's a great character precisely BECAUSE I hate her guts and enjoy seeing her get lyrium fossilized.

I would love to revisit Kirkwall in DA3 and see if fossilized Meredith is still stuck in the Gallows courtyard.

And _yes_ to this discussion (know I'm late to the party - you folks go so fast, and apparently no one on this thread but me needs to sleep! ^_^) on rich and robust character development. I love that you can have a believeable argument with Carver, complete with angry sibling rivalry, but still have him at your back when the **** comes down at the Gallows. My canon Hawke is that way with Aveline, too - they're virtually family, but that doesn't mean they agree.

Friendship/Rivalry>Approval, and I hope it stays in DA3.

I would like it more if there was line not to cross... For example rivalry with respect where there is things that can be done or said like taking Oranna has a slave for Fenris or Killing mages on the spot (non-blood ones) for Anders that should not be leading to : "I dont know if I want to kill you or Kiss you"

On the whole though I do love it and I hope it stays too

Anders... sorta has a "line you cannot cross" in in Act II if you're in a romance. During that Night Terrors quest, if you accept the demons help and don't kill the demon later on, he'll leave Hawke for it.

Which I'm sure he still says "You've been a great help/You're a good friend. Better than I deserve." when you click on him aftet the fact.

I imagine they'd have to get her out of there or it would cause trouble, but now I'm picturing her, like, fused to the spot, and guys with pickaxes and crowbars trying to get her detached from the stones....  ;)   ("Don't chip her leg off, and don't you DARE try to take a souvenir!")

If you try to flirt with him in the Questioning Beliefs conversation after that, he'll say "You made it clear that we're just friends, and I'm fine with that." So, basically, he can't love someone who made a deal with a demon, but he can be friends with someone who has made a deal with a demon.

Well he wouldn't be happy if Hawke took a leaf out of his book, would he?

Yeah that whole "nobody calling Hawke out on blood magic" kinda irks me.
Just ONE dialogue option would be great.

Anders: So....we've got to talk.
Hawke: Yesss?
Anders: You're a blood mage. You do realize that it's hard to be friends with a known blood mage and fight for mage rights?
Hawke: No more harder than fighting for mage rights while being an abomination, I would assume.
Anders: Touche, my love. Touche.
Hawke: Glad we settled that.

LOVE THIS! :wizard:

Seriously, though, I think dialogue options for specializations are one of the things I really miss from DA:O. If you're a warrior and go Templar, your mage companions should have something to say about that. And if you're a mage and end every fight drenched in your own blood and that of your companions, Anders would probably have a strong opinion on that too.

That doesn't stop me from taking up Blood Magic and friendmancing Anders, tho. I assume it's one of those crazy details worked out behind the scenes.

Anders: But... you're a blood mage!
Hawke: Want a sandwich?

One word:  Sawyer.  *swoon*

How can anyone think his model's ugly?

I mean, I have to admit to still being an Alistair fangirl -- seriously, even his cameo brought it all back -- but that's because he heavily reminds me of my husband's goofiness and sense of humor and... uh, Anders, right.

When I first played Awakening, I'd always thought Anders was like Al, but all grown up, and er, a lot more hedonistic. :D
