Beta drivers did help to utilize the 2nd GPU but the performance is still very poor.
Getting about 20-25 fps with a Gtx480 sli is ridiculous.

I am getting roughly the same FPS with SLI'd 480's.  25-32fps fo rme.

I wish developers would spend more time making sure the game is optimized properly.

How could they have shipped this game knowing the current drivers aren't optimized? its terrible. My macbook pro with a 9600GT is running more smooth than my GTX 460 SLi

Just a quick update. I was just searching on the web, and found this - I've tried it, but didn't make much difference under DX11 / Hi-Res Textures for me, but OP says it works, so hopefully this helps somebody.

Just tried this tweak using Nvidia Inspector, didn't help at all. Here's my updated findings. I'm using Nvidia ForceWare 267.46 beta drivers (it's same as 267.31) and DA2 patch 1.01.

MSI Afterburner GPU utilization from 3 video setting modes:

Red shade = "Very High" settings; 50-70% GPU utilization; micro-stuttering.
Blue shade = "High" settings; 60-75% GPU utilization; less micro-stuttering.
Purple shade = "Medium" settings; 70-80% GPU utilization; no micro-stuttering.

Call me crazy, shouldn't more intensive graphics utilize more GPU, not the other way?

Here are the Nvidia Inspector profile settings:
http://i.imgur.com/PeZ48.gif

I play at 2560x1600 resolution, however resolution does nothing about GPU utilization or stuttering. I've played at 1280x800 and I still get crappy FPS and stuttering on "Very High" in-game settings.

Here's my system specs again:

2600K @ 4.7Ghz
Tri-SLI GTX 580
4GB DDR3 (memory isn't an issue)
120GB Intel SSD

BioWare mentioned that "Very High" DX11 is more intensive than most are giving credit, and for some of the posters in the sticky with last generation video cards I could agree they're maybe overzealous. My system however isn't. If I can score P16574 on 3DMark11, play Just Cause 2 at 60+ FPS on max, or Metro 2033 at 40+ FPS on max.. you get my point. Dragon Age 2 looks good, but it's not that hardcore BioWare.

Damn, I have SLI 580's, still no news? No drivers? =-(. I pray I never have to deal with this again. So disappointing.

Download these:

(64 bit Windows) www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-267.59-whql-driver.html

or these

(32 bit Windows) www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-32bit-267.59-whql-driver.html

Run the driver installer-- It's going to extract itself to C:\\nvidia\\DisplayDriver\\267.59 then tell you don't have the correct hardware for this install.

You need to modify the nvdisp.inf file located in C:\\nvidia\\DisplayDriver\\267.59\\Vista 64-bit\\English\\Display.Driver so you can install these 267.59 drivers on all geforce cards rather than just the Geforce 450Ti & 550Ti they were released for. Here is an already modified nvdisp.inf file (zipped up) you can use for the 64-bit drivers: social.bioware.com/project/4362/#files. Download it, unzip it and drop it into the folder listed above overwriting the original nvdisp.inf. You can then install this driver.

These 257.59 have been providing nvidia card owners with a significant performance boost. Updated benchmarks here: www.techspot.com/review/374-dragon-age-2-performance-test/page4.html

Cheers

Running two 460's in SLI with my C2Q @ 3.2, 8GB DDR2, Win7 64-bit.

1920x1200, 4xAA, 16xAF, High res textures, Very High detail, turned off SSAO, diffusion and blur (they don't look all that great anyway) and I'm pegging my Vsync 99% of the time (60fps).

The only time it dips into the mid 50's is in Kirkwall like in the marketplace.

I highly recommend the 267.59 drivers, MAKE SURE you select the "Custom" installation option and select "perform clean install". This'll strip out any old settings that may be messing up SLI in your dragonage2.exe profile.  I'm just using the default Nvidia recommended SLI mode for the game in my profile.

So to sum up, SLI is working fine for DA2.

New BETA Driver v270.51 release fixes the SLI issue.  I can now run DA2 in DX11 @ 1920x1200, 8XAA, Graphics set to Very High.  Running two EVGA GTX580 Hydro Coppers in SLI.  Have been playing for the last hour and everything seems to be workikng perfectly, never dropped below 60fps.

Just install like any normal driver update, no need for any custom installation opitons.
