:< I actually liked Fenris' comfort dialogue; it was somehow sweet on the rivalmance path where there was this established tension between them. I got the feeling that he did care but just had to step over their troubled relationship first in a more troubled time.

Anders' comfort speech was all right... but whenever he says something like "I can't believe a mage would do this!" it makes me sigh. Fenris should take him on a field trip to the Tevinter Imperium some day...

Yeah Merrill's was pretty bad too... Fenris I can give a pass on with the awkward, but Merrill knows about loss.

Also Sebastian does have a cute click dialogue about Leandra, something about praying for her at the memorial or some shiz.

I think he does show up after Leandra's death. I thought Sebastian was the only one who didn't.

Oh Seb.  You heartless jerk.  XD  It took a few playthroughs for me to notice that he does have an ambient clickable dialogue about Leandra, something about adding Leandra's name to the prayer wall or something.  For the first few playthroughs, it always went like this and made me want to beat his head in:

::click::
Anders: Your mother... I'm so sorry.  I can't believe any mage would do such a thing.
::click::
Fenris: I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose your family.  Anything I say would be insufficient; I'm sorry.
::click::
Sebastian: I think Grandfather is smiling down at me now, to see me holding his bow.
Hawke and Me: <_<

hahahaha oh Maker. Poor Seb. He's just the master of bad timing isn't he?

I found Seb's actual line about praying for Leandra to be really sweet, TBH.  Especially considering I had Seb rivalried, and my Hawke didn't care two bits for the Chantry.

Too bad I ended up killing the poor sod :whistle:

The whole romance with Merrill is pretty bad. She's cold and self-centered. Even now she argues about the blood magic. How to be so aggressive and show no passion what so ever is a talent truly.

Anyway, Isabela's "there's other people who care about you, like...Aveline" cracks me up. Oh Izzy <3

My only problem with Seb's line was that it was the only thing he would say for the rest of the act. Not that it mattered too much since I don't often have him with me. Just that, after a while, I was like, "Okay, I get it. That was a while ago. Stop reminding me." :pinched:

With Fenris you kind of have to just interpret him a little differently. That he showed up at all and made the attempt says a lot, even if what he says is awkward. I kind of like that, and the looks he gives you at certain points that say what he's feeling better than he could by verbalizing. I like that the two male LIs have such different vibes.

I know, I even like Seb in fanfiction XD

And err, about the whole Fenris comforting thing, I still think Anders and even Isabela are the type of people I'd rather have around after losing someone close, especially given the emotional turmoil that Hawke went through with Leandra. Even just a friend Anders or a friend Isabela than as an LI would have been better than Merrill and Fenris coming in immediately after.

Is it too late to suggest more outfits for the Flash dress up Anders app? Are crazypants on the list? It's not Anders if he's not wearing his crazypants. Don't ask me what they look like. You artist type folks figure that out.

Yep, me too.

Actually, despite preferring Anders as an LI (for various reasons) I'm finding Fenris easier to write. I can better get inside his head and portray his voice. There's something about that awkwardness he has during intimate moments, the way he remains distant while not falling into the trap of being cold, the way he's so introspective (while at the same time he'd probably deny being). I'm enjoying writing him at the moment.

That said, I haven't really delved into writing Anders to any extent yet, but that's probably because I'm not entirely sure how to. Once I'm done with my 'events immediately post-end game' Fenris/Hawke fic I'll start my 'events immediately post-end game' Anders/Hawke fic and see how it goes. I'm romancing Anders again at the moment, so hopefully I'll get more insight as I go along.

(edit to say, of course Anders is in my Fen/Hawke fic, so I'm at least getting a little practice before I have to put him centre stage :D)

Having just watched all the characters' comforting scenes, I'd have to say I like Anders' the best. I may be biased though, as his is the only one I've experienced during gameplay. I do think Fenris' and Isabela's are very in character as well, but the whole Merrill thing throws me. I'd have expected far more compassion from her.

They have lots of pockets with things sticking out of them. One for a bomb, another for a map of the Chantry, another with a lacy frill of Hawke's undies spilling out. Justice is probably even hanging out in one of them.

I got a question. I am doing my first Marian Hawke run. What romance should I pursue, friendly Anders or Rival Fenris?
Please try to be objective :)

My only trouble with Anders rivalmance is that some of the dialogue options are less obvious. For instance, in Act II, some responses Hawke can make don't have clear romance markers (when they do in friendmance), which makes it confusing if you're deliberately trying to find a flirtatious line. I found myself re-loading convos a lot more on rivalmance. Friendmance is easier in that respect if you're just trying to play straight through (just my experience, though). :wizard:

EDIT: Ok, completely misread this question. Sorry! Good luck with either one - I think your question boils down more to your Hawke's personal preferences and interest level in the political/social struggle of mages in Kirkwall than anything: Anders is fascinating if you want to be involved in the mage/templar thing, whereas Fenris is less involved.

Does anyone have a good full body shot of Anders in his black Renegade coat? I have some fanart ideas, but I want some good reference pics. Plus, you know, good excuse to oggle Anders. :P

Oh, and Justice. Justice as in spirit Justice and not glowy Anders.

I think I liked Isabela's and Anders' comforting scenes the most.

Isabela has the most... comforting and reassuring lines, the kind that make a grieving person in such a situation smile. (Or feel even worse, I'm not so sure)

And Anders comfort scenes appear to be more subtle. He simply will be there for Hawke when needed. Nothing more, nothing less. You know, the kind of person to just lean onto for a while without the need to say anything.
That's how it appears to me, at least.

What I like about Anders' comforting scene is that if Hawke chooses the "A mage did this, maybe we should be locked up" or something similar (or "Do you still think all mages should be free?" for non-mage Hawke) he's still sweet and comforting and the "if you have to, take it out on me" made me d'awww.
Isabella's talk about how family isn't just about blood was really nice as well.

Hawke: I didn't try hard enough to save her.
Anders: She wouldn't want you to blame yourself.
Hawke: You don't know my mother.
Anders: No... and I'm sorry I never will.

That gets me every time. I adore Anders' consoling speech.

Guilty as charged.

I wish you could get Izzy's line about family not just being blood regardless of whether you romance her.  In an ambient banter, or something.  My Hawke needs to hear that after blaming herself for her sister, her mother, and her brother becoming tainted.
