i did direct download from EA, the download manager works fine, the launcher for DA pops up, i can configure everything, but when i hit play nothing happens. a flash of DOS and then nothing. not sure what the problem is, default dx9. updating drivers now to see if it's a fix.

i dont get why the main game is such a pain to get started, yet the demo worked absolutely fine.

The configuration crashes, so I can't try a different dx mode.  I've allowed access past the firewall.  Directly running the exe's even in admin mode doesn't help.  Tried reinstalling too.  Updated drivers, Win 7/64. 

I also saw that if I ran the game exe it tried to get a one time validation, but said I didn't have enough rights on the machine. I am an admin user. After that first thing, it tries to start the configuration and crashes.

It looks like it didn't create shortcuts on my desktop or start menu either.

I put in a support ticket, so hopefully they can fix this.

driver update didn't help, beta driver didn't help. submitted a help request to EA, now all i can do is wait. what a waste, i spent 6 hours sitting in public wifi to download a day early, so i could play the day of with no problem.

Everytime I try to start from the launcher my AVG detects a virus, and then the DOS screen blinks on and off, and then nothing. Trying the driver update, and my game is already set to DirectX9. :/

I'm getting an error when I launch the game through Steam. Microsoft Visual C++ error, R6030 CTR not initialized. I've updated drivers, windows service packs, most recent Direct X and tried going back to DX9, as well as a fresh install of Microsoft C++ Visual. But the game just won't get passed that error. I've tried using standard drivers and beta drivers for my video card as well. Can anyone help me out? I've been working on this since 3am Tuesday and I can't find any helpful suggestions.

Double click on the DA2 desktop shortcut. When the menu opens the top left option is configuration, click that. Go to the Video option and you will see a drop down menu with your choice of rendering software.

I've had this problem with other games. All i had to do was update my audio devices. The game cannot launch due to the sound effects the opening visual creates, thus crashing the game.

Is anyone aware if Bioware has posted and official response to this issue yet? I have tried all work arounds I have been able to find to no avail and am becoming extremely frustrated.

Other than don't use DX11, update your drivers... No. I'm pretty sure the QA & Tech Support teams are tearing their hair out & banging their heads on their desks for not catching this before release.

I'm pissed. I pre-ordered over 3 months in advance for this and I can't even get past the PC DA2 launcher. Played through the demo fine & now I can't play the full product...

I posted a support ticket at around noon Pacific & haven't gotten a response...  I've read every forum thread, tried every little thing posted & jack + squat.

Driver updates, changing from DX11 to 9, firewall exceptions, running as admin, talked nice to my computer... Read every forum thread. I. Just. Want. To. Play.

I find all of this hauntingly familiar from trying to get FF14 to play. Sometimes I think this is all some kind of sick psychological experiment gone horribly awry. I'm tempted to see if Gamestop will give me my money back and I'll just wait for the Game of the Year Edition to come out on steam.

/shrug game launch screw ups happen. hopefully it won't take more than 24 hours to resolve. its just the first time one has happened to me in such a clusterfark of a way. im tired. im t-ed & my post is getting buried, i have no response on the ticket i've posted. this wouldn't annoy me so much if i had a human being from tech support even talk to me once (on forums, email, etc) even if they couldn't solve my problem. as of right now i feel like i don't even exist to them.

if they can't solve the problems now at the rate they are coming in.... well they're going to rue the day they decided to try & develop an MMO RPG.

Ah yikes, I had forgotten about the Old republic. I think I'll save myself the heartbreak and wait a month or two for to avoid this reoccurring nightmare.

^probably a good idea. you'll miss out on pre-ordering & launch day bonuses... but you'll likely avoid the headache of MMO launch day goodness.

I seriously hope Bioware plans on hiring an ungodly amount of Cust. Serv. minions & has a loooooooot of servers ready for TOR launch day. Cuz launching a single player RPG is nothing like the chaotic hell unleashed by even a small MMO launch.

Well, it has officially been 24 hours of possessing a game that I want but cannot play. I think I'm going to play some minecraft for catharsis. Good luck to everyone, I'll be looking back here tomorrow.

Experiencing problems with crashes DragonAge2config.exe on start. It just hangs and no start of the game.
Have Win7x64 with all latest drivers and Dx11.
Possible to start only through manually clicking DragonAge2.exe

I can post here error report but it's on russian

Same problem here. Epic FAIL, Bioware. Fortunately I have Rift keeping my Game Jones in check while I patiently (albeit, not a little disappointedly) wait for the root cause analysis and fix.
