But... you bring him with and he says, "I heard what happened."
You were right there, ******. Made an inappropriate joke about finding more than a sack of bones, too.
I chose to interpret the "I heard what happened" as just the writers being lazy and wanting to cover their tails in case you didn't bring your LI to the quest.
Also, I never got the sack of bones line. Varric was the one doing all the commenting.
EDIT for top: Not an Anders pic, but y'all need to check out this tribute to Hawke and Anders if you haven't already.

Hahahaasdglkskjghe, Boulton's voice just ambushed me in the Lothering Chantry and left me looking wildly around for Hawke until I realised it was just a templar. My expression was all kinds of wtf.
On topic: Petrice is standing outside the Kirkwall Chantry during the day right from the very beginning of Act I. I kind of want to slap her.

I do think it's wrong, however, but my girl with still run off with him in the end if possible. It's a shame, I actually like the Grand Cleric.
I like Elthina too, but on subsequent playthroughs...I don't know. Inaction is still a choice, and it's one she made over and over. It's so cliched, but with power comes responsibility. She had power in Kirkwall. But instead of stepping up to her responsibilities, she hid her head in the sand and just refused to deal with it.

While I like this idea, I wonder if the populace would demand "branding" of mages, so they couldn't hide. You'd think integration would help diminish the fear of mages, but I fear it wouldn't entirely go away. Anyone writes fanfics along these lines, do let us know!

So did I. And poor Saemus. He was a bit of a tool, but I liked him.I wish he would have been romanceable too.

I see Anders’ as Hawke soul mate, for better or worse. No matter what sex you play, or which character you ultimately end up romancing, I believe he loves you madly and truly throughout the course of the game. Thus the reason he’d “drown the whole world in blood, just to keep you safe” (I adored him for saying this) even if you didn’t romance him. And also the reason I think he’s 100 times more grumpy and hopeless if you don’t romance him. It’s like the life just drains out of him. He also mentions he feels like he knows you, very early in the game, which is strange because you just met, but a definite mark of a soul mate connection. And then later that you remind him of “someone” (the Warden).
I think his bi-sexual speech is telling: He does not feel that love should be restricted by the body you inhabit, he loves the soul for the souls sake. In your case, he loves YOUR soul – the spark you put into all of your characters. He loved your Warden, even though he never acted on it, and now he loves your Hawke no matter what sex you play, or faction you ultimately support. He can't help himself.
It’s beautiful and heartbreaking, and a huge part of the reason I could never bring myself to accept giving Kirkwall the justice it needed, or Anders the death he yearned for in the end. Because I knew, no matter what I’d done, he would never turn his back on me – never see me killed.
Here’s how I see the “You should have trusted me” scene playing out for my Hawke:
Hawke stood behind Anders, assessing, and weighing, her own inner turmoil battling with her love for the sad, broken man sitting slumped before her. Yet for all the turmoil in her, all of the questioning, she knew, had always known how, this would play out.
Quietly stepping around him, she knelt, touched his hand and whispered fiercely: “I’d drown the whole world in blood just to keep you safe.”
He finally met her eyes then, confusion warring on his features. “No…!”
“You can’t die – I will not allow it. If I have to kill every person here, I WILL keep you safe. You will live.”
Anders eyes burned into hers and his voice was harsh, and grief stricken when he spoke: “No, love, you can’t do this. This is MY choice, and the burden. I will not see you damned for me…”
“Your burdens, are my burdens, and your damnation mine” she whispered, before her eyes hardened, “and next time you think to do something so rash without involving me, you’d best remember that.”
"You would do no less for me. So for now, live. Live for me.... please. I can't do this alone." Her voice cracked at the end, and she could see acceptence there finally in his eyes.
Giving his hand a quick squeeze, she stood, and positioned herself between Anders and those waiting, proclaiming quietly and firmly: "Anders lives."
<sigh>
I do love me some Anders!!

Although I'm a huge fan of Petrice getting what's coming to her, it also speaks volumes about Elthina and her damn uselessness. It's possibly another example of Elthina having her own opinions that may not agree with the Chantry's and letting her damnable inaction serve her own desires.
She allowed one of her charges to be murdered right there in the Chantry? I'm of the opinion that she saw the qunari lurking in the shadows and knew it was going to happen, just from how utterly not surprised she was by Petrice's death mere moments later. Yes, Petrice deserved it, but didn't Elthina just say that Petrice would be tried in court according to Chantry law? Seriously, STAND UP FOR SOMETHING, woman!

I loved Seamus. While Anders was figuring out his whole "I LOVE YOU BUT I'LL HURT YOU" thing, I think my Hawke was trying to get into Seamus's pants so if his dad got offed, she could be married to the new Viscount.
That turned out real well <_<

She didn't really want the trial though. Airing the Chantry's dirty laundry in public would not be a good thing. She just had to be seen to disapprove of Petrice once the scheme was exposed. If the Qunari hadn't killed her I bet Petrice would have been found in one morning in her cell having commited "suicide" before the trial began.
