I've never read twilight and never will.
But Anders' unique circumstances would make him very reticent to start a full on relationship I would imagine. The writers may have made the conversation a bit more cheesy than it needed to be imho but I can understand the motivation completely. He is an apostate who could be arrested and killed or made tranquil at any time, he is possessed and driven by a spirit of vengeance, he has a cause that is bigger than himself. He's never going to be a happy skippy bunny LI and if he cares about someone the sane and logical path would be to not go there.
I'm fine with that bit - though as I said I thought the way it was written was a bit cheesy but I don't find it out of place or overly dramatic. He flirted and for a brief moment the 'old' Anders surfaces if you follow the right options but then his defence mechanisms cut and and he is reminded that he isn't old Anders and relationships are now closed to him through his own actions and decisions and he backs off.

That's how my Lady Hawke saw it; she understood that Anders is dangerous - any abomination is (though, I wouldn't call Anders a total abomination because he has retained his humanity), but she loved him despite this. She knew that loving him would be hard, he warned her as much, and at first she figured that she could "fix" him; but as the years passed, she realized that "fixing" him was not something she could do - all she could do was be there for him, and that made her and him content and it brought them together.

In the movie Hellboy, this one quote rings true for the relationship: "You like a person for their qualities. You love them for their defects."

I hope all that made some sort of sense - I'm distracted by filling out my financial aid. >_<

I think I love you for that quote. I need to watch Hellboy again.

I hear that's very satisfying for Fenris haters....you get a letter later telling you that Fenris' memory has been wiped again...basically canceling out like, 6-9 years of running from Danarius. Total waste of life.

I am less irritated with Edward in that series and more so with Bella.  She has to be the dumbest girl ever born.  I couldn't get pass the first book because of her, and I want to throttle her every time my friend makes me watch thoes damn movies...but he has girl night with me so if he is willing to watch romantic comedies with me I can endure Bella Swan's dumb ass for 2 hours.

And I identify Edward with Fenris' broody ass than Anders.  I just imagine them having the same attitude....you know.....broody.

Ah Edward's not that bad. He looks sexy...in the books away. The movies he's decent but I was disappoint. I was expecting a sex god from the book's description.
