Alot of you are getting errors for your video drivers. I suggest: Perform a clean install of your video drivers.

When installing from nvidia the option as at the bottom to perform a clean install.

I bought the game today, but I kept getting graphical errors and crashing. I am running it on a brand new Dell xps i7 with NVidia (all updated drivers). I tried uninstalling and re-installing, but now my installation keeps failing.

Well, I finally figured out how to re-install the game. I couldn't delete the original DA2 folder, so I renamed it. I've downloaded the patch and have my fingers crossed that this will fix my graphics problems.

1) I think the 270.61 driver doesn't do well with DA2, see sticky at top of forum.
2) Make sure the game is updated to 1.03.
3) Does the config utility run ok, and does anything look off in the information given?

Actually, if the Geforce is a GT200 or a GTX400, the 270.21 was just fine, as is the 180-something.  It's the 275 that's so bad for those.

However, for the Geforce 8n00 / 9n00 (essentially all but two being the same), very few "recent" drivers can be used with reliable results.  The really old drivers work much better,  except when it's Windows 7, and the oldest drivers is just barely "old enough", whatever it is.  nVIDIA hasn't been able to maintain across-the generation compatibility since releasing the GT200s, and when you do find a given recent driver may work for some brand new game when using a 9n00 card, chances seem quite poor that the same driver is usable for a game older than six months or so, literally.

The patch is needed, certainly, and a close examination of the listing in the configuration page is always useful.

1) I have reinstalled the 280 driver, (latest driver for nvidia) and rebooted the system, didn´t work
2) The latest patch is installed, i have all DLC:s installed, didn't work
3) Yes, the config tool can't find anyting wrong.

The funny part is that the DEMO is working fine, so does "Deus Ex - Human Revolution" and that is also a "high-end game"...

Is there any other info you need to sort this thing out??

1) make sure you are using medium graphics and directX 9 and not trying to use directX11.
2) Roll back your drivers to one of the earliest that will work with your operating system. This is because your graphics card is OLD and Nvidea has lost the knack of making good drivers for all cards instead of only the new stuff.
3)I would also suggest your roll back your display to something less than 1600 more along the lines of 1200-1400.

Sorry to bring this back - but now with mark of the assasin I think this same problem is re-emerging.

running crossfire 5870's
All drivers updated, all game file updates, and even the high def file.

Played through this game twice with no problems. Yeah, some of the cutscenes were a bit choppy, but it was only once in a while.

Games is crashing now at first cut scene in mark of the assasin.
Locks my system up bad enough to force me to hard reboot my system.
-Contacted EA support on this matter and I've also posted on AMD forums for some answers.  -nothing so far from AMD and EA...well yeah...EA, enough said.

system logs show
DragonAge2.exe
1.3.6124.0
4dca6cba
ntdll.dll
6.1.7601.17514
4ce7ba58
c0000005
00038da9
894
01cc89d4b5d3a171
D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age™ II\\bin_ship\\DragonAge2.exe
C:\\Windows\\SysWOW64\\ntdll.dll

Anywho, it states a ntdll.dll issue, but I also saw windows pop up a gaphics driver stopped functioning message. As AMD worked very closely with bioware on this mark of the assassin DLC, I would assume that these issues are relating to both coding and graphical driver problems. I have yet to figure out what is the cause...all I can say is I AM NOT RUNNING IN DX9.

I'm getting the same problem today; recently upgraded from a 3870 to a 6870 (both radeons of course) and now I can't get past the first cutscene, with the same error c0000005 in ntdll.

Edit: Just to clarify it worked perfectly on the 3870 and i'm using the latest drivers.

Have you tried rolling back to one of the last few drivers?

Not yet as I can't play Rage without it.

That said, should I need to ? after all the other people having this issue have had it over the last year - I'm certainly not prepared to put a year old GFX driver on an ATI card!

I'm gonna guess when you upgraded from that old 3870 to a 6870 the difference was you could turn up the juice to DX11 and when that happened you got the error. Does it happen in DX9 mode too? There seems to have been no end of problems with DX11 mode which gets sorted out with patches and driver updates and then new DLC comes out and we are back to square one.

The error itself you are getting is a faulting module which is often caused by conflicts with certain background programs or plug ins. But to know if anything is flagged i'd need to know what you are running on your computer such as antivirus programs and whatever else runs while you are playing games.

Before anything else did you try running as admin? (right click on program then "run as administrator") Sometimes that seems to be the magic touch with this particular error that can save you a lot of time.

There are some things you can try like some slightly older graphics drivers to see if it's only effecting one set of drivers and then there is the uninstall and clean install of everything. basically start from the bottom, install game, all DLC then the patch you might untangle a few files and get them to work like they should.

I had the same issues with my 5870 in DX11 mode with the 11.9 and 11.10 drivers (11.8 worked fine). The 11.11 Catalyst seemed to fix the issue, no it does not crash anymore.
