No. I've been playing computer games since my Commodore 64 was a "good computer", and I have never, EVER in my life been even close to as excited about a game coming out as I am about Dragon Age.

Prior to Dragon Age . . . I never would have considered myself a "fanboy" of a game or a game company. But now I am, and quite without reservation!

Prior to Dragon Age, I never pre-ordered a game. Pre-ordered my copy of Dragon Age from Amazon months ago!

Prior to Dragon Age, I never spent hours every day, for weeks and weeks preceding a game's release, scouring the Internet for every interview, video, forum post, preview, review, podcast, and wiki entry about a game that I could find.

Prior to Dragon Age, I never played a flash/browser game for more than a few minutes. Played DA: Journeys through three times, and I'm gonna play it again!

Prior to Dragon Age, I never felt like the time I had to wait for a game to be released was an interminable period of desperate longing. I'm starving for this game!

And everything I see, hear, or read about Dragon Age makes me love it more, want it more.

So no, I've not been this excited over a game release before. Not by a wide, wide margin.

Mistersunshine basically said what I would say (with some minor editing :))

I've been excited about previous games, but I never really allowed myself to develop the level of, um, healthy addiction that I have for this game.

Being disabled, laid-off, and bored for almost an entire year probably helped the process along, however.

Speaking as a gamer who almost exclusivly plays sports titles, though I am a fan of the halos and oblivion, I have never ever been this excited about a game before, I was a bit belated in learning about the game since the first time I read about it was in Gameinformer i immediatly went to my computer and found every once of info i could and absolutly cannot wait for this game to come out and BE MINE!!!!

I was really excited for Fallout 3, that was one of the first games I ever followed on the forums, followed by Gears of War 2 (It was coming out on my birthday). This game makes me hopefully, because I am one of the few who really enjoyed Fallout 3 for WHAT IT WAS and not what it was hyped to be.. I RPed everything in that game, a little bit of mods go a long way.

If you managed to RP your way through Fallout 3, you would love Planescape : Torment.

Seriously, I'm a hardcore RPer, and I just gave up three hours into Fallout 3.

I'm excited about DA:O... been waiting for a long time. But... nothing has me more on the edge of my seat, waiting with baited breath than Diablo 3. Hopefully DA can hold me over until that comes out.

Don't think i've ever been as excited about a game as i have been for Dragon Age. Having said that though, i was pretty excited about mass effect, even bought my xbox360 the same day it came out. There have also been games that have piqued my interest before they were released, such as Dead space and Fallout 3, but only enough so that I checked out their trailers. DAs definately the first game where i've actually delved into the forums, just so i wont go crazy from waiting.

Is it better than BG? Cause I could not get in to BGII at all for some reason, but I liked Icewind Dale.

I was really excited about Mass Effect because let's face it, I love Bioware's style of creating great stories. The graphics aren't always the greatest and the combat systems can sometimes be a snooze, but overall, Bioware makes the best storylines and I'm all about story.

This is only the third game I have ever preordered, and one of the first that I have allowed myself to get caught up in the hype. The storyline looks AWESOME, and I am counting down the last few days until I can jump right into this. (The other games I preordered were Fallout 3, which was ok, but sort of got monotonous after awhile and World of Warcraft.)

Nope. The only other game I plan to play after I get Dragon Age is DC Online, and I'm nowhere near as amped for that as I am for Dragon Age.

I've been a long term fan and this is the first game of Bioware's...actually likely the first game ever I preordered. I just bought the collector's edition of BG2 when it was in the store. The cloth map will be the coolest part for me, IWD had a great cloth map, I still have the darn thing.

Yes twice. First about Mass Effect. The second excitement will begin in about two months when Mass Effect 2 is closing in.

It's pretty much the polar opposite of Icewind Dale. You can talk your way out of, or run away from all but three fights in PS:T.

The combat is horrible, but its one of the best stories ever told in a game,

I was what I call 'kid-excited' for Mass Effect 1 and I feel the same for Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2. I am 31 and pretty jaded regarding games, since its my profession, but Bioware does get me looking forward to what they bring out. I think I, like a lot of people here, am on the same wavelength with what the team tries to do with RPGs so that adds to the excitement a lot. Like I already know I am going to enjoy it.

It's been a long time since i've been this excited for a game release, probably since the announcement of Age of Mythology personally.

Followed along the development of Oblivion as well I suppose, and was rather let down with it after the amazing time I had playing Morrowind and its expansions :(

I get excited whenever a Bioware game comes out, but this is the *longest* I've ever been excited, and 4+ years is a long time to wait.

I was pretty excited about Aion when it came out..only to realize that there is way too much grind and the hype was severely overdone. Sooo, when I heard about a possible return to my single player roots and a 'spiritual' and 'dark' successor to Baldur's Gate I was immediately had to get this game! I'm going the City Elf route and it's going to be fabulous!

Not since FFXI way back when have I let the hype-wagon roll over me so completely. I gave in a bit to the hype mob though hence why I am posting in this thread.

I think we end up whipping each other up into a frenzy.

Only Oblivion. The excitement I had for Oblivion was the only reason I thought the game was any good when I got it, but it eventually faded and I realized that the game had completely failed to meet my expectations. I'm hoping that doesn't happen with DA:O.

The only other games that I've been excited and hyped for was Persona 4, Disgaea 3, Mass Effect (1& and now 2), and Batman: Arkham Asylum (I'm a Batman fan, and loved the voice actors from Batman: The Animated Series).

Right now, I'm imagining that DA:O is a horrible, horrible game. Which is pretty hard. I'm really looking forward to working with the toolset. :) (First game I'm thinking about modding/ just trying to find people at school to practice with when it comes out. )
