Heh. I don't dislike long games. But I was a bit stunned at my 120+ hours without even doing the bonus dungeon.

I do the same thing as you just in reverse (since I'm female). The only games I really play female consistenly in is DAO and KOTOR.

yeah, for some reason i'm not temped at all to play a male Hawke, though i liked my playthough when i tried it with a male Warden.

I usually play chicks when the option is given to me. Most games have male protagonists so once in a while it's good to pretend I'm not a boring gal but a super-human one.

I do hold Nathan Drake close to my heart though. He's still badass without boobs.

I did a male Brosca playthrough... and I play M!Shep/Liara mostly in MAss Effect. But most of my DA playthroughs have been female. Both my DA fics have female amges as the main characters... although my DAO one is on hold.

Seems strange when I think about it. Then I relaize it doesn't have to make sense since it is in my own little video game world

I usually play females unless I am forced to. DA2 is really the only game I've done it by choice and now I don't even want to play female Hawke, just like in Mass Effect the idea of playing male Shepard is barftastic.

I'm too hung up on my dude Hawke and Anders to even want to play another character besides a quick run through Dx It's quite funny since I used to be one of those "ugh how can you play the same game the same way all the time" people, and now that is all I want to do. The game just works better for me this way, and therefore I feel more involved.

But no, I don't think it is weird to play a character who isn't like you (sex/race/orientation/etc). You're playing a character, not yourself. Why the sex of your character should match your own is nonsensical to me.

I don't think I can even work up a quick runthrough.  I've done 3 PTs so far with my "canon" Hawke and Anders, and I'll probably start a 4th once the game is patched 

I play a fairly good mix of female and male characters; as a general rule, I have about a 65:35 ratio of female to male, with more of my tabletop characters being male, and more of my CRPG characters female.  That being said, one of my favorite RP experiences was Planescape Torment, and The Nameless One was one awesome dude.

Ah, New Vegas... I got so caught up in mods I've never got around to finishing the game.  And then I got pissed off at Steam because I no longer could earn achievements because I enabled console to change my character's face.  <_<

I'll play male and female because I need the variety for the sake of replay. I actually keep charts of previous characters, so as not to redo the same combo. I can confess that on a gamer forum and not feel silly. My list of DAO characters has been very handy when importing games into DA2. The DA2 game importer doesn't tell me important stuff like "that game had a snarky character who really liked jelly sandwiches".

Anyone have suggestions for Anders about getting better? How to integrate with Justice and heal emotionally? I know several of you are working on fanfics along those lines. I'm thinking more about who in Thedas could help him. Spirit healers? Rivaini wise women? Qunari texts on calming meditation (skip the texts about mages...)
