It's so true.  So I just roleplay that my Hawke hides the staff and doesn't wear robes in town.  And yells at Anders for never taking off those damned Tevinter Mage's robes.  Can anyone scream OBVIOUS AS HELL!

To be entirely fair, it only matters in Act 1 if you're a mage.  By Act 2 you're wealthy and powerful enough that the templars can't touch you, and you're Champion in Act 3.

But it's still pretty derp-worthy.

Ya if you don't play Golems, Orisno turning into a Harvester would be wtf. It made sense to me sicne I played the dlc and plus Orsino did study necrology and advance blood magic.

Does Anders say anything if you bring him with you?

I didn't play it, but it didn't surprise me fot the necrology use...it was the fact that I sided with mages, I had just killed a bunch of templars, and with just my party around he decided to turn into a Harvester :°D
Bad timing, to say the less.
I read it does make more sense if you side with the templars...still...I kinda wished I didn't have to fight Orsino so he could stay alive in a pro-mage playthrough.

If I remember correctly Orsino kills the mages himself to fuel his blood magic, which he also claims he had never used before that.

He's downright insane that path. Well, he's insane either way but if you know what I mean.

I thought the mages were already dead when he becomes the harvester.  And honestly it makes sense either way you choose to go.  The mages were being cut down left and right and orisino freaks out.  The Circle mages are going to be killed regardless on whether or not they use blood magic so I can see him going "WTH why not at this point, we're all dead anyway!"

I think he called the dead mages "sacrifices" but I haven't played that ending in a long time. :pinched:

Hmm... I brought him with me but I don't recall him saying anything off the top of my head. I think Orsino still had me at "I helped the dude that killed your mother." bit.

when and where does he say that again?

Well if you have Bethany she says "Why did he do that?!"
Then Anders replies "He was a desprate man."

Because at least for me he said something a long the lines of "I will not wait here to die!"
So it seems he turned to the bad mojo magic because even with Hawkes help he thought he was going to die, and survival kicked in...at the worse time of course.

Same cutscene he turns into the Harvester.

I have only played a mage ending so perhaps it is different if you take the templar path.  No matter how I play my Hawke I can't rightly choose to side with the Templars.  The Circle seems too much like innocent bystanders in a conflict between templars and apostates for me to find annulling the Circle to be right.

Oh hey, my picture is at the top. Exciting! =D

As for the ending, I would have liked it on the mage side if they had made the danger more apparent. I still wouldn't have condoned what Orsino did, but it might have been more understandable if I hadn't just wiped out the Templars without breaking a sweat. Like, maybe if Meredith was already pounding on the doors or something.

I think I was still screaming WHY ANDERS WHY again and again at my monitor at this point and didn't hear a word of what Orsino said. But jeez, srsly, Hawke (if not blood mage) is like THE only mage to NOT deal with demons and corpses and virgin sacrifice and forbiden crap. It feels almost unrealistic now, I might do blood magic next time just to keep it real.

It was a completely hopeless fight out in the street.  Once the temps stormed the gallows and began slaughtering the mages did orsino lose enough hope of surviving the battle that he flips out.

Actually it was after I killed all the Templars that he flipped out. Clearly I was more than capable.

Fight!

Oh, you're tired of helping Orsino? Funny, because I was feeling the same way.

The problem is that the gameplay and story are completely separate from each other.  If the GAMEPLAY involved Hawke and co getting the crap kicked out of them by endless waves of elite templars, it'd make more sense.  But as it is, Hawke and co can own the templars flooding into the central chamber of the Gallows, and Orsino still acts like they're all gonna die.

Honestly, I just kite the templars until Orsino's Harvester thing triggers.  The whole scene makes infinitely more sense that way.

OK, you wonderful, kissable Anderstians! I need your help:

Can anyone post the exact line Anders gives when you're entering the tunnels under the Gallows during "Dissent?" He says something about how the lyrium smugglers use the tunnels to smuggle lyrium to the templars, who crave the stuff, but I don't know the exact line.

Any assistance is most appreciated!

Don't know if this was answered, but:

"Lyrium smugglers built these tunnels. To service the templars who crave the stuff."

People in this game have the tendency to attack their only ally.

And it always ends poorly.

I don't beleive that excuse to be honest, his blood magic is not basic, it's advanced which means he studied blood magic, plus he knew about the white lilly killer and helped him with supplies.

Also Anders flames Orsino before he makes the Chantry go boom :D

After Grace's betrayal I was pretty fed up with helping anyone in the game at that point.

"No good deed goes unpunished" should have been the subtitle for this game.XD

Which never made sense to me.  Isn't the dialogue almost the same whether you're siding with the templars or mages?  He still mentions Quentin's research.  I hate that you have to side with the templars to be able to say "WTF the guy that killed my mom?!?!"

Or "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

Or "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."  Honestly, anything suitably depressing and misanthropic would work :?

Oh absolutely.  The combat and the story isn't in sync here.  Hawke can clearly kill all of those templars, but the story indicates that the Templars are slaughtering all the mages and they are somehow losing the fight.  I go with the story because that is what is being told...even though I have no doubt that my Hawke and her 7 or so companions can easily take an army of Templars down.

Honestly I don't see how those mages were having so much trouble because templars go down easily by my mage (non-bloodmagic).  Hawke is like the only mage in all of thedas not affected by templar abilities.
