I'm with ipgd on this one, I thought the romance novel esque corny sentiments were pretty genius for highlighting how utterly screwed and doomed the romance is.

That's a good point actually... and also, this is Varric telling the story, could that also be a reflection of the fact that he sees the relationship as entirely unhealthy (as supported by the fact he pulls Hawke aside on the matter) and so that's his interpretation of the relationship influencing how the interactions are presented?

I always took that line as mocking him. My Hawke finally bangs the guy and next thing she knows, he's asking to move in. She responds with that over the top line. At least that's how I RP it, because otherwise it's like nails on a chalkboard.

Same here - my Hawke  too snarky  for that line to be delivered entirely sincerely (I cringe inside at that line everytime ). In my playthroughs, Hawke says it to be facetiously over the top thinking Anders will read it as such but still see there's affection in that but then when she sees that he's apparently taken it seriously just runs with it and has a quiet chuckle about it with her faithful Mabari later

Anders is so needy, he's going to take that line sincerely. Snarky Hawke just sticks her foot in it anyway because that's who she is. I picture her face like this afterward:

I like the unstable relationships. They're interesting.

I can see that it may not be everyone's thing but I have a hard time seeing it as a game flaw or something. It's just...not everyone's thing.

The whole scene reminds me of a soap opera. It makes sense if Anders told Varric about it later and embellished a bit.

Edit: Because Anders is a pretty emotional guy.  And possibly reads too many trashy romance novels.

In the Twilight/DA2 crossover, Hawke would be Edward, and Anders would be Bella, and it would be a rivalmance. Andersbella is hopelessly heading down a path to stupid delf-destructive codependent town, and Hawkeward (you heard me) takes every opportunity to remind him that his decision-making is poor and that he is a danger to himself.

Heh,  I thought Fenris'd be Jacob since he's the 'little wolf'.  Not sure about Varric. He has to be someone cool. Is there one cool person in those books? Merrill is totally Alice, though.

If it's a really good cameo, I won't mind so much. I find a second appearance in DA3 would be lacking somewhat.

Hm...Gaider's post confirms hat I always thought sadly. If they wanted to, they could come up with an explanation. But negate a decision you do in the climax of the story...no, it is not going to happen. 
Killing Zevran didn't have the same impact. Well, we can always say there is the case of Leliana, ...but who knows if she will have some major role in DA3. 
That's sad, but completely understandable. Let's hope for a cameo or some mention of his whereabouts and actions with Hawke (if they escaped togheter at least)
