The few I have aren't... ahem...
And they're on my mother's phone.
She's such a cougar.

After reading the past four pages, I've come to the conclusion that you're all just a tiny bit crazy.
Just a tiny bit.

Yes, I agree with you about the humour, I just didn't express it very well. It's not only a cover, but it helps.Kioku wrote...

Yes, yes! It really gets on my wick that people are complaining about his 'transformation' from angst-free to full blown woobie, without actually seeming to pay attention to his character in Awakening. I always figured the humour was just a cover so that he didn't have to deal with all the crap in his life. He wasn't just running away from the Circle in body, but in mind as well.
-snip-
I agree completely. Well, alright, I don't think a cover was all there was to his mostly easy-going, snarky self our Wardens met, but it most certainly served the purpose of distancing him emotionally from his indubitably traumatizing past experiences. I still think it speaks volumes for his character that he has the -will- not to dwell on it more than need be, but rather look to the moment and live. Many characters in DA cannot let go of their pasts, seeking retribution or vengeance, not him though. Even with the picasso painting that has become his psyche (Thank you Ms. Hepler for sharing that insightful short story!) his focus rests on change, anyone else with his arguable state of sanity after all the sh!t he went through wouldn't have seen the plight of mages but probably rather gone on a rampage to end those who wronged them.
See, I have to say, I really don't see it like that. I don't really get the Edward Cullen thing at all. In Twilight it seems to me that Edward is saying; 'I want to hurt you, but I'm resisting.' Whereas I see Anders more like; 'I don't want to hurt you, but I might anyway simply by existing due to forces outside of my control.'Kioku wrote...
Still can't romance Anders with a fem!Hawke though.
The Edward-Cullen-esque lines he throws at her - NUH-UH. Shove it, Sparkleson, you may be written a gazillion times better than your psychotic disco ball of an alter ego, but when a dude goes all I'LL HURT YOUUU on me, I still go KTHXBYE. And I will not play a Bella-Swan!Hawke, who'd be the only character I could imagine who'd go for it. I'd rather eat glass. Trauma sits deep, tragedy that is the existence of Twilight-waste-of-perfectly-good-paper.
... yeah, I had to put that out in the open, it was killing me from the inside.
I apologize if I offended anybody. Personal opinion and all that.
Y'know, I kinda like that the playlist jumps around like that. It's like Hawke's relationship with Anders personified by jarring musical tone shifts!Threeparts wrote...
The playlist
is now up-to-date with all the suggestions I could find on GS. I'm
starting to wonder if I shouldn't split it into a couple of separate
lists, with romance songs, revolutionary songs and angst songs in their
own sections for more effective mood music.
But then I remember how incredibly lazy I am and go back to refreshing the kink meme.

I kind of see Anders as all "I have my plans that I will do regardless. You're a good person and the end result of my plans will hurt you because of that." I feel like the clinic was partly to pay back for his deeds ahead of the deeds themselves.AquilaChrysaetos86 wrote...

I played my canon fem!Hawke as someone who took this warning and said 'Okay, but there's a risk of getting hurt in any relationship, and I'm a big girl. I can take it.' Rather than a Bella sort of character, who honestly makes me weep for feminism. Ugh, Twilight, why must you ruin so many things?

Only woke up to ten pages this morning! Either the cats kicked me out of bed too early or you guys are slowing down!
I've only just started TSMedieval, so my throw-away tutorial game (All hail the kingdom of Neem!) is littered with my WoW RP guildies. A Ferelden will definitely be on the books once I have got everything figured out. You know, if I resist the urge to recreate them in TS3 first.

I'm not certain, but I don't think he's planning on blowing the Chantry to smithereens until Act 2. So I can't see him running the clinic and warning Hawke off as being solely for that reason. I got more of a 'Well, I'm an apostate and an abomination to boot, in a city full of over zealous Templars. It's clearly not going to be pretty, and I doubt you want that.' vibe, in the first act anyway, which is when he says the line. I can see the warnings in Act 2 being more like you described though, but they're less forceful. I guess he's resigned himself to the fact that Hawke won't go away by then!Dasha Dreyson wrote...

I can also see a naive idealist who thought she could "fix" him maybe doing it, as well.
Though
honestly, while I enjoyed doing the Fenris romance on my canon
playthrough (figuring it was pretty well doomed to fail), I had a hard
time with him and my mage. He was all "all mages suck!" way too
frequently, and RL me wanted to smack his face for him.
I had to
attribute it to the two of them having just mad sexual chemistry and
little else. Course, she did kill him in the end....

And UGH. Fenris is irking me. "I never thought to cause my mage a friend. Is anyone's life affected by magic who actually benefits." Oh I dunno maybe the fact that a mage SAVED YOU FROM SLAVERY would be a good thing. UGH. Sometimes he pisses me off enough to want to hand him to Danarius. If only Danarius wasn't so creepy and cheap I actually might hand Fenris over.
