I realize some of you feel this is not a big deal. You probably don't have much going on. For a regular person with a regular job, going to a midnight launch is a big deal time wise. Wasting an evening on this crap is a huge letdown.

Actually - BioWare and EA have total control over midnight launches. Gaming companies highly encourage midnight launch's and will go out of their way to pay companies to support Midnight releases of their product.
EA could have sent out a corporate memo to gamestop to inform them, it would have gone down the chain of command to the store level. People could have been informed very easily.
Instead EA gave the thumbs up for midnight launch for their product fully knowing the 3am shut out time, and thats poor form indeed.

also, this.

40yr old prof. male I stayed up for a midnight release and burnt a day of PTO ($228 USD) to get it at midnight and play into the wee hours, even splurged on the guide. I head to GS and grab my pre-ordered copy... W00t! (albeit short lived) I came back kissed the Mrs. goodnight and ran off to play,

Went down and started the install while I poured myself a nice tummy warmer and even dropped a couple of cubes into the tumbler. Had a nice pull then put a match to a nice Jaime Garcia Reserve Especial fresh from the humidor. The mood was set.. I saw the install nearing completion so I quickly activated the signature online materials, imagining what kind of magic would be interwoven into this next Bioware visual novel. Install finished, Play!!

Then it started Release date check... ok cool prolly check timezone it's 12:23am CST.... 2am!?!? zero hundred hours PST... now the bourbon is watered down the ooh and ah's replaced by the nodding of my head as I go on back to bed and wish I would have waited till morning. Please set the "release" parties to timezone related events I dropped about $300 bones just to feel like an aging twi-****** who just ran out to buy the newest sparkly sunshine vampire book.

ok so who is the lamer nug programer that but in this lame time lock out till 3 am so that the folks that pre ordered and went to the midnight release cant play???

I don't know but I think that person, or rather that person's boss, needs a Drastic Pay Cut!!!

The worst part is all of us who were/are unconvinced by this get nothing in return for our wasted time and NOTHING will happen to those responsible for this time-zone, failed anti-piracy, lunacy. Obviously the anti-piracy is a joke or Usenet wouldn't already have a working cracked version of the game up. That means all us PC players were screwed out of our time for NOTHING.

Personally, I've had a really bad night. I'm physically disabled and I had to go through a LOT of BS to even get to the store at midnight EST. The one thing that was going to make it all worth it was coming home and getting to play. Normally I'm not a whiner, but this crap is ridiculous. The only reason I even went to the actual store to buy my copy is because I wanted to avoid all the time-zone and unlock issues that I know digital copies usually have to deal with.

For those of you who can't wait until 3 AM... just how late were you planning to stay up? You're telling me you weren't even going to play the game for 2 - 3 hours? What's the point? Why not just go to bed and forget about the game completely? That's like... posing as a hardcore, but not acting like a hardcore. Hell, if that's all the playtime you were actually going to get, it can wait.

wow, people are getting angry at waiting 3hours? As Yamsandjams said unless you were planning to play all night I don't understand why people are getting so angry. Just play it tomorrow morning, if you have work tomorrow morning, why are you up so late playing a video game? :/

I have another 44 hours to wait :(

That's my point though. Just wait until tomorrow, your sleep is much more valuable. Making these kinds of deriding comments and accusations only makes sense if you're a nerd with nothing better to do, not if you actually have important stuff on your plate. Staying up late to play games is probably detrimental to your health and work performance. Hell, it's just a game... seriously. And then you don't even go to bed yet, you come here to complain. No point in working youself up over it. Honestly, calm it down, peeps.

You live where you live, I live where I live. The point being, They announced Midnight US launch. It's Midnight in the US. I paid, and I want my game. If Bioware does this again I'll seriously consider not buying their products. I understand piracy concerns. But legitimate players want access to the game, and compensation, and the promised time of release is here. They arent keeping their end of the bargain.

Yes they are. Your time zone =/= the Midnight Release timezone. The U.S. is big, it spans several time zones; don't like it, move to California.

Everyone in the U.S. (and I assume Canada) will play at the same time, though depending on your location the number on your clock will differ.

I have class at 7:30 in the morning. Shortly after my classes let out at 1:10, I have to go to work at 2 and won't get off until 10. So, I would have appreciated getting the sleep instead of staying up for nothing. If I had known that I wouldn't be able to play at midnight after waiting for the midnight release, I would have waited and gotten some sleep.

I'm not really riled about it, miffed sure but not gather torches and pitch forks over it. Personally I attend the midnight releases at my normal store because the managers treat me VERY nice when I do with free stuff since I've been a loyal customer for years. My other reason for going was I wanted to have everything installed and running for when I got home from work in the afternoon and since I work 6AM till 3PM I really wouldn't lose that much sleep either way. I think MOST people are riled because like myself did not read anywhere that it was locked to PST.

ahh, I guess I would be quite mad as well then that you stayed up for nothing without warning - ahh well, its just a game, what can you do

@ Jits00

You just sound pathetic, do you tell your RL friends and family that you spend your nights complaining on video game forums about having to wait 3hrs to play your computer game?

It's only another 15 minutes, so he'll wait, install it, and play it all day (calling out sick.) Because he's a regular guy with a job and children who's also a gamer.

In 15 minutes, he'll love BioWare again.

Sleep tight, don't let those bedbugs bite. I'll enjoy DA2 doubly for both of us.
