He does tell MHawke that Karl was his first, doesn't he? And that they hadn't been together for very long. There may be a good chance that he hadn't yet explored that side of his sexuality in Awakening, even if it was something he was interested in.
I always figured he met Karl after he'd arrived in Kirkwall, since I wouldn't imagine a relationship lasting from before he became a Grey Warden right up until Hawke's second year in Kirkwall being described as the two not being together long.

He actually talks about knowing Karl when he was an apprentice and that they hadn't been together in a long time.

Fair enough. They knew each other in the Ferelden circle, but it wasn't until they were both in Kirkwall that they got together? Seems odd to be able to carry on a relationship when one is free and the other is not, but if Karl could arrange to get to the Chantry in the first place, then I guess they were using those tunnels under the Gallows where we confront Ser Alrik? In that case, why didn't Karl go to the clinic, which was right there, instead of all the way to Hightown? Can mages get special dispensation from the templars to leave the Gallows if they're visiting the Chantry? If not, why didn't Anders question the idea of meeting Karl in a flaming Chantry, of all places?

I'm rambling on here, I know, but there's plenty that doesn't make sense.

NO.

Their banter between each other intimates that they might get it on. And what's so barf about that?

Velanna's a b!itch and I my Wardens saw him first!

Morrigan was a b!tch too! And people end up swooning swooping for her, despite it being bad.

Velanna's b!tchiness at the world is justified considering what people have done to the Dalish. Morrigan was a b*tch from the get-go. Plus Velanna likes Nathaniel.

Her b*tchiness is justified, her murder of anyone human 'cause they're human is not.  Post-ending Velanna is a completely different person, and as I said, I think Nate would be good for her.  Thing is, seems many of us feel very possessive of Nate!  I ship Nate/Warden so hard.  Where's that "off with Nate's pants in DA3" banner...

I like Morrigan. I do not like Velanna. The idea of her with Nathaniel makes me want to hurl and then stab her repeatedly. And probably send him for psychiatric help.

oh I never said her murder of humans because they're human is justified. That was just stupidity and selfish arrogance on her part.

Downloaded the Anders ring twice.

You know what's funny? So far, I haven't seen a single DA2 companion mod that I would be willing to download. I like my Anders the way he is, thanks. And Fenris, Aveline, Varric, and the rest, too. OK, I do use a mod to make Hawke's siblings match his haircolor, but that's it.

Oh, bother. I also use a mod that makes Anders' stubble and eyebrows match his haircolor. Bother. I guess that means I mod the companions, after all. At least it's subtle. Kind of.

Which mod allows the siblings to match hair color?

http://social.biowar...m/project/4456/

You will have to choose one of the defaults or choose preset one or two.

I got the feeling that Karl and Anders were together before but not actively so by the time of DA2. Like, they were still on good terms, but probably no longer sexually active with each other.

Hell, I would have liked it if all the companions in Dragon Age (well, the ones not being romanced by me) hooked up.
I enjoyed the banters between Nate and Velanna, and the hints of Carver having a crush on Merril/Fenris and Isabela being together. DA2 touched on it with Aveline winding up with Donnic; it would have been nice if they'd expanded the territory.
I'm not much of a JRPG player, but that was one aspect of the Fire Emblem games I really liked.

Of course I can't even imagine the ****storm that would occur over NPCs grabbing up the player's 'leftovers', so perhaps it's just as well.

I figured that they had dated in the Circle until Karl got sent to Kirkwall and that they kinda-sorta broke up but still stayed close via letters.  That makes the most sense in the timeline, at least, although Anders's dialogue does imply they were a more recent item.  ::shrug::

I like love Morrigan too. But still. Velanna needs some loving, and Nathaniel's just the one to do it.

I want Velanna and Merrill to meet each other in DA3

The impression I got is that they were together in the Circle, drifted apart when Anders ran off. And apparently Karl ran off too at some point. I think I remember Anders mentioning that Karl's the entire reason he went to Kirkwall in the first place?

What I understood him to say is that they were lovers in the Fereldan Circle, but hadn't been together in a long time. They continued to be friends and corresponded over the years, and the thing that brought Anders to Kirkwall was his unanswered letters.

I'm not sure why they met at the Chantry, but I could see the Templars allowing mages to worship, although probably not without an escort of some sort.

When Anders talks about how Justice comes out when he sees things that used to outrage him and couldn't do anything.  I got this over whelming feeling Justice is trying to protect Anders in a sense.  When Anders is at the edge he comes out, almost like the blood is on me not you. I could be overly reading into it...

That's a good point, but then if it was Justice who convinced Anders to take such drastic measures, then why should Anders pay for it? Perhaps as repayment? As a way to set Justice free? It's all very...sad, really. Anders went into it all figuring Hawke would kill him, and when s/he doesn't, Justice can't be free and Anders must live with innocent blood on his hands.

Excuse me...I'm going to cry now. :crying:

*hugs*  also the Chantry thing could be more of "I will make sure you and everyone else will be free."
Like I said before Justice and Vengeance are close to the same thing, it depends on the person where one becomes the other, if at all.

@Kawamura & leggywillow (and the others that posted while I was typing this )

That's probably the best interpretation of it, you're both right. The dialogue does make it seem more recent to me, but the timeline doesn't really allow for it unless you squint.

oh and.... High five for a fellow Fire Emblem fan!

I just wish I could lock both Anders and Justice in the Fade seperate from eachother so they could deal with their **** (unresolved anger, accepting loss, etc) but then we wouldn't have the tiebreaker at the end of the game. But fan fiction...hmmm....*runs off*

@TripLight.

In my fanfiction I broke Anders character by allowing him and Justice to talk in a thought sort of way, like they still have separate personalities. Thankfully no one has tore me a new hole on it, for the most part it has made everyone happy *Is thanking every god known to man for this*

Morrigan's brand of b*tchness was hilarious and awesome. She didn't give a crap about what others thought about her, but she obviously had a softer side if you got to know her.

Velanna on the other hand? She nearly broke down into tears when Nate makes a comment about her ears. Keep trying dearie.

He says "We hadn't been together..." rather than "We haven't been together..." which could suggest that they became lovers again after Anders arrived in Kirkwall.

Aw naw, I just think there should be a way to shoot down romanceable characters in a way that is, unequivocvally, "not going to happen, budday". At which point the NPC romance would take over.
I'm not sure I could handle competition if it were otherwise. I might start reaching for the murder knife.
Murdering the hypotenuse: it's how I show I care. (>^-^)>
