Started my character in DA2, played through Varics' telling of the lothering event and got to the Character creator. The game would not let me select the "Name" option to change the default name.

Is this locked in for the game, or is there an issue with my copy?

Same here. In addition the Appearance options other than "Preset" are unselectable.

This is happening for me as well. It doesn't matter which appearance I choose, or whether I pick the default...

I moved the preset over to one of the other preset options and then it opened up the fully customizable skin/hair/eyes/etc etc. The appearence modifications worked fine, it was just that I cannot access the name changing section

Ah, I see now. I guess I just wanted to start from the default Hawke, which apparently you can't do.. :\\

The name still won't budge though, which is a bummer. According to the strategy guide if you have The Black Emporium you can change name/appearance, etc., at some point later in the game. I think I might just forge through with the default name (Marian, eww) and hope it gets patched by the time I reach whatever point I'm able to change it.

Thanks for the report. Can you provide the following info to help us narrow down the potential cause:

* What version of Xbox do you have? (New/Old/Slim)
* Do you have any DLC installed?
* What edition of the game are you playing? (Regular/Signature)

Just played the intro again but with warrior instead of mage.
It actually works properly for some reason. Perhaps it's mage specific?

tried again with mage and it works and i can change the name. What is going on?

No DLC were downloaded at that time (figured I'd wait til the servers calmed down before I attempted it)

My girlfriend was playing a Rogue and it wouldnt allow us to change the name. I'm about to start a Mage playthrough for myself so I'll update if it works

I'm having the same issue. (Female Hawke if that makes a difference.)

I tried to create a 2nd character and still couldn't change the name, but when I exited out to the Xbox dashboard and restarted the game it started working.

My Male Mage playthrough allowed me to change the name, the Female Rogue did not.

This is a known issue with the new Xbox Slims and we are looking into it.

Went to the Black Emporium and there was no option to change the name, fyi. Playing female rogue, btw.

I'm playing a a male warrior and I could name my Hawke. However, I can't change the mouth, chin, or ears if I have a beard. Is this a bug? If it's not a bug, it's a serious design flaw.

System: Xbox 360 slim (Halo: Reach edition)
Edition: Signiture Edition (installed to 250GB HDD)
DLC: All (installed)
