I have to say, Anders really grew on me as a BFF. His selfless devotion to the Cause is really inspiring. Even after the Chantry incident, I could hardly hate him. I've always chosen to spare him, for two reasons:

1) He's a mage and every man counts for the defense of the mages.
2) I didn't have the heart to do it.

His romance is very much "awww" worthy. Some people I think complained about how you're forced to flirt with him or something. I really didn't care and took it all the way through. Boy am I glad I did!

According to the interwebs, Anders is Scandinavian for Andreas/Andrew which is derived from aner (man). So yes, manroots.

"Scandinavian" :D Must be related to "European"

It's Swedish, most likely.

I quoteth only the interwebs. But yes, Swedish makes sense.

The interwebs lacks my infinite wisdom

What you probably meant is, the name is, by its origin, Scandinavian, a.k.a. Swedish/Norwegian/Danish.

Also, I couldn't have named this site better myself :D

Anders.com, that is truly beautiful. But yes, I was suffering from lazy typing. The site I was quoting actually said "Scandinavian form of..."

I was listening to the Anders playlist while I was in the computer lab earlier and almost died when Lonely Island's "The Creep" came up.  I couldn't picture anything BUT Anders and I almost suffocated trying not to lol in front of the more studious people.

And then when the girl's part started, I just pictured Hawke and IT WAS SO PERFECT.

When you sneak into a wake and you see a beefcake NO  ANDERS  NO.

Okay, so I was rather bored and I made this to show my love for this thread. A little joke banner for anyone who wants to use it.

Is it bad that I thought about his comment about going to Ella's funeral in a very different context when I heard those lyrics? :pinched:

Maybe this is why Anders's supposed jerkiness doesn't bother me.  I'm just as bad.

EDIT: @Yami: OMGOMGOMGOMG I love it!!!  I will definitely add it, once I remember how.

Glad you guys like it. Ironically I don't have enough space to add my own banner. I will have to start cycling them or something. And now... off to make some fanart!

Wow. Never thought about it before, but Anders really did get messed up... All Circle-mages did in a way.

I still remember how bitter Jowan was when talking about his mother. And then there was that girl who prayed for her magic to be taken away. I felt sorry for her, being made to hate what she is.

And, well... my Surana and Amell got really messed up. (Why was Amell sent to Fereldan, anyway?)

I always felt that at some point or other, somebody was going to do something to cause the major templar vs. mage battle. It was only a matter of time.

If Anders hadn't blown up the Chantry when he did, and they continued their little farce of a "peace" (not quite a farce, more like a burning fuse nearing its end) who's to say Meredith wouldn't have sunk further into madness and taken the law into her own hands?

Perhaps she'd see Elthina's neutrality as siding with the mages, or being thrall to blood-magic. What's to stop her storming the Chantry and murdering everybody inside if she thinks it's been infiltrated by blood-mages?
I mean, she saw them EVERYWHERE, and she was just as crazy as Anders. Maybe slightly more so.
(Which is funny really, because the one mage (Hawke) she semi-trusts is not only an apostate, but a maleficar! XD)

Kirkwall is one big mess, and if Anders didn't blow it up, I would have! Sheesh. (Alright, so I'm exaggerating...)

Maybe the mages can find allies with certain other Chantry-oppressed groups. Like the Dalish? (Unlikely) And the Wardens could always use more recruits, if things get desperate.

Regardless, somewhere in the world, one particular Warden is facepalming. So. Damn. Hard. (Why did he/she bother saving Thedas, again?)

Yeah but...but...couldn't we have sent anonymous, taunting letters to Meredith claiming that was what the Grand Cleric was doing, goading her into stepping over the line and giving us the excuse instead of blowing up the whole damned Chantry?  At least if Anders had been honest about his plan I could have proposed the alternative, though perhaps Justice wouldn't have wanted him to lie...oh, wait.

I'm pointing people to this thread now.
"Hey I have a question about Anders?"
"Do you value humor? Do you enjoy daily dirty jokes about mpreg and staves?"
"Why, yes, yes I do?"
"Good. I'll send you the link to BSN's Anders Thread. Your life problems will be solved."

Well, I did leave it pretty open-ended...

(why does that sound like double entendre? it was not double entendre.)
