@CatOfEvilGenius: Oh no I didn't write that one, it is a good on isn't it?! Mine is "What is Justice?"

@thebrute7: Almost down with chapter nine -.- This is one of those long chapters(long considering how short all of them are) It should be up today. I am working on it as I read this forum.

Been reading What Is Justice.  Yay for chapter nine! :D

I thought Atonement was interesting.  Would give you a link, only I've lost the damn link.

* kisses everyone, especially fanfic authors, and goes off to google-fu *

edit:
Eeee, I found it!  I don't completely fail at google!  Atonement is Sable Rhapsody's work.

I totally blame you folks for this you know

What if I asked for the Knight Commander's head on a spike?

The Anders thread gets a point everytime it drives someone to Fanfiction.  Yay.

It hasn't driven me to write, but I'm reading fanfiction for the first time in about 10 years. So, is that half a point?

There is a surprising lack of good Jethann 'filling' on k!meme.

I'm half tempted to make a Jethann/manShep request, but the kinkmeme's already full of silly prompts in the first place and what's even better is that people are actually filling them.

Such as C*ckblocking Andraste Belt Buckle.

I love KinkMeme EVER so much.

Hey guys I'm not usually up to reading fanfiction but for some reason I am in the mood to read some. Anyone have a link to a good one?

Well...I guess I'll post this in case anyone is interested. This was my impression on my first playthrough. I'd been spoiled that the Chantry was going to explode, and I was waiting for that moment of awful. I expected it to be bad. Very bad.

Then the moment came. The cutscene inside the Chantry didn't show any civilians. The pieces of the Chantry sort of lifted up into the air before exploding out into the sky above the city. It looked night-ish. I kind of went, "Oh. That's it?"

I didn't think that NO civilians died. But I thought it could have been a lot worse, and that gave me the impression that Anders probably tried to avoid unnecessary deaths. Let's face it, the Chantry going boom with the Grand Cleric inside is kind of a big statement all by itself.

The other reason I thought that was sort of unrelated. When Anders wanted me to distract Elthina, and I asked him what I should talk about, he said (paraphrasing here), "Talk about mages. Give her another chance to change her mind and help them." So...I just get the feeling that he wanted to avoid unnecessary death.

I can't prove anything, and I think trying to prove it on either side is probably futile. I just think there is evidence to support the theory, which is interesting to discuss. I'm cool with people disagreeing with me.

If you like fanfic of the "I'll be in my bunk" variety, you can skip right to the "Decisions" chapter of that fanfic.  There's much more to that work than erotica, but the erotica is quite... nice.  XD

edit: It's a work in progress, with more chapters being added, and not always in order.  Not a bad thing, but good to know so as to avoid confuzzlement.  You can find them all on DeviantArt, with the Anders pic.

I fell in love with this, Failsafe. It's not mine, I have to add. It's brief and sad, but so touching. M!Hawke and Anders, nothing too explicit, I warned just in case it is not your cup of tea :)

Even in Act 2, after Dissent, if you give him the note of Meredith and Elthinia rejecting the tranquil solution, Anders tells Hawke that maybe he can reason with Elthinia about mage rights.

I'm wondering what happened between that and Anders feeling he had no alternative but to blow up the chantry.  I wonder if it will be addressed in a DLC.

The problem might not be what did happen in that time, so much as what didn't happen. I think Anders says something about Justice was just getting fed up of all the dilly-dallying around; so probably his thoughts either become more pointed, or he exerts his will more forcefully, than he had had need for before.

I also wonder at how much just being in Kirkwall affects Anders' ability to control the spirit within him. When you take Anders into the Fade, Justice assumes dominant control. Maybe spending so long in a city where the Veil is so thin isn't the best idea for a guy whose body is inhabited by an increasingly impatient Fade creature. But then, I guess none of what happens would have happened the same way if it hadn't been for Kirkwall being the Hellmouth and all that.

late I know (stupid Australian time) sorry this is several pages back.

OK now I read this in this post somewhere but can't remember where. Apparantly if you speak to cullen on the rivalry path without anders in your party and tell him someone is targeting the chantry he says they have orders to search Darktown and arrest him. There was also a rumor of a 'missing' letter that's meant to be in the game but is bugged that is a warrant for Anders' arrest at this point in the game.
If this is true, Anders was running out of time in Act three and had to do something drastic or he'd have been arrested and killed and the whole thing would have been for nothing.

Anyway I can't find the posts to back it up (over 800 pages is a lot ) So just ignore this if it's rubbish lol.

I haven't done any fan works, but this game has pushed me into brushing up my drawing skills, which haven't really been put to use since my senior year of high school. I really want to do some fan art, but I'm not going to like anything I make if I'm still struggling to remember how to hold a pencil. I'll get there eventually, though.:P

I think the guide mentions a warrent for Anders' arrest.

So he was ... running out of time.

If you're all right with the gay, then anything by this person is pretty fantastico.

In fact, they're one of those writers that make me scared to write because they're so good!

While the Chantry could be a theoretical military target, I think his intentions are too far off to handwave it as an act of war. It wasn't just a strike against the leader of the templars, it was an attack upon a religious symbol, leader and place of worship; inflaming the public was a big part of it. He wasn't making a strategic move in a conflict, he was trying to start the conflict. Like, his #1 goal was to make everyone angry, any militarily relevant benefits the death of the Grand Cleric would have to the rebels being incidental.

And yet, if you march Anders over to Cullen wrapped up like a Christmas present, Cullen doesn't do anything. XD

They really weren't trying to hard to find him.  Why would they even be searching Darktown?  The Codex entry for a romanced Anders says that he had been "living openly with Hawke for some time" and mentions him being uncomfortable in the spotlight.  "Openly" implies that people know about it, and that kind of gossip would definitely reach any templars who are even vaguely paying attention.

Here's my theory.  Meredith knows, but wants to keep Hawke around to use against Orsino.  If you side with the templars, she almost says as much right before she turns on you.  Before then, she threatens to go after Bethany, or your mage friends, or you (if you're a mage), unless you do what she wants.  So Cullen might be under orders from Meredith rather than an oblivous idiot.  I hope that's the case.  Cullen's really grown on me in DA2.
