Hearing all this stuff about Fenris going slice and dice o'matic on Hawke in the Fade makes me happy that the one time I did take him there, I went as a mage because like you, I didn't have a problem making him go down (<insert stupid joke here>).

I do agree, him giving into a demon in the Fade is sort of a 'wh-what moment' though.  I would have thought him one of the few that would not turn.

Ehh. I'm not fangirling over Adam Howden.
First of all, I cannot navigate Twitter, so I avoid it lest my brain explode.
Second of all, I try not to even see what VAs look like, or else their face will replace the face of the character, which is not acceptable.
Third of all....just...not interested.

Uggh same.
Plus I'd feel like a creepy creeper.

*merrily creeps like a creepy creeper*

Seriously, that's what Twitter is there for. It's not like we're standing around outside his house, peering in the windows.

You would if you could.

I'm not that weird.

Mmmmmmmmmhmmmmmmm. ^_^

How old is this guy anyway? Some of his tweets look like things my father would say. Which adds to the creeper vibe a bit more for me.

I've no clue.
I'm guessing thirties? Maybe?

Merrill is so freaking adorable.
But I don't know if I should compare her to a puppy that mauls people or a rabid koala.
You know...really sweet but...A BLOOD MAGE. -gasps-

I loved when she was talking to Anders and she was like, "All spirits are dangerous. I realized this...I'm sorry you didn't."
Poor Anders, he got told by the rabid koala of my party. :P

LOLz.  That's snappy of her after betraying me to the demon every single time in the Fade.  TSK TSK Merrill, a bit hypocritical!

How is it hypocritical of her? She's made deals with demons before with the intention of helping her people so when tempted by another demon with offers of helping the Dalish were you honestly surprised when she said "Yes."?

I wasn't surprised and told her so every time.  Who am I compared to her heritage?  Gonna be funny this time as she's my lover, lol.
Anyway, I think she's a bit hypocritical, pissed at me whenever I don't make a deal with a demon even though deals with demons are dangerous or as Anders says... "Demons will always trip you up".  Every single time she's taking the risk of becoming possessed.  *shrug* I guess not everyone would agree that it's hypocritical, I just see it that way.

Yeah, it seems to be some weird disconnect with the writing staff. I mean, did every single one of your companions have to betray you? Some of their reactions was very out of character.

I'm pretty sure the point was that demons make you do things that are "out of character".

Jupp... that caught me with surprise as well. I'm finally getting somewhere with my Hawkes Fenris romance, thinking she gets dumped and then Anders picking up the pieces. It's been hard work for me to get Fenris to be enough of a rival =) guess I was sloppy in the first act. Interesting to see how it plays out in the end.

lmao.

My douche Hawke (who was friends with Fenris) was greatly amused by this.

Seriously though I miss origin characters. AT least everyone wasn't eager to betray you. Alistair was an idiot. But he never tried to kill you. Morrigan was a jerk to my characters but she never attacked them. Only Sten attacked them and his respect and loyalty can be earned.

With the DA2 crew it feels like they're just waiting for an excuse to stab me in the back. <_<

Loaded question: Why is it okay for Shepard to kill 300k innocent people to delay the inevitable attack, but Anders is a terrorist for killing about a dozen innocent people in the hopes of actually saving people? Is it because the player gets to do it? It isn't like there is a choice, it is mission failure if you don't - but because an NPC does it in DA, then it is endless hate and rage from some people? I'm still not saying Anders was right or wrong, and I totally expect people to come to their own conclusions, but why hate him?

(snip)

I believe Shepard had no other options.  I don't see it as "okay" but I do see it as necessary.  That mass relay had to be destroyed or we immediately say hello to our new Reaper overlords.  I think Anders had other, much better options.  Also, Anders lied to and betrayed my mage!Hawke to do what he did.  That gave it extra sting, for me.  Others have other interpretations, that's mine.

edit: I don't hate Anders.  Maybe rage at him, but don't hate him at all.  Can't speak for those that do.

Oh God, if there was ever a moment I wanted to tie Fenris up and deliver him to the magister in wrapping paper, that was it. He has no right to accuse mages of such weakness after THAT; but the broody elf is too stubborn to see reason. Can our Hawke chew him out? No.

They can but it doesn't mean they will. Otherwise there wouldn't be many mages passing their Harrowing. Fenris is so convinced mages are terrible and weak-minded individuals for making deals with demons it seems out of left field that he would make a deal with one.

Not a chance.

I know, but hey, I can day-dream. :P
(Of course, I also enjoy picturing Hawke dying at the hand of Templars or being captured and made Tranquil or something, and Anders going absolutely psychotic! Or flipside; Anders dies, and Hawke becomes a lunatic maleficar-abomination. Hell, she could become Vengeance's new host!)

Ugh this thread moves faaaast.

Just wanted to chime in on this and say, I also have interesting day dreams where my Hawke is captured/killed/made Tranquil and Anders finally losing his **** for once and for all.

I've also thought about the "Anders dying and Hawke becoming as obsessed as Anders and becomes Justice's new host", but then I thought... "Nah, too cliched."

Well, at least I'm not alone in my insanity.

Insanity can be fun sometimes. (Other times... not so fun. <_<)

Yeah, the Hawke thing is kind of cliche.

Plus I prefer Anders to Hawke, so seeing Hawke die would be preferable... plus I have an anst-fetish for tragic romantic death scenes followed by insanity and mass murder. (The gorier the better... also it appears Justice is somewhat into canibalism... or blood, at least. )

Aerin only takes Anders into the fade. She looks at it like this. He's an ex-circle mage so has experience with the fade and getting tempted by Demons. Merril is a Maleficar so she can't trust her not to deal with any demons they might meet and the non-mages have no experience of the fade so it's not fair to them to drag them along.

"You're pissing in the wind demon! I got my boy Fenris here to back my **** up. Fenris?"

And suddenly he's lobotomized you with a sword.

*shrug* I never brought him after the first time because Fenris and Aveline just have such a BAD reaction, I'd rather not.
Especially if I'm a mage.
But I think it goes to show... ANYONE can be tempted.  Except for a spirit.  It's not Anders that isn't tempted, it's Justice/Vengeance.

Human, elf, mage, warrior, rogue... we are all capable of falling to temptation.  And it also shows just how powerful a Dreamer can be... I thought it was interesting.

I seem to be stuck bringing Anders/Isabela/Merrill... but it seems the best.  At least their betrayal make perfect sense and don't mess up with anyone's brain.  My girls can take it!

Shepard's case was more clear-cut.  There was an immediate danger, and those 300K batarians died to directly save billions more.  Shepard was trying to delay war (or at least minimize casualties), while Anders was starting one.

ME TOO.  I'm not blaming him for being susceptible to the demon's influence.  That's what demons do, and it was obviously using its powers against them.  That's forgivable.  But Fenris continues to rant and rave about mages being so weak and susceptible to demons.  I'm not saying his points are entirely invalid, but it still makes me raise an eyebrow and go "Really?!" when Fenris makes a deal with a demon and then continues howling about how mages are evil for doing the same thing.

Fenris: You made a deal with a demon, you're evil.
Merrill: .....
Anders: .....Wait, didn't you just-
Hawke: Anders, don't. Do you really think it's going to go anywhere? That he's going to have some kind of epiphany. No, he'll just come up with some BS excuse and you guys will start fistfighting again.
Anders: But I-
Hawke: I SAID NO. GODDAMNIT.
