Batman: Arkham Asylum. I'm a huge fan of the Bat, and after playing the demo at my local Walmart, I was more excited than I had ever been before. Finally a game that actually delivered the fun of being Batman.

Not quite like this. I have been excited over games, but usually I have had something else to occupy my mind until release day.

This time around however, I have been stuck with lots of real life problems that only time can sort out and very little to do with my free time. The wait for Dragon Age has thus been something of a "When it gets released, I can put this behind me" (incidentially, it is on the same day as the conclusion of this college course and the problems that came with it).

Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 have had me very excited, probably more so than DA in the past. With the impending release however (and no sign of D3 until at least 2011, knowing Blizzard's development schedule), DA has put Blizz on the back shelf for the time being. The real test of DA for me will be if I feel the same way in two weeks. Given my past experiences with BioWare though, Blizz probably has to release Starcraft 2 before I'll focus heavily on that community again.

Only time I've ever pre-ordered a game, though I was pretty excited for The Burning Crusade (went at midnight and picked it up).

I took a great approach to DA:O to prevent myself from getting over-hyped and let down by it: I simply didn't pay any attention to it between 2005 and last month. Sure, I followed it from time to time, but knowing It would be years before it came out I decided not to go fanboy and have my hopes dashed upon release. A wise move, methinks.

As for other games I've been this hyped about. The only one that comes close is most likely Morrowind, followed by Twilight Princess. The former set a benchmark, the latter was a horrible let down.

No.

"DA:O" is even the first game I preordered. Usually I wait one, two years until the price drops rapidly, and then buy a game.

But then again, I've never really followed a games progress before release-date... I don't know what kept my interest about DA:O that high over months... but it surely is the first game I am that excited about. Maybe it's the atmosphere, maybe the idea of a "dark" fantasy game, maybe they characters... I can't really tell.

But here I am, one week before release and almost squeeing like a teenager about the reunion of a boyband. Hehe...

I won't say how long it has been since I have anticipated a game this much, but it is making me feel young instead of old, so that is a good thing.

Yes many but then I've been gaming for over 20 years. Sadly it's often disappointing when the game you've been waiting for comes out....but I hope Dragon Age won't be all indications apart from one are that it will be great.

Honestly? I was more excited with NWN: HotU, KoToR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect. Now more than DA:O Im excited with Modern Warfare 2, FFXIII and Mass Effect 2. Im sure DA:O will be good, solid game but still Im not sure if it will be as great for me as Baldur's Gate serie was, which Im playing still by last 10 years ( and I still have a lot of fun).

I tried to think back to times when I was excited about a release, and not one game came to mind right away. This tells me right off that the answer is no.

I remember Oblivion, I was waiting for that one. Before that, I used to be excited and wait for any Squaresoft game..before they merged with Enix. Other than that, I really can't think of a game that I really was that into, where I sat at the forums posting and all that..there's been some games out there but nothing like this.

Half Life 2 and Oblivion. Both were a complete letdown..

in your opinion<_<

Why would I be talking about anyone else's opinion?

You stated it as a fact rather than your opinion.

My hype for Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 is very similar to DA;O.

Yearssssss ago I was really excited for World of Warcraft when it was about to come out.

I've been more excited over numerous game releases. Final Fantasy VIII (last Final Fantasy I was excited for), Xenosaga, Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Resistance 2.

I'm not that big a Bioware fan, honestly. I still have nightmares from Neverwinter Nights. But I'm hopeful for Dragon Age.

I'd say this has been my most anticipated game. I was pretty stoked for Mass Effect before it came out. But not as excited as I am now.

Hell I took the 4th and 5th off just to play the game. :)

Well, this game might be something extraordinary. I haven't felt this sence of epicness in a long time! Not even while I was waiting for the witcher to go gold. Or oblivion. (which was a failure btw xD)

I have been this excited three times, all those were for sequels. This is the first time I am this excited about an original game.

Baldur's Gate II, Half-Life 2 and Diablo II was the ones in question, if anyone wonders.

I have been excited about a number of games: Vanguard (my god, what a dissapointment), I bought an x-box just for Mass Effect (and it was totally worth it! Best game ever!). I am looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic, but realized that however much you want a game to rock, you can never really count on it. I am looking forward to DAO (I preordered and everything), but still, it is just a game. I try to keep my perspective.

Halo 2,Posted Image hours later i knew the it wasn't what i expected.
Final Fantasy XII, i even bought a PS2 to have it and i must say that i'm very happy for that.
And finnaly, this game, the only bad thing for me is that i won't have the money to get on time, (maybe on december, if everything goes fine), and that's really killing me, i'll have to wait at least one more month, i just wish that here in Mexico the game weren't so expensive.

PS: And haven't bought Halo 3, i dont want to waste more money. Posted Image

Never been quite this excited, at least not as I remember.

KOTOR 2, Oblivion, and Halo 2 come fairly close. (I was pretty happy with the former two, less so with the latter one.)
