What do they do with Templars after the lyrium finally gets to their brain, anyway...?

Apparently they all retire to Val Royeaux, as per the Templer in front of the Denerim Chantry in Origins about his older partner.

...lovely.
How is a paranoid, lyrium-addled junkie with a sword supposed to be safer than an abomination?

(Yes, I know on a danger scale, Templars are well bellow abominations, but that wasn't my point.)

Shhh! The Chantry dismisses all knowledge of irony and hypocrisy...Shhh.

Anyway, I really hope the mage situation really gets somewhere in future DA games. I can kinda see it as one of those conflicts that never gets solved unfortunately.

Ohh I don't think this whole DA2 set-up was for nothing. I do honestly believe an expansion pack will have to finish the story, because otherwise I will have to agree that you can have too much of a cliff-hanging-closure-lacking ending. There is Sandal's prophesy and Gaider's cryptic: So far you've only got the Chantry system and the Tevinter system as the only two options. If something else will get thrown on the table remains to be seen.

So hopefully, there will be more.

Also, I got this crazy idea yesterday that maybe new facts about the chantry will be revealed that will turn the whole Anders thing around. It would be an aaaawesome emotional twist to make everyone who hates him realise he was right to do what he did. Ohh I can dream...

The closest I have to that is Leon. But he's not terrifying in the in your face way. Oh no. He'll smile tell you what you want to hear be there for you, and before you know it you're completely ensnared in his trap and never even realize it. You start doing things you wouldn't usually consider because he wants it, just a smile or a frown from him will make decisions for you because before you know it you crave approval from him.

I'm not sure whether to make him a very charismatic warrior or a bloodmage.

And he cares about no one other than himself. You'd never know it from talking to him though.

BLOOD MAGE!  BLOOD MAGE!  *waves little maleficarum banner*

Natale Hawke would like Leon   She's a lot like Azula in that she can be all reasonable and polite one minute, and just radiate menace the next.  As the game goes on and things get more out of hand with the mages, she slowly drops the mask of courtesy.  By the end of Act 3, she is terrifying to anyone who even thinks of crossing her.

*looks at litte maleficarum banner* Should I ask if there's more?

Nice. I love when two chessmasters combat. Of course things very quickly get confusing with the "I know you know that I know that you know that I know..." thing. *looks at Death Note. :?

My Leon's not scary. He's too calm and reasonable. People usually laugh and think he's weak and well...that's usually the last thing that happens. And he just walks off cool as a cucumber while wiping off the murder knife. This is assuming he even had to get his hands dirty in the first place since everyone around him usually ends up protective of him so he very rarely has to fight for himself. He's very much a hands off kind of guy preferring his puppets to do the fighting for him.

Not that he can't fight for himself (and extremely well at that). He's just the type that prefers to watch. (That's why I can RP him so well as not doing anything during the time skips. He just observes).

And once Anders blows up the Chanty Leon sees his chance. Meredith is overzealous true, but defending the magesmeans he'll have to run and leave all the toys he has behind. Anders is useless to him because he's uncontrollable so he disposes of him. Plus Sebastian was a far more useful tool and one that came with more toys for him to control. The others though...the others will be useful in combat (Aveline has the guard he can use) if nothing else so he uses their aid. He sides with Meredith fully expecting her to stab him in the back. However, over the years he's been very helpful to Cullen (and Elthina but she's kind of dead by then) he's hoping she'll have an "accident" during the battle. If she doesn't he'll arrange for her to be replaced by blaming Anders' running wild on her. The whole time he's eyeing the Vicount's seat. Without Meredith he's the most powerful and well what Leon wants...Leon gets.
I did base him(very very loosely) of Aizen from Bleach. Except he doesn't tend to flip out if he loses his toys.  Leon knows better. If you lose a toy keep your cool. It might not be as lost as you initally think.

Oh you know the ferelden mages weren't even allowed to go for walks in the courtyard after someone tried to make a run for it? I wonder if that was Anders :D

Wouldn't be surprised. He tends to ruin it for all other mages.XD

www.youtube.com/watch

I seriously want a series of Anders' escape attempts. Narrated by him.

But now I feel bad for mages like Finn and with starting the whole revoluationary deal and all.

For some reason, I get the impression that my Warden dragged Flora and Ariane allong for the ride when she up and vanished...

So Anders DID ruin it for everyone. Well, not for Finn. He might have earned himself a fan in that case.

For me, it's a toss-up between the broodmothers and the harvesters, because... I dunno, there's just something about that degree of Body Horror that rubs me the wrong way.
I'm not even a particularly squeamish person, bu....gnnnhrf. :c
Tranquility's a close second, though, particularly since I used to have a phobia of people rooting around in my grey matter. Taking something away from a person that is, fundamentally, what makes them them is just- it's beyond rape. My opinion, of course, but this would explain why I'm incapable of playing pro-Templar characters.

Haha, I'm part of a roleplaying group and I roleplay as a "nice" Templar in Kirkwall who was transfered from elsewhere.  It's REALLY... REALLY HARD, and my Templar character is bound to go bonkers any day now.  And our Templars do mess with each other, like "I don't think he loves the Maker enough!  Look at him, those mages seem perfectly content with him watching over them!"

Seriously, they do have to give us some kind of answer about what set Anders back in motion to the point of blowing up the Chantry when he hadn't been involved in the mage movement for the last three years. That's a glaring oversight IMO, and I'm hoping they intend to give us an answer in some DLC. I don't think they can make him "right" for what he did in anyone's eyes who hates him, but I doubt they'll try, anyway. It IS Bioware after all.

My personal canon is that Anders found out Meredith sent for the Rite of Annullment and that's what set him in motion. That would have been an easy line of dialogue to fit into the game, though, so that's probably not it.

Hmmm... well, I'm no mage, but as somebody with actual incurable real life problems, I can see why tranquility would apeal to some.

Regardless, the idea of forcing it on somebody is absolutely repulsive.

If I was a mage I think I would have a seriously hard time believing in this "Maker". Heck, I wouldn't even have to be a mage to think that. :?

Of course, if you try to make an argument about how mages should be free while thinking that, you're not going to get very far.

It's a forum/irc-based one.  Pretty small so far, but here you go.  It's pretty easy-going and stuff -- just no canon characters.  Or else I'd be playing Anders in a heartbeat.
