Nah. My canon Hawke (icon!) is pretty inseparable from Anders, I just envy the male dialogue. I love Boulton's voice work in the game, I just prefer playing female badasses in games that will let me. I also prefer Lady Hawke in romances with all the companions except Fenris.

Oh forget that.  My canon Hawke was hooked from the moment she heard about him.  Helping the poor?  Curing people?  Oh my heart, my poor heart!
It didn't help that he was deliciously hot to boot too.

Yay! I was scared... everyone goes on about M!Hawke/Anders and it made me wonder...

I nerver hear that dialog because I can't bring myself to do a M/M or F/F playthrough... presonal preference here.

Thirded. Gaynders isn't nearly as creepy and is overall much more enjoyable romance than with LadyHawke.

I must say, though, I'm not overly bothered by it. Gives me an excuse to play more male characters for a change, especially with the great VA. And it's not like there's been an excess of good m/m focused romances in games, anyway, so a little disparity makes up for the years of no gay option.

Why does there have to be any disparity? And why should it be at the expense of predominately female players? I'm genuinely glad that they made the s/s relationships in DA2 good and distinctive, but for that one conversation the difference in quality and meaning is so vast and it didn't have to be. Add in "insulting to women" and it's...not even a little cool, since female gamers haven't exactly been catered to. 

There doesn't have to be disparity, I'm just not bothered by it existing right now. The gaming industry is just getting into catering to the "new" audiences, taking small steps at a time. Now, if we're not seeing better stuff in the upcoming games, now that the first steps have been taken, then I'll get bothered.

Hnnnng. I started a male Hawke not too long ago to either go for Fenris or Isabela after doing Anders 3 times... But now I might have to become a Gay Wizard for him first.

Eh, everyone has their own preferences.
I, for example, prefer male Hawke and Anders. For some reason, romancing him as a female seems...eh. Probably because I'm thinking that no female I know would have the patience to take every osbtacle he throws at Hawke. I know I wouldn't.
The first convo would be like,

Anders: Don't go there. I'll only hurt you.
AlexaHawke: Well, thanks for the warning. -skips off to find someone who won't hurt me-

I guess I just see gay Hawke and Anders getting along a lot better.

But Fenris is like...a female's dream. If he wasn't so stuck on his hatred. Sexy male voice. Wields a big sword so you know he's strongggg. And tattoos. Oooooh I love tattoos. They cause you pain? EVEN BETTER.

But that's just the way I see it.

It's all good. I play female in pretty much every game. My Wardens (save one) and all my Shepards were straight women (save one, again). I like playing the brash, bold lady hero who kicks ass and takes names and usually beds (or tries to) anyone she can xD

Not the case for me in DA2, when I can play a homosexual character in a romance that is the most interconnected with the story? I jumped a the chance. I like the progression for a male Hawke relationship with Anders better, but that's my preference and shouldn't dictate how others choose to play their game. Actually, all my Hawkes have been gay/bi, even my eventual Lady Hawke that keeps on being ignored will go for Izzy or Merrill and bypass boy cooties. My computer contains an army of teh gay Hoks, lol.

  That was actually painful for me to write.  My best friend and beta was all like, "OMG angry vengeful Seb is so goddamn hot."  And I was all like, "Yes, but he's a stubborn MORON and now I have to fry him!  *wail*"

Yes, I mardared Seb because if I can't tap that, NO ONE ELSE CAN

Same here. My husband's the same, he always plays a female character and not because "If I have to stare at someone's *ss..." reason either, he just likes a female protagonist who kicks butt. I've played a mHawke romancing Anders though and really loved it, I'll definitely play it again, I just prefer playing as a female, regardless of any differences in gameplay that may arise.

You could always have murderous Justice/Anders and Seb rushing towards eachother on the beach, but at the last second they collapse into the surf in a lovers embrace - ala From Here to Eternity. Totally in character. Totally!
