Those really are the best boots in the game.  Ngl.  Love them.

If I didn't already adore Anders, I would romance him just for the boots.

Hey, here's an idea!
Hawke can wear Ander's outfit, and Anders can wear... hmm...

I also love how women are the only ones it seems who can make more darkspawn thus spread more sin and taint in the world......okay, I'm done!  I'm spliting my time between the forum and my Women's Study homework and I'm going all feminist on DA now.  :pinched:

Men don't have wombs and vaginas, so giving birth to new darkspawn would be pretty tough for them.

In a world of magic, demons, and a taint that will turn people into darkspawn ghouls, I don't see how that would be much of a problem.  It could have easily been similar to a disease spread by both sexes where those infected turn into dark spawn.  The Blight is seen as an evil sickness after all.

However, I do understand the women are the ones who produce children for any species.  Thus the :pinched: icon.

Heh.
Move over Anders, your pro-mage revolution has just been overtaken by the Thedas Feminism Movement.

(Never thought about it before though... why aren't there any female demons besides desire demons?)

Seriousness aside, the idea of the taint being able to turn men into female darkspawn could have some very amusing effects... XD

"The darkspawn are going to take me/my wife/mother/daughter/sister and turn them into flatulent darkspawn factories" is a bit more dark and compelling than "a darkspawn coughed on me". I think "what would be the most disturbing way for darkspawn to reproduce?" was closer to the forefront of their minds when they came up with that idea than "how can we best appease easily offended women's studies majors?". And I am very glad for that, personally. Political correctness is sort of lame when it starts taking precedent over emotionally evocative storytelling and worldbuilding.

Well, on a more serious note, darkspawn are not, and never were, human/elven/dwarven/qunari.  Broodmothers, yes, but not the darkspawn.  If a human (et al) is tainted they either die or become ghouls, which aren't darkspawn.

Oh i'm not a womens study major.  I'm a History/Religious Studies major taking some Women's studies classes.  But finals will be here in 4 weeks and for the sake of studying I'm using the theories learned in the class on what actually interests me instead of solely relying on Bridget Jones Diary and The Complete Persepolis...oh and Gilmore Girls *Shudders*

Edit: oh side note, women and darkspawn was only an off shot thought I had.  I'm applying the theories to desire demons being the only women in the fade.  Spirits and demons being genderless and able to chose what sex to be, and 90% chose male it seems...but like I said it is for my study and not actual feminist rantings.  But the debate is stimulating :)

SOOOOO CU TE!

You're right; Pounce is too cool to be possessed.  But Anders would definitely obey his every order.  Anders is cat-whipped.

Judging by the bush-burning thing, Ser Pounce-a-lot's been possessed by a spirit of Sigrun, ∴ he has been possessed by a spirit of Awesome and thus is a totally acceptable form of possession. (My logic is flawless shush.)

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it here, but since Adam Howden was voice acting Fenton Paddock in Lost Horizon, we can listen to few pick-up lines from "Anders" in a way ;)

Quite hillarious if you ask me ;)

You know, I never actually considered the possibility that the spirits choose their gender. I also thought perhaps there were male desire demons and female pride/rage/sloth demons that we just haven't seen (or maybe we have and never realized it; some of the sloth and pride demons aren't exactly humanoid in every way). If the desire demons are the only females in the Fade, those are somewhat unfortunate implications.

Now for something different: "Curiosity killed the cat" at 7:59. It's *so* wrong to hear it in Anders' voice

Not sure whether to die more at the godawful pick-up lines or at the terrible fake Chinese accents D8

Howden does do well at the snarky characters, though, haha...

Seriously though, I did the Fenris rivalmance once, and I'm glad I did. I thought it was good. But I am still an Anders girl at heart. And now I don't think I can romance anyone but Anders since I read this story on the kink meme (parts of it are NSFW). I will always picture Anders, back in his clinic, writing me unsent love letters.

Thank you SO much for sharing the link to this story.  In fact, thank you EVERYONE for sharing all the beautiful artwork and stories.  I've been out of fandom for so long and just off in my own little shipping world that I didn't realise HOW MUCH these characters affected other people too.  It's so moving to see and read all this love pouring out for this series and these characters (especially Anders because he needs a hug :crying:) and all this thoughtful discussion just makes my LIFE.

Also, I TRY to look at other threads on the board, I really do.  I spent a good while poking around for info on the new patch and all I saw was hate for the game and Anders.  I just want to smack them all; I'm so tired of hearing all the stuff hat BioWare did WRONG with Dragon Age II.

That's why you guys are so awesome.  This thread is diamonds.  And golden.  And glorious.

I love you guys. :crying:  Now I'm going to go back to lurking before I start suggesting group hugs or more appropriate for the thread GROUP KISSING ONOEZ.

I figured they pick their shape depending on what they assume to be the best for whatever task they're doing atm, be it seducing a human or scaring the **** out of them. So the bare tittied desire demon is kind of a reflection of the typical desires of humans or something.

And the reason we don't see different desires has nothing to do with lore, and everything to do with limited resources, of course... so we just gotta pretend.
