Heya
Installed DA2 a while back, had a few crashes during loading screen etc. I persisted.
Ran it without launcher, tweaked graphics etc. It's crashing during cutscenes.
eg - crashes during the cutscene where we travel to Kirkwall.
My computer specs are
1 GB Nvidia Geforce
4 gb ram
2.26 Ghz core 2 duo.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Game Crashing, help!

A few questions to help narrow this down for you:
Do you have updated nvidia drivers?
What operating system are you using?
Does it always crash at the same cutscene or is it random somewhere in the beginning of the game?

Thanks for the reply.
- Not sure when i updated last, but the DA2 demo ran perfectly.
- OS Windows 7 x64
- Crashed a few times randomly, but crashing at the same cutscene now.
Never crashed during gameplay. Crashed the first time in the main menu (connecting to server) then the first cutscene. It was fine after that but started crashing in the 2nd cutscene (travelling to kirkwall) crashes at one point in the cutscene (ship sailing in the seas, waves etc)
Thanks, would love to play without interruptions

Having the same issue as Vaelfor. Random crashing during cutscenes. The game will play until a cutscene is about to be triggered, then crash. It happens randomly for the first few cutscenes I've come across in the game. Seems to be a 50/50 chance. Was able to play through the demo without issue using the same settings.
AMD Phenom X4, 3.4ghz
4 GB RAM
Radeon 5870 1GB, latest drivers
Windows 7 Pro x64
Playing at 1920x1080 using DX11, Very High Detail, Vsync on, AA & AF off. Hi-Res Texture pack not installed.
Steam version of DA2
Any insight would be much appreciated. Aside from this issue, the game runs perfectly.

So, i skipped the second cutscene, since ive seen it in the demo. Game continued perfectly.
Then, sigh, reached the next cutscene (cant skip this, story) crashed again. This is clearly a problem.
Very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated. (popped the same question to customer service, waiting for response)

Hmm glad to know I'm not alone, lol. But not glad to know that there's no solution yet.
I don't like skipping cutscenes the first time i play, either. going to wait for a solution.

Mine keeps crashing at the first cutscene as soon as the torch comes into view.
:EDIT:
After I updated to the new graphics drivers and changed the game settings to dx9 the game would finally run.

Have gotten a couple intermittent crashes so far.
First crash took place right as the ogre in the opening scene is killed (right when the cutscene is about to pop up).
The second time it crashed was shortly after Aveline was acquired, when I tried to loot a corpse.
I've got an AMD Phenom II 965 X4 Black with 4 gb of ram and an XFX Radeon 5850.
Everything set to high, 1080p, not in full screen mode, 4x aa, high res textures disabled.

Same issue here and almost exactly the same specs as xexys. Plays beautifully, but cutscenes are kiss of death. First crash was during the first cutscene with the hero, next run, once we met up with the husband and wife team.

You would think that Bioware would not only have a fix but also give everyone a really special item by way of an apology for an issue of this magnitude for a game so highly anticipated. It's almost as bad as The Witcher 1!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Quit crashing I kill the Ogre and it kills the game every time.....SMDH

Just noticed that the 'Fault Module Name' and Fault Module information varies in a few of the error messages. Is the 'fault module' a file withing DA2 that is corrupted or failing, or is it an outside program that's causing a conflict?

From what I could gather my issue came from the Very High setting. I changed it to (DX11) High, disabled shadows in the ini, enabled triple buffering and the hi-res textures. Been playing non-stop for past 3 hours without a single crash or stutter.
To test further I re-enabled Very High setting and the very first cutscene I came to froze and crashed me again.
Whatever DX11 effects Very High enables seems to completely destroy my game's stability.

I have been unable to make a character in the game because when I select start new game the game crashes during the loading phase...
Update- Switched to DirectX 9 and it appears to have let me start the game now. We will see how long this lasts though.
