Hey, if the Warden and Hawke got into a fight, who would win?
And what would Anders do?

Personally, I think my Warden would kick Hawke's a** to the void and back (she has a good reason to do it, too) and as for Anders... I'm not sure.
I mean, he loves Hawke, but the Warden is a friend, and was the first person to give him freedom from the circle (yay, conscription!).

Then there's Justice...

I think Anders would go all Justice on the Warden if it came down to it - if you romanced him. He's obsessed with Hawke.

Speaking of LI's... I had someone ask me the other day who I loved more; Alistair or Anders, and honestly, I think it says a LOT that I cannot decide between the two, considering that the romances in DA2 were kind of truncated as compared to DA:O.

Alistair. And I still want Steve Valentine to create a phone sex wake up call service.

Of course, if they'd ever let my characters have Nathaniel as a LI, that might change. The first time I played DA:A, my Warden kept having "Alistair who?" moments, even without the benefit of an actual romance.

(I do love Anders, he's just...exhausting.)

I have to admit Nathaniel amazed me as a character. My Warden (on my onnly Awkenings play through that I mever finished) was blown away by his loyalty to her after her killing his father. She was prepared to hate him and then ended up caring about him... and occasionally found herself thinking things she shouldn't about him. Even so... she got dumped by Alistair and ended up with Zevran by the end of DAO but she wanted Anders so badly.

I am extremely sad that I missed out on all the excellent conversation about loving/hating/adjusting to DA2 as compared to DA:O. :crying: It was a really great six or seven pages of reading though.

I know! I was so fired up about it, but the topic had moved on by the time I caught up.

But Justice might have been very close to the Warden and possiblty like him/her more because they aren't a distraction.

However, I think Justice might be fine with Hawke at the end of a friendmance, so...yeah.

Right? Anders did not build statues of the Warden out of her underwear--just sayin'.

Cousland and Hawke would be a bit wary of each other. Cousland had a similar sense of humour (although she held some things sacred, unlike Hawke) and was also a bit of a tomboy, but she was straight-up Lawful Good, and would disapprove of my Hawke's reckless, selfish, "it seemed like a good idea at the time," attitude. Hawke would constantly be after her to lighten up and have some fun.

Bahahaha, your Cousland and Hawke sound EXACTLY like mine.  I love your Hawke more and more all the time.

My Cousland had a fairly weird sense of humor herself, but nothing quite compares to Snarky Hawke.  I could just hear a scandalized Cousland going "HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT?!" after Hawke starts going on about boneless women flopping around.

Shepard wasn't (isn't) crazy, though. S/he fought to get out of the suicide mission alive and kicking.

I'd rather compare Anders to a school shooter (only, less random) or a suicide bomber. What's common with those is that they're done out of desperation, by people who feel there's little left for them in life and that their death will accomplish something at the same time.

But, I do think of suicide as a broader term here: if you're planning your own death (or actions that will lead to it), you're suicidal, whatever your motives. Seppuku isn't any less of a suicide, for example, even if the person doesn't actually want to die.

It's not exactly the same as that either though. Anders's actions wouldn't directly get him killed, he just knew that someone else could decide to kill him because of them. Serial killers aren't necessarily suicidal either, even if they know might get death penalty.

At least he was willing to take responsability. He could have easily just set the bomb and then made it blow without people even realizing he was involved.

If he really intended to die, he could have just stayed inside the Chantry.

Yeah, I just can't see Anders turning on my canon Hawke in favor of my canon Warden. Cousland might have been BFFs with Anders and Justice, but that still doesn't make her anywhere near as close as Hawke got to them. As noted, Anders is pretty obsessed with romanced Hawke and I have to imagine Justice would be just fine with friendmance Hawke. Or, at least, Justice wouldn't prefer Cousland over Hawke by the end of DA2.

