Not saying it isn't fun, just a little more "meh" than I was hoping.

I am enjoying the storyline twist so far. The Blood Mage pops out of nowhere, the shy nervous girl you would never suspect and she is doing flemath's bidding.
I do wish a few things. I wish the quests were a bit more orgainzed. When I say that I mean a steady flow to a certain goal. I'm still trying to get inside Kirtkwall and it just appears like Im doing side quests almost randomly. I hope that I can soon get inside the city.
The graphics are amazing. These are what games should be. This is a bad ass RPG. The questline may not be clear, though the graphics look amazing, flawless and something I have never seen they really took it up to the next level.

That's my only complaint so far, I hope that it's the last though. I miss some of the old elements, but I'm not gonna let that ruin this game.

Hooooooooo SNAP!!! The old lady outfoxed her daughter and The Warden! She may be evil, but that gal is like a chess master, always 2 steps ahead.

I am suprised to find that after playing around with the character creater, that I have decided to go with the default Lady Hawke. Bioware has created a default character that actually feels very right. Only thing I wish is that you could tamper with the hair and eye colors on the defaults.
And skin tone! Ive always wondered why does everyone in the Dragon Age world have to be so pastey white? Youd think that, given the time period, everyone would be outside more often and thus have a bit more skin pigment, but then again, maybe bioware did it to more reflect all of us gamers who never see the sun
Anyways, my thoughts on DA2..... LET ME OUT OF KIRKWALL!!! Im loving the game so far but please bioware, for the love of god, expand this world in some future dlc's, I cant take it anymore. Honestly Im in shock that bioware, creators of a 2 games that allow you to explore the effing Milky Way galaxy, would create such a small and repetative environment. WTF Bioware, we're fighting.

hes not talkin about romance, hes talkin about just talking to ppl and in this game, that is SERIOUSLY lacking. in the first one you could converse with each character between each mission. so far ive done half the story missions in the first act and ive only been able to converse with one person twice.Craig Graff wrote...
I think you need to actually visit the characters in their homes and do their quests if you want to have a chance to care about them. (I'm assuming you haven't done that, or much other side content since you are already more than a third of the way through the game.)

Two-handed warrior combat makes me feel like a juggernaut. Hella-quick, and when I hit people hard enough they stagger/go flying. Really captures my interest.

The quests in orgins seem so orgazined, you had to go to each town for a goal to gain their support and build an army slowly building up to the end. I'm running around doing different random quests, yes their are choices on what to say but the quests are so short, I don't really have time to build up suspense to a big choice, it's just kinda over quickly

I am sort of bothered however by the fact that I can't chat up my companions whenever I want, it's unfortunate that in my 12hrs of playing I only really got a few in depth conversations with each of them. But it actually only feels like a minor complaint because I'm still enjoying the experience of having them with me. I really like that they interact with one another not just in banter but visiting each other's houses. In particular the Merrill and Isabella friendship is really sweet and it's fun getting to drop in on those little scenes. Over all my little brain is overloaded with information and i'm coming down off the energy drink high so I should get few hours of sleep.

There are, however, some valid points that if possible, Mr. Graff could address?
1) LOVE the character class choice screen, very Diablo 2-esque.
- Question: Why is it on the character creation screen, one cannot change the default 'hawke' in reference to things like hair colour/style and eye colour?
2) In reference to party member interaction:
- Question: Why can we not 'talk' to them as we did in DAO? It was very cool to be able to address party members and get their input on the current situation, location, etc. It added a richer development and social interaction, making one actually feel as though the party members were individuals and not just backup hired hands with no personality.
3) I REALLY love how fast paced the fighting is in this new game. Some people complain about how fast the fighting is, but seriously... if one is in a fight, realtime, there is no preplanning. There is no well-thought strategy. There is only reactive fighting and muscle memory from ingrained training. I'm personally playing a mage [considering my warden was a blood magus/arcane warrior] since that is what I am most comfy with, and the way she was trained in bojutsu and the fire off those spells from that bo staff is amazing!
4) I have to say I am really disappointed with the way the Elven situation turned out. I saw on the forums what ended up 'coaxing' you all to redesign the Elven look, but I personally think they looked fine in DAO and would have been fine had they looked the same in DA2.
Overall so far I really like the product, but this is just my opening remarks.

Combat, just as good as I expected
I like how in the character creation, widening the chin doesn't make the female Hawke freakish, cheeks are very much improved from Origins and Mass Effect. Overall, pretty much the whole system is better, except tattoos are pretty bland and it is hard to see most the colors

This combined with the fact that the high res texture pack was finished too late to be put in the retail copy and other signs that show quantity over quality and I think it's safe to say that this game should have gotten way more development time. I don't mind the new combat system, I think I even prefer it actually and I admire BioWare trying to reinvent that part, but this game just feels like it has suffered from a shortage of development time, technically, gameplay-wise and story-wise. I hope BioWare and especially EA can see the mistakes they're making, but I doubt it, looking at all the 8 and 9 reviews floating around. I think it's a shame really, since I feel this game has wasted a great potential.

There are severe pc-performance problems which really seem to affect the nvidia users the most. Some benchmarks show that the new Ati 6990 card has more than double the fps than a 580gtx SLI configuration. Which is pretty sad really, games preferring certain video card brands aside, no game should give you such a difference between cards from the same end, not even unpatched.

While I can't comment on the PC issues (since I'm playing it on 360), I strongly disagree with you. I can tell that each quest has been highly polished in both terms of story and how they play out. I haven't had this much fun playing a game in a LONG time. Hope things turn around for you

I love the variety of mage weapons/equipment so glaringly absent in DAO, but the armor cannot be changed on companions, which I can't appreciate.
It's not bad overall, but I am not as attached to the characters or the storyline as I was with DAO and it's DLC (as well as the books by Gaider).

I am surprised at the freedom of action I am finding, having expected a story-on-rails I find the freedom to pursue my course remarkable. I have played probably 9 hours on various characters to get familiar with the controls and discover my optimum game, normal difficulty.
There was a bug before I reached my 'special delivery' chest and after picking up Aveline at the Viscount's fortress: she appeared to still have her original sword/Wesley shield equipped in inventory but in combat was fighting bare-fisted. This resolved once I gave her Fadeshear, but it was disconcerting for a few battles until I reached my special items chest.
All-in-all to this point I would rate the game easily at a 9 on a 1-10 scale.
...And not to be weird, but I think I could fall in love with Merrill were she real and a companion in life... and attracted to older gentlemen like me.

Why in God's name did you have to make Anders whiny. It is like Allister the Sequel. I had to reload my save before I complete the beginning of the Deep Roads so I can leave someone at home.
