Why Bio? Why? Why do it when it's clearly unnecessary?

I'll give two clear examples here.

1) In DA2, the player can fight several abominations and shades at once - and defeat them wihout practicly loosin any health, without any difficulty. Why? In the Lore abominations are terrible. Dangerous enough to a singe one can take out an entire squad..or a village. Why trivialize them like this? Why pit a player agaisnt 4-5 abominations that are no more difficult to kil lthan a regular mercenry? Why not give hte player 1-2 stronger abominations to fight?
And then poeple wonder why other people think mages aren't dangerous and templars are incompetent...
It's becuase of c*** like this.

2) At one point in DA2, the player gets mind controled by a blood mage. It last for all of 2 seconds, after which the player get's the "heroic resolve - break free" option in the conversation. Really classy.
Way to show off the dangers and horror of mind control. Instead of the player being rescued by one of his companions or a NPC, to make him feel really helpless, to really drive home the danger - you wuss out.
What a perfect Missed Moment of Awesome.

There's more examples of course, but these two should suffice.
But the sad this is not that the events themselves bother me - is that they are so UNNECESSARY. They could have been so easily avoided.
