i feel you on that, I've also got such feelings, so good. And both my Hawke and Anders being mages means both are so deliciously squishy, they've got to watch out for each other or some ****s.

On another note, it's possible for Meredith to grab Anders. I controlled him for a few minutes to heal my warrior. Sure enough, Meredith grabs him from the neck, gives that "tell me champion, how does it feel to have the life of the one you love in my hands?" speech and proceeds to thrust her ginormous sword through his chest. She definitely deserved that beatdown I gave her.

Someone needs to get a vid of this happening!

Well, thanks to the person I'm in a long term bromantic relationship with, I've got my Hawke/Anders song. It's great for Hawkes that feel strong senses of responsibility for the events going on around them. And might even be a sort of call and answer thing, too, in it's own way. I don't have to figure it out, it's music, it can be whatever you want it to be. Little Lion Man.

It's funny, because the Edward/Bella romance is certainly very dysfunctional -- but the book spends its entire time focusing on possibly the one part of their relationship that is never, ever an issue. Honestly, Twilight probably could have been good if it had skipped the hackneyed baby plotline and explored their relationship once Edward's vampirism was no longer an issue, forcing them to deal with all of the things that actually make their romance self-destructive (the obsessive stalking, Bella's submissiveness, the age gap, the fact Edward is a 100 year old virgin, etc.).  It has a pretty excellent setup for a deconstruction of rushed teenage romances and power imbalances in relationships and it's completely squandered by an incompetent writer who doesn't even realize how fundamentally toxic (in the "these people are too ****ed up to be ****ing" sense) the romance she's writing is. why do i spend so much time thinking about twilight

Fortunately she left all the interesting dynamics that she could and should have addressed up in the air for claiming by a more... well, by anyone else.

Someone pointed out to me that Twilight would be marginally more worthwhile if everyone genderswapped. Interesting thought experiment at least.

Also, Kiss With a Fist from Florence and the Machine a million years ago so when I heard the ending song I went "Hm, why does this make me think of N?"

And then I went and looked in my music and it Florence and the Machine was there, staring at me in an odd frightening following way.

Though TBH I'm glad it didn't happen my game and that I built little bro as such an epic warrior.  Because if it HAD happened, I would've charged Meredith with my squishy mage Hawke, tactics be damned.

No one hurts Anders and survives my Hawke's slightly maniacal wrath.

I have to speed through to the finale now. And let Meredith beat on me, so that I can get this scene. BECAUSE IT WILL BE WORTH IT. SO VERY WORTH IT.
Although... you know, it occurs to me that grabbing a Templar-hating abomination by the neck and proceeding to ram a sword through his chest is not conductive to one's health.
I mean, we all remember what happened to the last templar who tried that ****, amirite?

This problem is also inherent in Grace's Anders-napping. Congratulations, genius. You just coldcocked an abomination who hates blood mages, and took him away from the one person who can calm him down.
I'm starting to think that Kirkwall isn't just afflicted by a dangerously-thin Veil. Clearly, it is also struggling to cope with the Stupid Plague.

I don't know if the deconstructions it will inspire are worth having to constantly DEFEND THE ASSAILED INTERNET HONOR of anything I like that shares even the smallest thematic elements with Twilight as if said thematic elements had anything to do with why Twilight was bad harfugfhdngjghfrgl

I dunno if Twilight genderswap would work, because it would require a writer who was consciously subverting cliches which would mean they wouldn't have the requisite baffling blindness to make Twilight so ****ty in the first place and then there would be no twilight

I love that blog.  Really the thing with the series that got me, and I admit never touched the books or movies.  but I did read a small bit from the first book at a friends, all I could think was "This passes for good now?"  I was upset that people considerd her to be good.  Also I read in an interview, the whole thing started as a fanfiction for herself...that explains Bella on so many levels.
