I actually like Twilight, though, but it's so easy to make fun of. I don't think anyone will every quite understand why the vampires are sparkly. What was wrong with the old fashioned non-sparkly kind?!

Sorry, but that whole book was ****. Vampires and werewolves aside, it was unrealistic. I can see how it would appeal to some...but the romance is terrible, the jealousy of two guys over a girl with ZERO personality and ZERO looks makes no sense, and the writing, in itself, makes me want to vomit Stephen King books.

Original as in Bram Stoker or Buffy The Vampire Slayer hadn't used it yet.  Bella is written to be blank on purpose so any one can put herself in her shoes.

And I can't believe I'm defending this.
