Seriously?! They released the game even though they knew there was an import bug? At least with Witch Hunt it was a surprise, which they really should have caught anyway... but this is just...irritating. The save import idea is fascinating and fun but so far has not lived up to the hype. At the very least I think it should work correctly.
Ima MAD PANDA! ger
I don't think they even bother testing anymore.

That is not the issue, at all.Aroya wrote...
I just know when your importing you can click on a button called plot summary. It was written in there. If you clicked on the save patch 1.1 makes you should be good.
The saves initially seem to import just fine and dandy, the summaries stating things exactly as they should be at first. As you start out, all flags seem to be properly triggered, and when you run into people who speak of the events in origins, they relay them properly. The issue and problem is that as you go on and get deeper into the game, they start to scew and relay the events wrongly, and began to contradict themsevles and recount the wrong histories and backgrounds, and also begin to ignore choices Hawk has made previously. The options do not seem to be sticking as the game progresses.
As I said earlier, my husband had this problem, but things seem to be working better now that he has began a new playthrough. He has not done anything any different than he did last time, and imported the proper save. He is now 12 hours into his playthrough, and I am now 10 into mine, and we have not yet ran into it again, but we are quite weary that it may pop up again.

I'm not terribly far into DA2, just met Varric, and everything seems to be well and fine. After meeting a character from DA:O who talked about my female city elf grey warden I'm guessing everything is still on track, but that fear is still gnawing at me that I might suddenly run into people that say that the warden was a dwarf who died killing the archdemon or something weird like that.

Don't be snide. Just because he was either not authorized to say "Oh yeah, we're working on it, be patient" or because he didn't give your a working import, a free puppy and an icecream cone is no reason. If you all will recalle, Dragon Age Origins had a very bumpy beginning too, and is now considered a classic, give Hawke a chance.RVonE wrote...
So we had someone from BioWare post in this thread and somehow this post still fails to acknowledge the actual problem? Wow.

DAO being a classic has nothing to do with bug fixes--there are plenty of them still in the current version of the game.Arian Dynas wrote...

It just completely baffles me that no one from BioWare is responding in a meaningful way regarding the issue(s). It's not like this thread is only two pages in size, anyway.

I'm in about 8-9 hours gameplay with an imported Origins+DLCs save and so far had no problems at all. Major game events from Origins relating to Alistair and Shale turned out correct in Dragon Age II. So far, I don't see what all the fuss is about.
Want a cookie? We are all so very glad it seems to be working for you, I guess the people its not working for are just SOL huh, because hell it works for you.

Right, because jumping all over some random lucky, if somewhat undiplomatic, forum poster who was simply relaying their own experience with the import thing is going to achieve anything at all useful.

Seriously, no response still? I'm sure if they had a fix incoming they would sweep in and reassure everyone; the only explanation for no response is to wait until the first month of sales (always highest). Before tarnishing the game's reputation outside these forums with an official bug recognition reply saying they have no idea when a fix is coming.
Well, I kinda doubt that's their strategy, unless they're completely unaware of the existence of, you know, the rest of the internet. It's not like these forums are classified or something, nor the only ones where DA2 and the problems therewith will be being discussed. If the issue is indeed a very prevalent one (and no, this thread isn't enough of a basis to judge from), it will show up on gaming news sites in fairly short order.

Well it served as a bump too. Besides he wasn't just relaying his own experience but rather completely dismissed the problem many others are having as unimportant simply because he hadn't experienced it. Really I am happy its working for him, but the attitude he and others have expressed that simply because they arent experiencing an issue means other gamers and Bioware shouldn't be concerned about it is just crap.

I don't appear to be having any import issues. All conversations so far and even a codex confims my choices from my imported Witch Hunt save. My Warden went through Awakening, Golems, and Witch Hunt with the 1.04 patch installed. All decisions showed correctly in the summary before import last night and I've seen no sign of anything that suggests the flags aren't correct. I should note that my DA:O game was not modded in any way as well. DA:O, Awakening, and DA2 are all PC retail versions and not Steam or a Digital Download of any kind. Not sure it matters but often the devil is in the details. I'm still running the DA2 without issue.
I hope this helps in narrowing down the problem others are having with their imported saves.
