What I'm wondering is, when Anders comes to the mansion for sexy sexy time, why doesn't he shut the damn bedroom door behind him? Exhibitionist much?

And Anders comfort scenes appear to be more subtle. He simply will be there for Hawke when needed. Nothing more, nothing less. You know, the kind of person to just lean onto for a while without the need to say anything.
That's how it appears to me, at least.

Hawke is not an automoton, able to coldly reason about the merits of dating the more stable Fenris vs. crazypants Anders.  Hawke has just endured terrible pain, and someone who is emotionally available and understanding and can communicate would trump Fenris hands down at that moment.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if Anders comforting Hawke after Leandra's death clouded Hawke's judgement about Anders more radical activities.  I don't mean that in a nasty way.  Just saying Hawke's human and has emotional needs.

I'm sure Fenris means very well, but I've seen all his comfort talk options and they all come up short compared to Anders.  Just my two cents.

Yep!  This is the man who had "robes up quickie sex" at the Circle in rather public places, and orgies with Isabela at the Pearl.  Although you'd think he'd have a little consideration for Sandal.  Jeez, Anders.  What is Sandal's effective age?  Anyone know?  I have nothing against the mentally disabled getting sex ed or enjoying intimacy as adults, just don't think of Sandal as an adult.

edit: By sex ed, I do NOT mean walking in on Anders getting his first drink of water afer wandering the desert for three years.

LOL.  I think it just slips his mind, TBH.  The poor guy's been in love with you for three years now.  He's eager to get to the sexytimes, and damn whoever might be watching

Hmm, could have sworn that the door was closed the last time I had that scene. Maybe I should go load it up again just to check...

I think Fenris knows little about comforting given his past, so I can't really blame him for his somewhat cool attempt. Also, wasn't he technically still standoffish with Hawke at that point? Anders seems to be very tender about it, and while he may not know exactly what Hawke is going through, he does sincerely want to be there for Hawke for whatever he or she needs. I found it sweet that he also offers himself as an outlet for Hawke's frustrations if you choose the "Maybe the Templars are right" option.

I shut the door manually before I talk to him post-Dissent. That way when the cutscene plays after he shows up it looks like he closed the door before he starts talking.

In my rival-mance file, though, the door does close behind him.  Unless it's just a glitch.  It confuses me, though,
and makes me paranoid that there's an entire delicious rival scene we're missing.

Yes! This! Considering that this is the same night in which Hawke had to hold his mother while she died in his arms, the last thing he would want is to sit there having this awkward moment while trying to decipher people's intent. He need's someone to comfort and console him and help him through the ordeal, which is why I found the Fenris scene sorely lacking.

I was so glad the consoling scenes were put in. I remember the first thing I thought once Leandra died was that I really wanted to run to Anders. Then, magically, the game made it happen. It was so perfect. I swear, I could have cried at that point.

I just looked at a few Youtube videos and sometimes it was open, sometimes closed. I swear it's been open both times I romanced him.

The door shut/open thing depends on whether the door was shut/open before the scene is triggered. So if you want privacy, shut the door before you go off on Dissent. If you like people to watch, leave it open!

Personally, considering EVERY TIME I DO THAT SCENE Sebastian is down in the living room afterwards, I like to leave it open. The potential for shameboners is too much fun to resist.

Honestly if I were in Hawke's situation Isabela's lines would be most comforting to me.

I imagined my poor Hawke finally breaking down into tears at some point, and Anders just quietly sitting there and holding him and soothing. Eee. Makes me all warm and fuzzy thinking about it. ♥

Also, I imagine what Bodahn and Sandal must have thought when Anders walked in the night of the first encounter, or if Anders might have politely excused himself as he passed by and went to Hawke's room. Or even Leandra sitting there and sloooowly putting one and one together as she watched him quietly slip in and shut the door behind him.

But... you bring him with and he says, "I heard what happened."

You were right there, ******. Made an inappropriate joke about finding more than a sack of bones, too.

I admit, I've been really projecting and taking Hawke's situation personally since I've recently been through a similar experience sans loved one being turned into frankenstein's monster for twisted ritual, but Anders is the type of person I appreciated having around immediately afterwards, Isabela is the type I needed in weeks afterwards to cheer me up and Fenris is the one I appreciate for showing up at the funeral, but would have punched his face in if he'd met up with me immediately afterwards.

And uh, Merrill, I don't know.

Sorry for making this too personal.

LOLOLOL. I intend to do an Anders romance at some point (OK, a full romance period at some point :?) and I can only hope for your luck.

This makes me so happy.

@Sia He doesn't say that to me, just starts off with "I know nothing I say can change anything." Maybe a glitch?

I prefer to think of that as a terrified-for-Hawke, foot-in-mouth OhMakerdidIjustsaythat  comment, rather than a deliberate joke.
