Question:

Can PC games scroll up close on the characters? or zoom in...I know the camera angles suck. I need a screenshot of Anders robes and I can't quite get a good look at them with my 360. If PC gamers can get a close up screen shot was wondering if someone would post it, front and back?? pretty please? Unless we are all in the same boat and that would make me sad :(

I can try ^_^ Which outfit? The regular one or the black one?

Edit: Top of page!

No, that definitely makes it worse.

EDIT: Because I'M not single. lol silly but that's the source of my "no fangirling over real men" rule.

Exactly. Fangirling over fictional characters is fine. Fangirling over real people is on my "do not do this" list.

I'm the same way.

Fangirling fictional characters: Fun

Fangirling real people: Awkwaaaard~!

you know i think most people would argue that the other way around would be normal. that's how celebrities do get popular you know.

anyway there's nothing wrong with being a fangirl of either or both.

I agree with signcherie.  I didn't feel like Anders always loved hawke when Hawke turned him down and pursued Fenris, but that he was then looking out for a close friend.  Especially if Hawke is a mage. I also think Fenris is by far worse towards Merrill than Anders, and Anders seems to be trying to enlighten her about Blood Magic/demonic possession, in a way trying to turn her from it.  Fenris is just an **** towards her.

I also love the depth they gave Anders character instead of just being a skirt chaser.  And I also thought there was a transition period where he is more light hearted at the beginning of the game and becomes more single minded obsessed by the end.  It also depends on who he is traveling with.  Unlike Awakenings Anders who jokes with EVERYONE, this Anders only lightheartly jokes with those companions he likes, such as Varric,  He also gets older as the game progresses because time actually passes.  Nothing is creepier than a 35+ skirt chaser.

I don't mind that he wasn't a skirtchaser. As stated, I undertsand why he's different and I figured that he wasn't straight in Awakening.

Perhaps it's because I'm a man, but I would never phrase friendly concern as "I don't understand what Hawke sees in you" and bring it up more than once. SOme might, but that indicates a level of possessiveness I'm uncomfortable with from any character. I'm also oblivious, so it's a wonder I even noticed.

My post wasn't intended to bash his fans or his character. I just wanted to explain why I found him problematic and to offer a context for why some people do that's not based solely on an act of terrorism or the fact that, as a player, I'm too stupid to not pick clearly marked heart options when I have no desire to flirt.

I have only played F!Hawke, and I am a girl, so I can really only understand the character within that context.  Most of my friends have also been protective guy friends so that line, for me, was completely understood as I described.  But like you said, a guy may very well see it differently.  I wasn't trying to attack, if I came off antagonistic it wasn't on purpose. I was just chiming in my opinion on the topic.

The regular one please!  The black one is cool, but I identify it with Justice.  I need a good view of Anders robes so I know what materials I need.  And google doesn't have good pics :(

I can't take the Maker seriously even as a fictional Diety, he's like a child who got bored with a project, got pissed when it didn't go his way, abandoned it to play COD, and only got interested in it again when a nice rack started singing his praises. Then he came...I leave you to finish that yourself.

I mean the Greek Pantheon was all kinds of FUBAR, but at least they cared about the world and people to an extent.

I LOVE GREEK MYTHOLOGY.

I'm not sure why, but Oghren always made me think of the Greek Pantheon... :?

God of the vine lol...

Oghren - Dionysus
lol
Yet I can't see him drinking wine...

What does that make the others...?

hmm.
Morrigan is for sure Hecete...

Good one.

Sten - Ares?

Yes!

Justice-Tyr!
The DnD Tyr...I just gave away the depths to my nerdiness....

Wynne-Athena.

I've got a different vote for Wynne. She's smart and all, but she's more of a Hestia to me. Athena would be too adventurous.

The greek gods only cared for humans because they required the humans worship and rituals.  Otherwise Zeus couldn't give two ****s for a person.  Now Athena seemed to genuinely care for her people, like Odyseus and Achiles.

Here ya go!

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like the DA2 console commands have anything like the free-fly camera, so I had to have him stand in one spot and run my Hawke around trying to adjust camera distance for a good shot >_>;;;

Same here. Some of my guy friends felt like they weren't being proper friends if they weren't acting a bit protective (before I married). It was kind of funny, since I was actually taller or more broad shouldered than some of these friends.

I think that protectiveness endeared Anders to me more because of similarities to my guy friends.  But to be fair, I am also protective of my guy friends, still am.  I consider them "My Guys" lol

True, but if you want a goddess of caretaking, Hestia's it. Athena usually only cares for her warriors. Hestia would be there knitting everyone socks, and trying to bathe their mabari warhounds. :wizard:

It just comes down to whether or not you can separate how you as a player would feel from your character. I am sure it would be intensely creep in real life to have some codependent terrorist abomination pining for me for six years, but in the game it's just another dramatic element that I think makes him all the better as a character. He has some truly reprehensible flaws, but I've never understood the thought that that's a bad thing and not something that lends to his verisimilitude and depth as a character.

I mean, I'm sort of weird and think his creepy codependency, hypocrisy and tendency to be a big catty bitch is horribly endearing even on a non-meta level, but likability isn't really a required criterion for a good character.

D'aww, you're welcome! :)

I did notice after posting that, that stupid Photobucket shrunk the dimentions though :(

Here are the individual pictures. Unfortunately Fraps seems to make screens look a little darker than the actual game and I forgot to adjust the individual ones. Blarg.

Those are the full size ones :)

Edit: *kicks photobucket again* all the links should work now. I hope

True, Athena is the Goddess of Wisdom and War.  Hestia is the Goddess of the Home and Hearth thus would be more caring.  But I would have to say I would rather have Grey Eyed Athena watch my back, especially in the Dragon Age!

Also Athena is a Goddess of Justice ;)
She would be Anders patron Goddess.
