Haha.

Anders would pretty much flirt with anything female. <_<
Except the Warden, it seems which was just as well for him because she would have castrated him, because Dalish women are crazy.

He flirted with my Cousland... sort of. Thrice, I think.

Such a tease. Tsk tsk.

I wasn't really interested in Anders as an LI in Awkening really, to my Warden I suppose he was a bit like a really annoying, goofy older/younger brother.

Then DA2 came along and ohmygodyes:wub:

EDIT: Crap. ToP... er...
Here, Anders annoying Carver.

Truth.

But I mean really, we can't blame the writers. They knew that if Anders had been a romance option, no one would have stayed faithful to Alistair. :P

Warden: "Oh yeah, I'm married to the king and also your superior."

Anders: "Have I told you you look remarkably lovely today?"

Warden: *Jumps on Anders*

Anders:

Does the 'tattoos' line count if your warden was Dalish? *is hopeful*

And yeah, all Dalish women are crazy. Tru fax.

Yeah, I didn't see him as a brother to my Warden, but he didn't really seem quite like LI material yet. At least, not enough so that any of my Wardens would have cheated. I may have made a new Warden just for him though...

This. Hell, my Cousland probably would have walked away before Alistair could even whatever before he left.

Alistair:
But...I want to say good bye! And whisper inappropriate things in your ear with my sexy, sexy voice.
Warden: He said that I was pretty and pragmatic!
Alistair: You're never coming home again, are you?
Warden: You really should have known better than to remind me about the Right of Conscription.
Alistair: Excuse me for being confident in our love for one another!
Warden:  And he has an earring!

On my Cousland, Anders approval stats was a Love, but so was Velanna's oddly.

RE: Velanna

Everyone hates her for some reason, but she's my third favorite Awakening companion after Anders and Sigrun. I don't know what it is, but I find her open hostility and petulance charming. She also has the best epilogue card ever if you get her to Love and take her with to the Architect:

"Her friendship with the Warden-Commander changed her opinions of humankind significantly. Shortly after the Mother's defeat, darkspawn stragglers who still remained on the surface attacked a human village, Velanna was the only Warden nearby, and defended the village single-handedly. She did not sneer once."

The order I liked them was:

Anders, Sigrun, Nate, Justice, Oghren, and then Valenna. I didn't hate Valenna though. I find it hard, if not impossible, to hate my companions in BW games. Some I might like less than others, but I'm still fond of them all in different ways.

Indeed.

I didn't hate her either, not exactly. My Cousland killed her, but when I did another playthrough with my non canon Warden, I spared her.

My list though is: Anders, Justice, Nate, Oghren, Sigrun, Valenna.

I think I'd like Sigrun more, but I've never made her a Warden because I always do the Deep Roads last, and when I return to the keep the Seneschal is all "NO TIME FOR WARDENS WE MUST GO TO WAR!"

I always get Justice first. I <3 Justice so much.

1) Ser-Pounce-a-lot
1) Nate
2) Anders
3) Oghren
^ Those three are the ones I took with me to fight the mother.... and pretty much everywhere (Why didn't Oghren make a cameo in DA2? The banter would have been amazing (especially for Anders in a romance with Hawke. XD)

4) Justice
5) Sigrun
6) Velanna

I don't mind Velanna, I just don't find her very likeable.

See, I love the whole Dalish elf lore, and pretty much think they're all awesome, but I'm very ambivalent about Velanna. I guess she just felt like a slightly less charming Morrigan to me (and I love Morrigan, just for the record). I liked that Velanna did mellow a bit though. My Dalish Warden was mostly just facepalming at Velanna's bad Dalish PR though.

And I now think I'll have to replay Awakening because Velanna disappeared in my one and only save. :(

Edit:
Hmm, I seem to be the only one here who's not so fond of Oghren and Justice.

I know. It must have been really embarassing for Mahariel.
"Not all my people are like this, I swear!"
Or "Creators, tell me I was never this bad!"

Ah... all this talk of Dalish elves makes me miss Tamlen.
Stupid boy. :(

Not liking Oghren is completely understandable. He's like marmite.

Same for Justice.
It's not his fault that his view of the world is restricted to black and white, but sheesh, there were times when he got on my nerves.

I trully cannot understand what made Anders think it was a good idea to share his soul with a Spirit of justice, of all things!

