Ohhh Warden vs Hawke?

I have my money down on the Warden.
Who would Anders support? That depends on how you played your games! You could have a bff Warden and a Hawke that does nothing but make his life hell without the kisses. Or a forever dick Warden and a bff Hawke with or without the kisses.

You decide. :P

EDIT

DAIII LIs? I've still got my bets on Cullen being one of them.

What about a BFF Warden who both he and Justice liked and a Hawke who friendmanced him?

Poor guy.

Geez, ToP again!  I only have two pictures!

I was trying to think of a (male) character I would like to see return for DA3 as a LI, and honestly I can't really think of any.

Then again, if Cullen does come back, chances are the other LI will be new. And hopefully not an elf (yeah right <_<)

I'm still waiting on my male dwarf LI.

... Still waiting.

*Looks at Varric*

I hate you so much.

Dwarf LI is never gonna happen.

I for one am glad

As long as there are more romance lines like, "Want a sandwich?" I'll be happy. And possibly follow ups like this:

Oh, then he'd be forced to go sit on the time out box while they fight it out. You don't want to get between these two people no matter how you played them.

But mentally be more worried about Hawke.

Speaking of LI's... I had someone ask me the other day who I loved more; Alistair or Anders, and honestly, I think it says a LOT that I cannot decide between the two, considering that the romances in DA2 were kind of truncated as compared to DA:O.

Re: Warden versus Hawke... honestly, not too many of my Wardens would even be interested in fighting, unless it was... I dunno, "hey I'll armwrestle you to see who's more badass", or something.
My Amell, for one, would be absolutely thrilled to learn she had a cousin, and would dedicate her life to making Hawke's life miserable ****blocking being the best and most awesome relative ever. But that's because she's the sweet-as-pie type who wouldn't hurt a fly, unless it happened to be some kind of horrible Archdemon fly trying to eat her friends.
And my Dalish warden just wouldn't give a crap either way. Though I can easily imagine her approaching an Anders-mancing Hawke and telling him/her something along the lines of "hurt him and I'll BREAK YOU".
Cos that's how she rolls.

It may be blasphemy to admit this, but after this dialog with Aveline, (in the middle of Anders being all emotionally blackmaily) :

Aveline: Why are you still here, Varric?
Varric: Starkhaven's too pretentious for me and Cumberland's too boring.
Aveline: You always say you hate commitment, but here you are, six years later, still at Hawke's side.
Varric: Aveline, I thought you'd have noticed by now: I lie a lot.

She honestly was ready to dump both Anders and Fenris and run off with the dwarf.

Pssh, the Legion of the Dead and the casteless are badass. I might end up wanting to kill a noble LI, but the dwarves we've seen who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty are awesome.

Besides, we've yet to have an LI with proper facial hair. DAverse needs more epic beards.

This. This. This.

I adore Alistair, but at the end of the day I have to look at it like this:

Alistair is that shining White Knight ™ every little girl secretly dreams of. He's charming, shy, romantic, sweet.

Anders is snarky, tortured, "everything your mother warned you about", heartbreaking, rebel mage. BUT! He also has a hopeless romantic side and cares deeply about his friends and lovers, and the "greater good" and all that jazz.

And he likes cats.

You can't go wrong there.

I am extremely sad that I missed out on all the excellent conversation about loving/hating/adjusting to DA2 as compared to DA:O. :crying: It was a really great six or seven pages of reading though.

WHY WAS CARVER THE FIRST PERSON I THOUGHT OF? WTF is wrong with me?

Although, I might not romance anyone in DA3. I can't imagine how they're going to try to top Anders for sheer heartbreak.

David Gaider: Dohohohohoho! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/devil.png[/smilie]

I'm still waiting for them to pull the, "You've fallen in love with this person, aww! But wait, they're betraying you! They're attacking you! You have to kill them to save your own life! Oh no! Oh, wait, actually they were completely innocent and being controlled by blood magic. Oops!" thing, just so we have even more reason to throw our monitors/televisions across the room.

