Just tried a gamut of fixes, but couldn't get anything to work (clean boot, turning off user account control, tried running compatibility mode...) and no joy.

Not sure what to do at this point, spent the last few hours with EA tech support and they did their best but have no conclusion.

Same problem here, but I'm running WinXP.
There seems to be a common theme of people having problems with their Sig editions...

(POSSIBLE SOLUTION)

I've FINALLY solved my problem. The reason why Windows 7 was saying that it was incompatible with the dragon age2.exe file was, I think, because of my AVG blocking the dragon age2 activation and listing it as a Vundo virus.

Now, what I did was I went to AVG settings, went to the "exceptions" tab under Resident Shield then added this line to the "add path" tab: C:\\Users\\Username\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\mtka_tmp

That should unblock the activation application. After that I just authenticated and activated my copy of DA2.

Hope this helps!

P.S. Dunno if this helped too, but I downloaded and installed the Nvidia beta drivers too.

So this fixes the
"the program or feature "\\??\\C:\\Dragon Age 2\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibity (it's spelling, not mine lol) with 64-bit versions of Windows. please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit windows compatible version is availible."

I'm going to give it a shot, will update this post if that clears it for me.

Installed it on my bro's comp with Windows 7 64bit and his ran, since it did a release date check, where it won't on mine because of AVG screaming at me. Hoping this is my fix.

First Edit* Just checked my Resident Shield in AVG and it says it caught a Vundo Virus from the DA2exe, I think I'm about to give you a huge hug Wowwilly

It's not a virus, it's AVG thinking it's a virus

Thank you wowwilly629, i also added the above exception to AVG and then ran the authentication application manually, if you are using AVG if you go into the resident shield history you can find the path needed to add to the exceptions and manually run the authentication application.

Thanks again! Time to play!

Wowwilly is my FREAKING hero!

His solution worked, if it will not try doing the exception then manually doing the activation app after.

Nah man. I don't have AVG, and i've allowed everything through my antivirus and firewall, updated graphics drivers, tried compatibility mode, and everytime i hit play in the launcher or try and run DragonAge2.exe it does absolutely nothing. Just sits there.

Please remember that these are the self-help forums, this isn't official BioWare support!

We check the forums, but it isn't an official line of communication for resolving technical difficulties.  If you are still having problems and cannot find a resolution on your own or with peer assistance we have official technical support lines for you to try.

I'll link to our stickied topic on the subject:
http://social.biowar...0/index/6391553

On a separate note, kudos to you guys for figuring out the antivirus false positive!  That's exactly what these forums are for, rock on!

Go to your Dragon Age II directory, go to Bin_Ship then into the Core folder, it should be in there.

@Hamilton. Just frustrated apologies. But still waiting since last night for official email response as well. And Diaratsio, if your having the problem that Diebenny and I are having, nothing will work for you except the launcher. I tried launching the activation by itself, thinking maybe something is in the way of DA2 authenticating with the release date or something. That anti piracy stuff. Nothing that won't launch either. I will update here whenever I get a response from the "official" forums. I emailed them, nothing yet but will let you guys know.

If you're using AVG and exception path doesn't work, I guess you can try disabling resident scanning altogether. It's riskier, but it worked for me. Also, I downloaded beta drivers as others have suggested.
Make sure you reinstall DA2 after you take care of the AVG bullsh**. Once I reinstalled, the validation app mentioned above was able to run.

Trust me, no apologies needed, I honestly just hope your issues get figured out soon and I hope you're able to get playing right away!  I know you want to play and I would probably be frustrated in your shoes.  I just wanted to make sure you got your help ticket in. :)

Under "Support Links" there is a section "Contact Us" which you can go to.

http://support.ea.com/app/ask

Keep an eye on this topic, but go ahead and submit an official request there as well.
