360 version seems to have no problems.
If this problem is not coming from the 360 version, that's GREAT news.
That would be a huge part of the population automatically reasonably safe.
HOWEVER

Release game with one of the main features bugged .... Why even include the save import and not just scrap it if it isn't going to work? To avoid fan fury I guess but I would much rather prefer a non existent save import than one that does not work as intended. I hope that by the 11th there is a patch for it so that when I get my copy I will be able to play it.

WTF. I haven't got the game yet but damn from what I see Bioware did not learn their lesson from Witch Hunt. They had 1 game, 1 expansion and 2 dlc packs to practice their save import feature and it still fails. I'm usually 100% Bioware supporter but this saddens me.

I know many people enjoy the little details, but this isn't an earth shattering bug that will greatly cripple the experience. From those who have already beaten the game, the changes you see from your imported saves are VERY MINOR and are nothing at all like the kind of changes an ME import to ME2 brought. You are very likely to get a near identical story if you picked whatever from the list of three most closely matched what you did since MUCH of what happened in Origins was retconned anyway.
Yes, it may be a bug, and it may annoy some, but it's definitely not what I would consider a priority compared to those who can't even get their game to register, let alone run. Not trying to sound dismissive to those who want a "perfect" game out of the box (who doesn't?), but seriously, there are greater issues that need addressed.

How do you know the changes are "very minor", have you played right through the game yet or been let in some big secret the rest of us missed. It totally cripples the experience for alot of us because we invested many, many more hours 30-60+ replaying DAO just so we could make use of the feature. If it is *somehow* as you claim it to be that it's even less impact in story in DA2 then regard to importing from ME1 to ME2 as example ME1 save the rachni queen>ME2 some npc gives you silly letter saying oh cheers for letting us live then I will be incredably shocked.

The problem is that the game even corrupts the flags of DA2, if the folks with the game are right. So you do something in act 1 and in act 2 somebody will say you didn't do it. That changes the whole game experience.

That was accidentally omitted from the discs during production, it should have been there.Tamahome560 wrote...
It doesn't change the fact that they released a game with broken import feature and had full knowledge of it. Why not cut it out completely like they did to console auto attack? They could have at least told people in advance that it is broken.

Well maybe I was one of the fortunate ones, but my imported save from Witch Hunt had all of my correct flags for DA:O and Awakening.
That's not the bug though.
Play for another 5 hours, and see if the data remains intact.
If it does, THEN you're one of the lucky ones.

Wish people would read the entire threads, I know its annoying but if did would know it's not a problem with the actual importing as that actually works... The problem is as you progress through the game itself it corrupts your savegame imported flags and from what I heard may also affect DA2 flags though that one is unconfirmed.

Wait, it alters the save game when you're already deep into the game? That's... messed up!dirftglass wrote...

I like how the BioWare staff is answering and locking threads left and right but somehow overlook a thread that already has 8 pages.

Yes, that is the understanding.
I've also heard some unconfirmed reports that it effects DA'2's OWN flags - meaning that it's most than just what you imported, it's everything you do in the entire game.
So, effectively, it's KILLS THE STORY AND CHOICE of the program.
And, according to poll, it may be affecting MORE THAN HALF of the people playing the game.

If you havent than quit complaining about it, the way i see it. Well unless you dont have DA2 and just giving your opinion. But if you have your DA2 registered and havent posted this issue in your respective DA2 technical support forum than please dont complain here.

The respective DA2 tech issues thread was being overrun by the issue, when at the same time alot of Russian players were having a specific technical complaint, so this thread was unlocked and this conversation was moved by a mod to this thread.

Complaining here is fine, don't like people complaining about it why read the thread to begin with as the title was self explanitory.
Well its more pointed at the people with their DA2 registered into the site mainly. You cant really expect anything to be done about it if your not posting this in the technical support forum either.

I read the thread, i am just not sure if people are mentioning this in the technical support threads either or what not. And if its a known issue why didnt they have a patch ready for it.
Like i said on page 3, if its as bad as you guys are saying for when i start my copy up later today after getting it at gamestop. I will just play Pokemon White. I hoping i miss this error like i missed the ME2 PS3 game freezing during autosave.

1. There are import problems I know for a fact because most of the boon flags don't get set properly if Alistair is king (the dalish boon flag is fine, however). This is a bug from Origins that was never fixed. So there will be inherit import problems if you selected the mage boon.
1.5. The most appropriate flag may not have been chosen in the import process. "romance active" instead of "in love" or "still in love" can lead to some misunderstandings when you hear about your warden, if you learn at all about their personal lives.
2. Flags for some reason are not getting set properly in earlier parts of DA2 OR in the later game, someone messed up when putting conditions for certain dialog triggers. This means either what you did is not set properly or you are actually just getting wrong dialog later in the game but what you did will still work out ok.
3. The summary from DAO gets corrupted. However, I haven't seen if THIS actually affects gameplay. Since it's fixed by a reset, my guess is it's mainly cosmetic.