I thought for sure we were going to get that this time. I figured out what Anders had planned (my character never did until it went boom), and I spent like six to ten hours of game play as a TOTAL WRECK, because I knew it was going to be seen as an unforgivable act and that it was going to fall to me to kill him. To be given the choice to spare him was more than I ever expected from the game.

But this being Bioware, yeah, you KNOW it's coming eventually. You will have to kill your LI at some point.

They've already done it to some extent with Mahariel and Tamlen

Well I don't dislke dwarves. Sigrun and Oghren were both awesome. I just don't see them as LIs at all, and I doubt most people do either.

DA3 LIs should be
Cassandra
Arianne (OMG BIOWARE PLZ MAKE IT HAPPEN PLZ)
Cullen
Sexy new male LI that's not as troubled as Anders, not as moody as Fenris, not as whory as Zevran and not as naive as Alistair.

What about her clan?
I mean, either they're dead, or Hawke is believed to be responsible for the death of their keeper. (The Keeper is required to keep the clan running, apparently, and the Alerion clan was falling appart as it was.)

I think the Dalish Warden would have some issues with that.

But I don't think Anders wants to die to just die. He sees it as justice for what he's done. That's Hepler's opinion on the matter (and I believe she even says "thinks" he wants to die). That's why him giving Varric the pillow is (IMO) misdirection. Anyone who knows anything about the warning signs of suicide will see that and know, but he's not planning on offing myself, he's planning on doing something that will very likely result in his death and he's ok with that because his death will fulfill a purpose.

I have to agree with you.  It seemed more like he was getting ready for his own Shepard-esque suicide mission, not commiting suicide.  Big difference.

Shepard wasn't (isn't) crazy, though. S/he fought to get out of the suicide mission alive and kicking.

I'd rather compare Anders to a school shooter (only, less random) or a suicide bomber. What's common with those is that they're done out of desperation, by people who feel there's little left for them in life and that their death will accomplish something at the same time.

But, I do think of suicide as a broader term here: if you're planning your own death (or actions that will lead to it), you're suicidal, whatever your motives. Seppuku isn't any less of a suicide, for example, even if the person doesn't actually want to die.

Alistair, with his charming wit, flying dogs and love of cheese, and I just LOVE how you can tease each other, and even in DA2 he's still doing it by refering to you as "the old ball and chain". Alistair is just to be adored.

Anders is so much more complex, snarky, b*tchy, tortured and utterly a mess when you get down to it, but ultimately loving and sweet and he makes you want to hold him and tell him everything will be okay. Anders makes my heart ache constantly with how much I love him.

They're completely different, and if you asked me to pick, I couldn't.

I think it's sad how a lot of the anti-Anders posts often mention stuff like "and to top it off they made him gay", or something along those lines. As depressing as that is, that aspect is also where a lot of the hate comes from, or at least it adds to it.

The video game nerd mentality these days kinda boggles me. The moment a character becomes even slightly unlikable it's "dude, where's my option to kill him off?".

In fairness though, I'd really like an opportunity to gank Sebastian. What can I say? I'm petty.

I liked the fanfic where Anders/Justice killed him.

Alistair. And I still want Steve Valentine to create a phone sex wake up call service.

Of course, if they'd ever let my characters have Nathaniel as a LI, that might change. The first time I played DA:A, my Warden kept having "Alistair who?" moments, even without the benefit of an actual romance.

(I do love Anders, he's just...exhausting.)

Yes. But that didn't have the same impact on me as being forced to kill Anders would have after being with him for the whole game. DA2 made me more emotionally invested than any video game I've ever played.

As much as I would love to continue to talk about Anders, patch 1.02 is out! Therefore I must patch and get my fill of a "hopefully" bug free playthrough which involes much Anders love!

Did we have to bring up my favourite romance-that-wasn't-really-a-romance-but-in-a-way-it-was!?

Great. I'm gonna go cry in that emo corner over there now. :crying:

Geez... first Tamlen goes missing, then I have to kill him, then Alistair dumps me, then Anders goes crazy, and I don't even know what's happening next!!!

I'm jealous. Us console owners are gonna have to wait probably at least 1 week longer.

I wanna start my third playthrough already damn it.
