Uh... the "epilogue" save is after the final boss - the autosave labeled "epilogue".

Technically, all DA:O saves will contain *all* your info safely... it is just DA2 that screws it up.

It should not affect the DA:O saves. so you can keep trying to import them until something works.

Or until Bioware gets their half-***** act together.

This is completely inexcusable, Bioware. I'm enraged.

For the people who have this problem: make thread in the various technical support parts of the forum. Maybe we can have some answer.

Yeah, but that save is made just after the final boss, before you make your choice of Boon, if you didn't make the Ultimate Sacrafice. I've been using the "Post Coronation" save because I can make my boon choice and "future plans." I know for a fact that the "future plans" had an impact on Awakening, even if it was just in how flags were set, because when my Warden committed to finding Morrigan, the Awakening slideshow reflected that he "went searching for the dark-haired witch" or whatever. If that same Warden committed to finding Morrigan, but made traveling plans with Zevran and Leliana and whatever during the mingling, the Awakening slideshow simply read "one day, the Warden-Commander disappeared."

.....so, at least some flags were set during the post-coronation, which the "epilogue" save mad eimmediately after the Archdemon would be unaware of. So... I dunno. Oddly enough, when Witch Hunt was first released, gamers who used their "post coronation" save were able to bypass the initial "Morrigan doesn't remember the Dark Ritual" glitch. Go figure!

.................but I could be completely wrong. It's just... all the evidence before tonight suggested that the "Post Coronation" save was the way to go. I'll be very disappointed if it doesn't work for DA2.

There is no difference.

The choices made in a "coronation" save are not flagged.

All those results you saw were from the proper epilogue choices. They do not change. Your memory of different changes in epilogue vs coronation is wrong... there was never an intention to have a post-post epilogue save... otherwise, what is the point of calling it "epilogue" when in fact, the choices are yet to be made?

The "Witch Hunt" bug is different.

Oh - the "post coronation" choice you just described is, in fact, the *actual* Witch Hunt bug...

Nothing is made post epilogue. Look it up.

I ahve a doubt, if I import only a DAO and DAA file, the problem isn't there, irght?
edit: but my DAO file that i import in DAA was a file that I got after the "epilogue2.....I use that file to go to thecamp and take equipment, and then save and import this file....

Alright, my husband has a digital copy and has been fiddling with the game.

He did an import directly from DA:O, and it was the epilogue file that he has imported.

Here is the problem. It started out importing and carrying the choices over correctly, it shows them correctly initially in the summary. But as he plays, they are showing in the summary as resetting and changing and not sticking.

It is a really weird issue. It bothers him less than me, because he only played DA:O and none of the DLC other than Shale, and never played Awakenings, so hes fine starting over and choosing one of their pre-made histories. I am not so keen on that, I put a lot of work in my canon character and into the story I want to carry over, I don't want to choose a history of a character I have no connection to.

What problem? Arrghh... you really need to know what you are talking about.

This: the bug you thought was a "coronation" save, was the Witch Hunt bug - the one where different details are given in the Awakening epilogue.

This has been fixed, so that the flags (which were still there) are correctly recognised by Witch Hunt...

All saves (DA, DAA, and WH) still *do* have all the flags, and any will import to DA2 fine - then they will be screwed up by that game.

The incorrect epilogue in Awakening is the only remnant of the fixed Witch Hunt bug.

There is no more info forthcoming...

Yes...

This is the *NEW* bug introduced in DA2.

What a mess...

Sorry for being dense, but are people saying that importing anything other than the Autosaves in Origins, Awakenings and Witch Hunt (Golems doesn't have the equivalent as far as I know) screws the story up?

Sorry ofr not be clear. Iwas talking about the fact that for someone the imort doesn't work, DA2 said that DAO wasn't completed.

Well, not sure if its JUST autosaves, so far it seems any save imports and starts out fine, it just does not STAY that way.

No...

People are saying that *ALL* transfer data eventually corrupts into a garbled mess, choosing a new variation of your choices and altering DA2's story...

Nothing major, heck lets ship it!!

If it's corrected by simply restarting the game it's no big deal.

It doesn't seem to be permanently corrected by a restart on my husbands game.

It seems to fix it temporarily, before it eventually starts corrupting it again.

He has just kind of given up for now. I told him to put a post in tech forums, hopefully he listens to me. :P

After reading all this savegame stuff, I wonder: How can I identify my post-Witch Hunt save? I played Origins, very little Awakening and Witch Hunt. Now there are three directories for my character with three sets of savegames...

Wait..wait..wait..wait...wait.

..wait.

So this problem is a gradual changing of the 'canon' story from the carry over save. Changing the history as the game progresses..

Holy ****! *puts on tin foil hat* Varrics exaggeration really caused everything to go to ****! ;)

Seriously though..that's an epic bug...how the hell does it change pre-set choices mid game?

You should be able to remember which your saves are by the listed play time... match them to the saves in DA.

And.. yeah, this bug seems to be affecting all players - which means there is a *chance* of a patch.
