Right after installing and asking the game to run after running the configuration, I recieve this error.

The program or feature "\\??\\C:\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity (it's spelling, not mine lol) with 64-bit versions of Windows. please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit windows compatible version is availible.

Now when I try to press play, nothing happens. It asked for permession to launch something right as I told it to play, and my antivirus seemed to freak out then it gave me that error above. I have a retail copy from gamestop, the signature edition.

I'm on Vista 64 bit, going to try to reinstall again to check to see what pops up and write it down, as well as having my antivirus off.

POSSIBLE FIX

I've FINALLY solved my problem. The
reason why Windows 7 was saying that it was incompatible with the dragon
age2.exe file was, I think, because of my AVG blocking the dragon age2
activation and listing it as a Vundo virus.

Now, what I did was I
went to AVG settings, went to the "exceptions" tab under Resident
Shield then added this line to the "add path" tab:
C:UsersUsernameAppDataLocalTempmtka_tmp

That should unblock the activation application. After that I just authenticated and activated my copy of DA2.

Hope this helps!

P.S. Dunno if this helped too, but I downloaded and installed the Nvidia beta drivers too.

Also, uninstall and reinstall the game, people have trouble getting the authentication application to run unless it's a fresh install.

I turned my AVG off and ran as exception, nothing. /Rage. It's been 12 hours. Patience is now allowed to expire right? lol. Cmon Bioware your my fav damn company in gaming, but not even a response telling us were boned? Give us something guys. Still no solution, dead silence after selecting >play<

Please remember that these are the self-help forums, this isn't official BioWare support!

We check the forums, but it isn't an official line of communication for resolving technical difficulties.  If you are still having problems and cannot find a resolution on your own or with peer assistance we have official technical support lines for you to try.

I'll link to our stickied topic on the subject:

On a separate note, kudos to you guys for figuring out the antivirus false positive!  That's exactly what these forums are for, rock on!

@Hamilton. Just frustrated apologies. But still waiting since last night for official email response as well. And Diaratsio, if your having the problem that Diebenny and I are having, nothing will work for you except the launcher. I tried launching the activation by itself, thinking maybe something is in the way of DA2 authenticating with the release date or something. That anti piracy stuff. Nothing that won't launch either. I will update here whenever I get a response from the "official" forums. I emailed them, nothing yet but will let you guys know.

Trust me, no apologies needed, I honestly just hope your issues get figured out soon and I hope you're able to get playing right away!  I know you want to play and I would probably be frustrated in your shoes.  I just wanted to make sure you got your help ticket in. :)

How do you submit a question to the bioware support? I'm logged in and i see "my questions" but i don't see where to make one.

Under "Support Links" there is a section "Contact Us" which you can go to.

http://support.ea.com/app/ask

Keep an eye on this topic, but go ahead and submit an official request there as well.

Glad to hear of some success. I've added WowWilly's fix to the official sticky thread - http://social.biowar...0/index/6442590

I'm going to lock this thread now. Please continue the discussion (and share any further fixes) with the users in the official thread. Thanks!