My Cousland was way too taken up with her new husband and dreaming of happily-ever-afters. Brosca had Anders down as a troublemaker the moment she saw him and was glad to hand him over to the templars when she had the chance.
Tabris? Sent pornographic letters off to Zevran describing all the things she'd like to do to Anders, Nate and Sigrun to work out the frustrations that she couldn't actually seduce any of them.
My Amell, though... Haha, she's going to be so ****ing embarrassed to run into Anders again. That will be glorious to play out.

As for Awakening companions... hrm. Anders, then Oghren and Sigrun tied for second place. Then Pounce. Then Varel. Then Mhairi. After that, Nate. Then Justice and Velanna, lagging a bit behind my mabari who wasn't even in the game. Interesting characters, sure. Just not ones I liked.

Nope, me as well.

My last Awakening playthrough, when we met with the Queen and Oghren declared he was going to become a Warden, I said no and Conscripted Anders. Oghren was jealous and pissy...and then he went away, and it was glorious. I told Velanna to take a hike too, just 'cause. My character selection screen for the final battle didn't really leave much to debate over.

"uuhhhhh....Sigrun, defend the whole keep by yourself, okay bye!" *skips away with boys*

You know it's funny. I've never played a Mage in Origins. I loved them as companions sure, and I controled them enough of the time that I liked the playstyle. I just, you know, never wanted to be a mage.

Whatever posessed my to make my first [and canon] Hawke a mage is beyond me, but Maker am I glad I did.

Ever since, I've wanted to go back and do an Origins/Awakening playthrough with an Amell, just because. :3

To be fair, by the end of Awakening Justice wasn't exactly so... black and white, at least not in my game. I blame my Warden for corrupting Justice. Yup.

I'm sure Awakening Anders would say something along the lines of, 'Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time!"

And I loved Oghren, he made me laugh, especially when he called Anders' my Warden's boyfriend. =P

I just wish I could have made room for him in my party. >.<

LMFAO.
I love Oghren, just because he's so loud and drunk and just doesn't give a ****.
Just like my love for Jack (in ME2), loud and angry and just doesn't give a ****. And wants to fight things. A lot. I am weak to her charms.

Plus Oghren had some funny ass dialogue in Origins. Seriously, like me laughing on the floor rolling around hysterically funny. And his banter with Anders? Equally funny.

They made it pretty much impossible NOT to want to be a mage in DA2.
Why? Because the storyline would be so much better if you were.
I mean, they give you this wicked awesome abilities, the Robes of the Champion are sweet, and they pretty much say in the guide that it's the best class in DA2. Kinda like rogue was in Origins, for those who didn't feel like having the slowest damn gameplay ever. I tried to be a two handed warrior in Origins. The enemy would get four hits on me before I even got one.

@Dreaming: Oh Tamlen. :crying: I got way too into my canon Warden. Witch Hunt was not a fun experience, stupid Eluvian!

It's not that I don't like Oghren, I can just only tolerate him in small doses. The same goes for Justice really, although I was more inclined to like Justice purely for the fact of his endearing curiosity about the world.

I suspect Anders' merging with Justice was more of an 'Oh f*ck it!' moment what with those Templars, and also Nate putting ideas in his head. It's all Nathaniel's fault! Goddamnit! *goes to sob in a corner*

@Kolotosa: You can do that!? Hmm . . . Sigrun's badass, she can defend the keep all by her onesies!
Also, I totally went out and bought a packet of Twixes because of that link in your sig. ;)

I sometimes feel bad for the other Awakening companions because I just took whomever I liked most to the last battle. So, while I didn't need Anders and he would have survived at the Keep if I left him, there was no way I was going to be without him in the end. I rotated out most everyone else throughout the game, but I always had Anders with me. Thus, Valenna disappeared in the end because there was no way I was going to swap out Anders.

Pretty much.

The second Anders was in my party he never left it. Warden and Anders... and whoever else was appropriate. Usually it was Nate/Justice, but for the Deep Roads I had Oghren/Sigrun.

I've played a couple of mages part way through DA:O before abandoning them to go play another rogue - they were fun, like you say, but it was never really my class. Wasn't until DA2 came out that I really wanted to finish a run so I can have Cait Amell and Amelia Hawke, the mage cousins with strangely parallel lives.
Yeah, yeah, could use an import generator, but where's the fun in that? So much easier to get a proper feel for the character by doing a full run. Besides, this gives me a reason to replay Awakening and Witch Hunt.
