Ah, that makes me feel better in a way, means there's nothing I can do about it! But yeah, that's quite an impressive bug, you'd think it'd be harder to make a file corrupt like that than not.

Is the summary people are talking about something you see in DA2?

Okay I'm confused what is this summary? is it like ME2's choice thing at the beginning or is it like your codex that just says what happened? Because if it's like your codex it might just be glitched (codex in origins saying Isolde gave her life to save Connor even though they were both fine.) and the game actually does recognize your choices. There anyway to check that?

The imports seems to work fine but your choices are getting messed up while playing DA2.

during the import of a DA:O save you can click on a "plot summary" button and then said summary appears

So yeah I'd assume it was like this. Just wanted to be 100% sure it just wasn't some glitchy codex entry like in Origins that was just plain wrong.

You can watch this summary when the game is already playing somehow, then? Considering people say it all looks good upon initial importing, but then it all changes as they're playing.

Hmm that screenie made me realize I never did all the origins DLC with my first char (the one I want to import). Perhaps a replay of that, awakening, golems and witch hunt should be done! Still got to wait for my copy to arrive and unlock anyways and if these import problems persist I think I'll just get used to DA2 at nightmare before importing my save and going for the real playthrough.

To everyone (un)lucky enough to already have it unlocked, have fun beta testing!

imports are perfectly fine on PC. Nothing at all wrong with them.

That's not the issue

The issue is AFTER it has been imported, it gets corrupted while playing DA2

Wait a second, how do you check if it's broken after you started the game? Does it litereally corrupt your DA:O save? Should I make backup of my DA:O save now?

My import choices seem to be fine (so far), but my problem is, I don't know which import to go with! There are some fundamental choices I made early on that I can't change (killed Connor, whoopsie). But when it comes to choices made during Awakenings, I'm conflicted on which way to go. Do I play that Vigil's Keep was saved? Or Amaranthene? And should the Architect be alive? Will he become a foe or friend?

Will someone hurry up and play the whole damn thing? Oh, wait. *smirk*

Meh... any word from Bioware on this topic? The first time I'm glad that it gets released on the 10th in my country. Need a fix for that asap! =)

Probably not fixed due to time constraints... Meaning it was rushed out.

Nah.  Rush's got nothing to do with it.  DAO was in development for five years, and it had all sorts of plot flag errors when it shipped too.

FearTheLiving wrote...

Didn't DA2 go Gold like a month ago? Seems stupid to do that if they didn't even have their import function fixed.

Ship date was set.  If they hadn't fixed it before the masters had to go out, too bad: they were going out no matter what.  Pushing back a big release like this at the last minute is exceedingly rare.

Seriously though..that's an epic bug...how the hell does it change pre-set choices mid game?

Because those plot flags have to get read into memory at some point so the game can make use of them. Some function(s) in DA2 must be improperly writing new values to those locations, or maybe there's some sort of "wrong offset" bug where it decides Flag A is actually Flag B, etc. IOW, there are plenty of ways the game could be corrupting them, and once corrupted they'll get written back into the DA2 save. I have to admit, I find myself curious just how much the backstory can mutate and if it will just continue to do so throughout the playthrough, because you'll eventually get all sorts of new weirdness when the old plot flags change, which then causes new plot flags to be changed, but some new ones that had already been set by the pre-mutation values of the old flags will then interact with these other new flags, etc. I.e. a continual continuity clusterf*ck of craziness.

Bioware just better hope it doesn't infect the new romance flags. People will flip the hell out...HARD....if that happens.

Hawke: *waking up in bed, stretching* Good morning, my sweet pirate lass.
Anders: Good morning, my very confused... lover.
Hawke: THE HELL?!?! What happened?!
Anders: Don't you remember how we flirted for years and all culminated to a night of sweaty, sweaty passion?
*knocking on the door*
Hawke: Stay out, Bethany! I don't want you to see me like this.
Carver: Bethany? Mother just wants to know how Anders likes his eggs?
Hawke: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing with Codex entries was usually OK though, because those were just cosmetic.  Typically, the journal update looked at the wrong flag, or would test the right flag for the wrong value.  That sort of thing.  The flags themselves were properly set in the savegame (mostly, there were exceptions).

No. It's a 'grey' choice, neither is good or evil. The architect's plan is not evil, but some of his methods are, and the consequences might be too. Just imagine an army of intelligent Darkspawn, versus the Darkspawn we have to fight now.

Things appeared to be in order when I imported my final save from Witch Hunt into DA2. When does this corruption become evident, is there any way to check in game? Do people just start mentioning how The Warden was a dwarf and died killing the Archdemon even though my character was a human and survived killing the Archdemon?

This REALLY sounds like it could be a pain in the ass of a glitch.

It might well be enough to stop me buying a copy until everything is fixed tbh... Thats the way it's heading for me right now (maybe waiting for another goty edition if thats the case) if Bioware won't give us an update or any kind of information regarding this issue and auto attack being fixed/timelime or progress.

Someone should re-post this in the technical support forums... Bioware needs to see this.
