Oh, and I guess Dreaming in an Empty Room is sort of related to it, but that's more about the room metaphor than the hilarious melodrama
Ooh sweet procrastination material!

The way the illusion of 'reality' deteriorates for Raiden kind of reminds me of how the illusion of control in DA2 falls apart as the cluster**** escalates. Your commanding officer is a video game simulation within a video game simulation = terrorism versus police state, take your pick. Raiden is limited by being a 'video game character', Hawke is limited by just being human (with a few PC perks.)
IT'S GOOD ****. The kind of stories that really can only be told by a video game. I loff it.
Also this is probably terribly art nerdy and just a coincidence but I think it's a little funny that the color scheme of Big Shell (lots of orange and green) is similar to the color scheme of The Matrix. As in, the world inside The Matrix. Once Raiden, uh, wakes up, things become more cool and blue, like 'the real world.' I wonder if that was an influence.

Anders fanfic, it keeps me up and reading instead of sleeping. All you author type people, my letter of gratitude and bill for insomnia treatment will be in the mail.
edit: I forgot that the veal holds no terror for her.

"It is still a thrill to turn and see you beside me."
When does he say that?! It sounds like his ambient clickable dialogue but I've never gotten it. After the romance starts, all I ever get is the "I don't know whether to cherish every moment or fear blah blah blah". That line is good too but I want both!

I love these games and their TOO DEEP FOR YOU pretention so much, and then my friends tell me "i was so pissed when mgs2 came out, i wouldnt have played it if i knew i couldnt be snake" and "lol i didn't bother to do anders quests because he seemed gay" and then I remember they're just too good for this worldPseudocognition wrote...
Oh, it was really good. I hadn't thought too hard about the comment about his room being empty, that's one more thing to think about. I can't remember, it was a while ago, but I believe this was the one I first read.

The whole color scheme is actually pretty interesting when you consider its juxtaposition against MGS1 and their contradictory themes of drabness/idealism vs. vibrancy/cyncism. There is an essay about this somewhere that I will find hu huhuhuAlso this is probably terribly art nerdy and just a coincidence but I think it's a little funny that the color scheme of Big Shell (lots of orange and green) is similar to the color scheme of The Matrix. That, and the suffering of poor Mother Perpetua. "There is NO veal in the Chant! Argh!" That Sister Theohild, she be trollin', methinks. For the lulz.
If there had been anyone like that in the Kirkwall Chantry, Anders would also have been responsible for killing comedy! The two gossipy sisters were nice enough, but they were no Sister Theohild.

If he had killed them I would have made him dress up as a rubbish tiger and dance for my amusement in the viscounts keep.

All the more reason for Anders, Morrigan, and Isabela to make snide comments about the Chantry.

I had it once in act 3. It's really hard to get and I've only had it once. It's ambient dialog before the Justice quest triggers. so you have to be in an area that triggers his normal dialog - not the hightown one or the gallows one and not have the justice quest triggered as he starts telling you to go to his clinic then. Oh and you have to have romanced him.
well this is when I got it the first playthrough, never had it since but always forget to click on him before Justice.

Ah, no wonder why I haven't gotten this yet. Justice is one of the first Act 3 quests I start. OK! Off to do it on my next playthrough!
Wait...have to finish writing Anders wall sex first. Hmm...

actually iirc once the justice quest triggers and appears in your journal you can't get it, he's all "come speak to me in my clinic'
then he's all 'got to get salae petrae and drakestone'
then he's all 'there's one more thing speak to me at my clinic'
then he's all 'let's just focus on the task at hand'
I play this far too much......
