Question for my fellow Anders Gals:

I really want to finish my Rivalmance with the Siding with the Templars & all that drama ending. (C'mon, there's a KISS!)

So....sooo........

When do I have to use zz_dae_debug?? Right after the Chantry goes boom?

Or do I have to talk to him first, get rejected and then do it?

Please lemme know, this ending has my heart in knots and I WANT it!

Oh, FFS. This was not the first post I needed to see this morning.

Hmm...

"The only known way to force a demon from its host is to enter the Fade and confront it directly, but this only works when the host has become such willingly."

There should have been more opportunities to go into the Fade and talk to Justice. :(
I'm not saying I want to force him away, or get rid of him.
But an opportunity to help them both would have been nice...

I don't want to force Justice away either, because he is a good character with his heart in the right place - he just...he's ruthlessly virtuous. But this is also wearing Anders down. I'm afraid, with any romance path, the posession combined with the Taint will kill him faster. It kinda brings up the point on how a Darkspawn is souless, right? The Archdemon has the soul of an old god, but for it to be destroyed a Grey Warden - who is not souless - must destroy the Archdemon. The two souls cannot coexist, and the Warden - the host - dies. I wonder if having a spirit inside you would be akin to that scenario, if gentler and less...Archdemony.

Is Justice even in the Fade, anymore? No...no, he's not. In Awakening, he is completely and utterly banished from his home and must survive by taking posession of a willing host. That's the issue...how would someone banish a spirit that is literally inside someone? Maybe Fenris could reach in and yank him out. Idk.

I just refuse to believe that there is no way to separate them. I won't believe it until I am given absolute proof on the matter. And I'm sure Hawke would love to have alone time that is actually ALONE TIME. Lol.

"ruthlessly virtuous" -justice in a nutshell. The virtue of justice is pretty much vengeance with good intentions to me.
Ah, I miss the Awakenings banter. :(

I'm not trusting Fenris to yank anything out of Anders... oh geez, here comes the inapropriate interpretations. XD
Anyway, if there was some way to seperate them and return Justice to the Fade, while maintaining the link between them (like with Wynne) that would be nice.

If the spirit-possession thing and the Archdemon thing are under comparison as deaths, I'd consider the Archdemon to be gentler. It's more sudden and less drawn out and painful... for everybody involved.

There probably is a way to seperate them, and it probably involves blood magic and much sacrifice and pain.
I don't mind killing my Hawke to save Anders...
Or we place Justice's soul in a tabby cat's body!

You know what would do them a world of good? Going back to Amaranthine... or the old companions could go renegade Wardens, too!

Hey guys, I have a bit of an odd question for you all...

After patching 1.02 (or even if you recall it prior to 1.02) Do you remember seeing Fenris have conversation with the dog in act II?

I am asking because someone once mentioned triggering Anders romance scene, only to walk outside to front door and find Fenris talking to the dog about Mabari and Tevinter.

This conversation apparently never happens for characters in active romance (or flirt stage?) with Fenris.

So, if you had it trigger (without console help) at all, could you please give a nod? :) Devs are currently tracking down bugs to fix in 1.03 and it would be nice to give them something to work with.

Now that you mention it....

It DID trigger without a problem in my Anders!romanced playthroughs but not in my Fenris!romanced playthrough. (Rivalmance)

Man, I am so glad I missed out on the trillionth friendship vs. rivalry discussion. I'm glad for everyone who can discuss it like sane people. I, however, cannot. I think I start out discussing it as calmly as I can, but it quickly devolves into pulling hair and gnashing teeth. Heck, it devolves to that when I'm just reading it and not writing an actual response.

Honestly, I'll just be glad when the bugs are worked out or whatever and maybe it stops coming up as much. >_>

Ooooh... kaaay... How did I miss this?

"One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see."

Anyone betting this is Morrigan's child we're talking about?
(Hah! If everybody turns into a mage, the Chantry will have a bloody field-day! XD)
(Anders too, most likely.)

I can't see it being Morrigan's child because Gaider has already said the kid isn't canon unless you make it canon (as in, you do the DR). I for one would be peeved if the child is suddenly canon because I did playthroughs to specifically not have the DR. I think the OGB would be a great factor to add in, but shouldn't ever be made canon for everyone (why the heck did some of my Warden's have to die then?).

I could see it being a powerful mage or spirit though. If everyone also got magic or something like that, it certainly would be a good twist.

I know. It's a beautiful ending and I want to see it too. There's a thread call Anders crisis. That should tell you what you need to do.

Edit: give me a moment and I'll link it. Ah you already posted and got no info?

One would suspect you'd have to do it before speaking to Anders. Because once you talk to him you have to kill him or tell him to leave (and he shows up later).

And don't feel down. No one should make you feel lesser for liking an ending regardless of your resoning for liking it.

I've never had Fenris talking to the dog on any playthrough o_O. Everyone else has but not Fenris and I've mostly romanced Anders.

Yes, I'd be ticked too.

Hmm... maybe it's some kind of Maker-figure?

Hey, maybe it's Anders! XD
("When he rises"... Gaider said if you kill him, he's definately dead. Dead people never stay down though...)

Or are we talking about the last of the Old Gods/Archdemons? (I wonder what will happen after the final Blight? Only two more to go...)

Maybe it's the Creators. I mean the elves say that once all their kind were mages...

If all children born were suddenly mages, that makes a good alternative too. Good luck locking the whole of Thedas in a tower! XD
Mages are being born more and more frequently as DA2 passes, it seems...

I can still see Anders and various other apostates laughing like maniacs as the Chantry has a nervous breakdown.

