I dunno, I think Adam Howden did a fine job as Anders but I think he just gets eclipsed by some of the other VAs. I think Isabela, Varric and Fenris stood out more to me on the voice front.

He has the best Twitter.

Also I laugh because right now I'm playing Dynasty Warriors 7, and Gideon Emery plays one of the generals in the game with an American accent.  It's HORRIBLE but I can't unhear Balthier or Fenris.

Gideon Emery could talk at me in a cringe-inducing American accent and I would probably still enjoy it. ohgodkillmenowimsuchafangirl

Dat scar. Or maybe it's because I have a thing for good looking hobos (namely Anders and Basch). Oddly enough, Keith Ferguson (Basch's VA) voices the qunari who cattle prods Ketojan.

I agree about Balthier. Also, Fran was totally Chewy.

No.

"R" is one of the more fascinating sounds humans make. At least, I thnk so. It's crazy!

Try explaing that sound to a non-native speaker that has more of a flap R than the crazy one we've got.

My current theory is that he mostly pronounces them when they're followed by a vowel, but not when they're followed by a consonant or are at the end of a word.

I've obviously thought too much about this.

Yeah that was another piece of dialogue that made me grit my teeth.
His voice screamed, "I don't really care that your mother died because I'm lost in my ex-slave broodiness, but I'll give sympathy a try".

Normally, I love Fenris. But that was a fail.

He's pretty good in banter. His "the way you fondle Bianca is most disturbing" is what won me over. It'll be a long, long, long time before I even entertain the idea of romancing him (first I have to get over Anders, and then it'll be Isabela!) but he managed to claw his way up on the maybe list.

I always go "UNF" during that banter with Isabela where he says "Never stopped you before".  Something about the way he says "before"... GUH.

The "HAHAHAAHHA...hmmmm." he does in one of the first convos with him makes me want to stab myself in the face. But... I like his voice. Dunno if it really suits the character but I'll take the aural sex where I can get it.

I like Howden's voice a lot though. It's not the most remarkable, no, but it's very sweet and emotive. Plus, add in that hot-ass Boulton voice talking in his general direction and I'm just like "Heee :3"

I once heard an interview with Hugh Laurie where he was talking about using an American accent on House, and if I remember correctly, he said it was the Rs that ended up being the hardest to do consistently.  So... yeah.  It gets complicated.

Then there's us crazy English speakers with the "th" sound that we throw in everywhere, such as in this sentence, which trips up so many non-native speakers....

He is good in banter too, yeah. I actually really enjoy his romance but it sort of suffers from the same thing when compared to Anders' that Zevran's did when compared to Alistair's: that it's not really connected to the overarching story and is therefore less impactful.

Normally, I love Fenris. But that was a fail.

The BEST part about this? Is that on my first playthrough I accidentally clicked on him right before a battle and got that speech. So not only did he offer insincere sounding condolences, he delivered them in a bored tone while killing Shades and my character was just like... SERIOUSLY, Fenris? You're telling me this NOW? And then he finished the last sentence or two after the battle was over and my character was like. Um, yeah, okay, THANKS. Don't give up your day job for this human emotion thing.

It's terrible - I finally gave in and signed up for Twitter just because his tweets were funny...okay, that and I wanted to keep up on Mythbusters. As a book designer, I may be terminally incapable of tweeting in 160 characters or less however.

I like Fenris but personally I never felt that Emery's voice actually suited his "looks". First time he opened his mouth I thought "whoa".
Oddly enough, I can't really pinpoint what it is I like about Anders. Howden does an excellent job as his VA but his voice wasn't really "omg!" like Brandon Keener and Valentine.
It must be the puppy eyes.

If it was your first DA2 run in general I'd always go with an Anders romance of whatever sort. But since it isn't, I dunno. Flip a coin? They're both good.