If it hasn't already been said... Anders would set up a convenient pool filled with Jello right behind them and then sit back and wait for the magic to happen.  Possibly using magic to surreptitiously tear their clothes a little bit.  It would be glorious.  Eventually, Hawke and the Warden would realize that Anders was giggling and leering like a dirty old perv and stop fighting each other to fight him.

And then things would really get kinky.  Alistair would not approve.

Because if he was creeping on my Warden he would've slept with her and then immediately asked to move in when she said, "Pretty girl, right here." :P

It's a conversation with Fergus's son in origins right before Fergus leaves and Oren gets killed. Oren wants a sword and somewhere in the conversation Fergus says something like "Don't worry Oren you'll get to see a sword up close real soon."

Oh, you know, I did catch that at some point. And then I chuckled blackly, as I recall. Bioware=wicked. Or maybe it's just Gaider.

Someone has a very dark sense of humor. Anders is the most brilliant troll creation I've seen from a developer ever - and he was years in the making. That's dedication.
I hope Bioware knows that I, for one, appreciate their efforts to manipulate me in such a twisted fashion.
(Even though it hurt. Ouch my <3. :crying:)

Right there with you. I love how when I look back I can see they've been planning this all along. "Oh, look, Anders is shiny! No you can't romance him. Now you can! Aren't you thrilled? MWAHAHAHA." I love Bioware so much just for all the ways they make me care and then screw me over so completely and I always know it's coming, but I never see it til it happens.

Especially when you go replay Awakenings and see their evil little minds at work.

Alistair, with his charming wit, flying dogs and love of cheese, and I just LOVE how you can tease each other, and even in DA2 he's still doing it by refering to you as "the old ball and chain". Alistair is just to be adored.

Anders is so much more complex, snarky, b*tchy, tortured and utterly a mess when you get down to it, but ultimately loving and sweet and he makes you want to hold him and tell him everything will be okay. Anders makes my heart ache constantly with how much I love him.

They're completely different, and if you asked me to pick, I couldn't.

I'd definitely pick Anders straight up. Sure, he's a mess by the end, but he's a mature man by the time you meet him, with his own life, goals, opinions, and job. He's willing to argue with Hawke, he will break up with you if you do something that goes against his principles, and he stands up for himself.

I like Alistair, but he was just kind of floating along, living the life that had been handed to him. He is, as he says, a follower, and he never really seems to make his own decisions or choose something for himself until the various Landsmeet outcomes. The awkward Persuasion/Intimidation checks make him seem easily swayed by the Warden's opinions and willing to go along with just about anything you choose to do.

Anders felt like a whole, complex person, but Alistair's sweetness didn't stop me from feeling that he was just waiting for the Warden to "complete" him.

Each to their own, of course (and I'm courting Alistair in the game I have open right now), but I know which I'd snap up.

WHY WAS CARVER THE FIRST PERSON I THOUGHT OF? WTF is wrong with me?

Although, I might not romance anyone in DA3. I can't imagine how they're going to try to top Anders for sheer heartbreak.

TEEHEEHEE *girly giggles*

Oh they so did it.

I find it funny that some people comare them to Anders and Fenris... I think Anders would have bitten Fenris's head off for saying something like that, while Nate can make jabs at Anders and Anders can make jabs at Nate and it's more like trololololing one another.

Also true.

My hopeless romantic self would like to say "yes" and if romancing Anders, the reason Hawke "disappears" is Anders related.

Mind you, my hopeless romantic self also never gets what it wants. =P

Heh, that would be nice, if only it wasn't exactly the same ending regardless of which LI you pick

Someone should make a "I spent 7 years with Hawke and all I got was a lousy name drop in the epilogue" t-shirt.

Hawke's disappearance could still be Anders related, regardless of your LI!

Too bad it's also the same ending regardless of whether Anders is dead or alive

But is Justice? :P

Uh... what if they bring back Justice as an Anders wearing meat suit? That would certainly ping my tragic meter.