Hm...I got fenris talking to the dog twice on a mage friendshipmance. I'm not sure what makes it trigger.

edit: IF you kill Anders he stays dead. Frankly if he arose from the dead it would irritate me. He deserved to die for what he did. He shouldn't get a free pass from those that decided to kill him. Not when they had the option to begin with.

Who says it would be Anders? Maybe it'd just be Justice/Vengeance or some weird, horrifying hybrid of their souls... :?

Though the "deserved" part is subjective. Everybody would probably get more inner-peace if he did get killed though. Hawke in particular... but I'm too soft. <_<
I look at him and I can still see him as his old Awakening self, arguing with Justice and annoying Nate... Damn, I wish things had turned out differently :crying:

I think Anders will stay dead. As much as I like him, I wouldn't want to see him come back from the dead. If only because if he comes back people would hate him even more. Plus, he (Anders and perhaps Justice) thought he deserved to die for what he did (whether we think it is subjective). I can't see him being too happy coming back as some sort of zombie or whatever. Especially if he was killed by a Hawke who had romanced him. He was already broken enough as it is without that happening.

I could, however, see it being something similar to the Creators since all Elves were supposedly once mages. Whatever "he" is, it does seem like he's maybe tied to there being more mages born recently.

If it's Vengeance with an Anders skin the body should be rotting just like Kristoff's. And if Justice plans on moving around with his insides rotting well...would make more sense for him get to get a new host.

True but he killed innocent people and I can't tranquil or imprision him. Death is the only option I have left. I could choose to run away with him but I have no interest in that husk that calls itself Anders.

I do too. Alas they didn't. And on the friendship path he was lucid and in control of himself. He expect you to kill him because frankly he thinks he deserves it too.

No, I'm sorry. People have said that they want it just for a one second fade to black kiss and whatever peace I've managed to make with this ending flies out the window and I start thinking that it's not supposed to be powerfully ****ed up at all and is, in fact, just to placate fans who prioritize sexy tiems over meaningful characterization.

I never understood getting irritated about how or why someone else enjoyed something. If you think it's OOC or whatever just ignore the option. I'm just a little bit tired of the "i'm glad it's bugged" attitude when it doesn't have to effect someone else's game. Just ignore it. If the mere presence of it bothers someone so much that they  can't bare someone else doing that ending. Well I'm sorry but screw em. There's the option to ignore it. Crying about that is on the same level as crying about a bisexual romance to me. It's optional. You don't like it? Ignore it.  You feel it ruins the character? Ignore it. You think it's massively OOC? Ignore it.

If you can't ignore it when it's not forced on you well cry me a river.

But don't try to tell people that they shouldn't have an ending that the developers put in the game just because you don't like it and expect me to take you seriously. If you can't enjoy the story without stomping on others toys too bad.

I'd like the Creators to be proved real, though it's unlikely.
Regardless, seeing the elves regain their lost culture would be awesome, though it could lead to a war of humans vs. elves again.

Oh, wouldn't that be grand.
Chantry vs. Mages
Orlais vs. Fereldan
Humans vs. Elves...

all at once. Yeah. That'd be peachy. :pinched:
Why not throw a blight in? With both Archdemons in it! :D

Thedas is going to the Void in a handbasket.
But at least it's a pretty handbasket.

Just curious what about Samson rubbed you the wrong way.  I liked that he helped the underground, and sided with Thrask.  He was a junkie, but that wasn't his choice.  I didn't even mind him turning against the underground, because that was when Grace and Friends were being utter ****s.  He screwed up with Feynriel and Thrask's daughter, but I suspect being a junkie impairs his judgement and ability to function.  And limits his resources and ability to help effectively.

Cullen is so wrong about many things, but he's so much better than he was after Uldred tortured him in DAO.  I like him as a character because of his recovery from that.  And he stands up to Meredith!  Refuses to kill the mages who surrender, earning the "I will flay the flesh from your insubordinate bones later" look from her.  He refuses to go through with Annulment, and cites the Ferelden Circle as an even worse case than Kirkwall, where some mages were saved!  DAO Cullen would NOT have done that.  I see him as someone who is wrong, but inherently decent, and thus redeemable or convincable or what have you.  Not arguing with you at all, just giving my opinion.

I didn't have pro-templar feelings so much as anti-bloodmage feelings.

Let's see.  Samson.  Pretty much the handing over mages to slavers.  I didn't feel compassion for him just because he was a jukie.  And as much as I wanted to strangle Grace, I disliked Samson's rant very much in that mission.  And he was helping mages for money.  I don't see the need to respect that at all.
Cullen is improved, yes.  But he still spends most of the game saying things that make me seethe.  He only really improves in act 3 and by then... okay dude, you at least made me rethink killing you on the spot, but that doesn't mean you've earned any respect or love from me.

Speaking of templars, last night I went to Sundermount to check out the Dalish/templar conflict cause I've never seen it.  Oh my, the templars tortured a dalish boy.  That's so uncool.  And yes, I killed all those templars without a second thought.

So you don't see anything of Anders left in the end?

I feel like I am missing something when people say this. He's absolutely not empty in the friendmance ending. He's grateful that you spare him, excited that he gets to help defend the mages. He has conversations with the other companions that sound pretty much the same as conversations he has throughout the game. When you talk to him in the Gallows he obviously has dreams, a purpose, and it's the one that Anders has wanted from the moment you meet him in Awakening.

It's also clear that he still cares for Hawke, whether he's romanced or not, and he's genuinely happy when Hawke says that s/he'll stay beside him. This is also very much Anders, because Justice would not give a good goddamn whether Hawke lives, dies or runs away to Antiva with Zevran and Isabela.

I just don't see how anyone could say that a person who hopes and loves in an empty husk.
