I would only give Anders a kitten if he was living with Hawke tho, since it seems they eat them in Darktown...

Justice seems stronger where the veil is weakest, which would imply that he is weaker where the veil is strong.  Perhaps on the run and away from Kirkwall Anders is able to regain more control over Justice, especially with the help of Hawke.  It makes sense anyway.

I see it as Justice's big moment like the big decision in Kotor. Starting the war for freedom is what he wanted and maybe he'll be calmer since his DA2 purpose is done. Of course, that doesn't mean he wouldn't find a new purpose to be vigilant about, but it wouldn't necessarily be one Anders is as closely connected to. I personally feel that if Anders survived and fought on the mage side, he'll be more in control of himself again on a somewhat permanent basis.

Glad to see someone else did this. I went in spoiler free, so I didn't know what gifts you could get for Anders. I spent so much time running around looking for a kitten after that dialogue with Merrill.

I was also spoiler free on my first playthrough, so I didn't know what gifts people got either.  I took that banter as a hint.

I'm sure Anders and Hawke will give the poor dog an hour long lecture on why the kitty's off limits and should not be considered as food.

Plus I bet Hawke spoils the dog anyway and Anders too, when no one's looking. I refuse to believe that Anders doesn't start bonding with the dog, it's certainly saved Hawke tons in my game.

I have two cats and a dog, they can live happily together.  I can so picture the mabari lounging in front of the fireplace and one or two cats playing with his tail or biting his ear and he looking at Hawke like "really cats?"  Mabari's are also very smart so a simple "Don't eat the cats they are family" would probably suffice.

If it's a kitten, it's okay. Animal babies seem to get lots of exceptions to teasing/hunting/whatever. Stranger things have happened.  Work warning: link goes to a video.

Yessss. I thought they were dropping a helpful hint. I am slightly ashamed to admit that I spent so much time running around looking for a kitten that didn't exist and meanwhile missed actual side quests my first playthrough.

Henry is a good dog, he'd never hurt a kitty. Hawke will make him and Anders get over their differences by letting them play with kittens. Henry loves kittens too >:|

And yeah, I have five cats and a dog and they get along great xD I might be projecting.

That conversation is one of the best in the early game. Anders' sadface when he admits to missing Pounce just breaks my heart every time.

I wonder if at some point between arc 2 and three Anders heard that Meredeith was sending for the right. As in arc three you can hear she was sending for it before she called it at the end of the game. It wouldn't be hard for him to find out. Mages he is helping escapre might of heard something, remember not all the templar's were backing the Knight- Commander. I also the vail was being so weak there wasn't helping Anders, or maybe Justice forgot the lines the mortal world has on what is justice, and he thought he was doing the right thing. Anders being with him for so long, started to feel the same.

Though I still think there is more to Justice making an apperance when Anders is around things that hurt(him mentally like Karl) or things he has bad memories about. But that's just me. Because when face with other injustice's Justice just seems to sit back and drink tea.

Well, Anders did know about Alrik and the tranquil solution, although he got Meredith and Elthinia's part in it wrong. So I wouldn't be surprised if there were a couple of people in the circle who knew what Meredith was planning. Heck, Kerras just plain old says it in front of Hawke which is how we as players find out. So I wouldn't be surprised if Anders knew even before Hawke did which is why he was so paranoid about Merill being around the windows. Learning about the planned Exalted March probably just cemented what he already had planned and justified it in his mind, especially Elthinia rather callous remarks about the Chantry slaughtering a whole city and her views on an Exalted March in general. Even Sebastian was thrown off by what she said. I was even taken aback by that which is probably why I wasn't as sympathetic about her going boom as I might have been before.

In my head, he gives Pounce back to Joshua Cousland before he leaves. Anders does say he left him with a friend!
