I strongly suspect that Elthina wanted to be a martyr almost as much as Anders did.

She does quote that "being a martyr is awesome" bit of the Chant at you.

Rofl!

She does seem a bit too eager to completely ignore the multitude of threats to her life. If even Sebastian is telling you to get outta there and you don't listen, well, more fool you I say. Either that or her ego really is as big as that statue behind her. "No-one would touch me, I'm a revered mother!" Oh really Elthina, really? :pinched:

Eh,, I'm using print screen anyway. And it lands in documents/bioware/dragon age2/screenshots. Dunno, if that can be changed.

Elthina just annoys me, I have gotten I don't even want to think what her real reasons were, I just stay fast that she was lazy complacent and in the end was leading the mages around on a thin silver chain that would break at the slightest pull. Meredith did have her by the hair though if you ask me.

I think she was hoping that the sheer power that the Chantry carries in both a physical and a spiritual sense would resolve the conflict. Because Maker knows stepping in and actually doing something about a situation never worked.<_<

Besides how can you be a Martyr when you've done nothing worthwhile?

"Who would dare kill me?!"
As Anders stands right behind her.

She wants to be known as facing death while ministering to her people. Though I'm not sure how much ministering she did. She stays in one spot all the time and any sisters I've seen on the street are begging for money, not helping or ministering... and then there are those two gossip mongers who are stationed to greet people coming into the chantry. What?

I have finally come to the conclusion that Ander's destruction of the Chantry was not in fact terrorism... I'll have to write out my rationale for you guys later so you can understand my thoughts on it.

Plus I hate Elthina...

And how come the only people who you see Jenga'd are her and 4-5 templars?  Bioware should have stuck some orphans in there for maximum effect if they wanted me to feel bad. There's not even a sister to be seen.

Why was I not allowed to wind up Sebastian when it came to the end?

Sebastian: Maker NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-
Hawke: ...Hey, Seb. If Elthina was so great, why didn't the Maker save her? I mean, maybe she was a bad person.
Seb: OOOO- ...WHAT!?!
H: Well, the Maker's all knowing, all-seeing and he could have told her to get the hell out of Kirkwall.
S: What!?
H: Or he could have smote Anders.
S: Whaaaaaat!?!
H: But he didn't... maybe he wanted Anders to blow up the Chantry?
S: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?!?!?
H: Maybe the Maker is sick of pious idiots taking his words out of context and turned pro-mage, and wants the Chantry destroyed! Maybe that's why mages have magic powers, and you don't!

...I have just justified everything Anders ever did. XD

No, you should write a manifesto!

I'm sorry, I'm in a silly mood tonight. I wonder if people outside of our little bubble of Anders love hate Elthina too?

Certainly.
Be aware that the Chantry uniform consists of kick-a** boots and feathered pauldrons.

We also hunt down rogue Templars*, for they are very dangerous. Lyrium has addled their brains, so for their own safety, and the safety of others, their brains must be removed.

*(All templars are rogue, by the way.)

Seconded.

Also, where is my option to stab Sebastian in the back?

@Shiba5: I do trust you. Which is why I don't (especially being a BSN newb). :) My pondering will have to remain just that.

I just believe firmly that one who does nothing even knowing what is going on, is just as guilty.

She could have said something to Petrice, since she was clearly suspecting her. She could have stood in public saying something to Meredith...in front of the people of Kirkwall, Meredith could only just obey.

Instead, she does absolutely nothing, for ten years. It is a pretty severe mistake.
She wanted to be a martyr too, I don't know how many times we told her to go away or do something, anything. Maybe the dialogues of Sebastian's last personal quest stress this more.

I suspect she'll be a martyr simply for being a Grand Cleric and dying violently at the hands of a mage.  It certainly seems to have worked pretty well for Sebastian.
