I was wondering why I couldn't hear anything in Dragon Age 2. My audio out is set to the Digital Optical Audio/TOSLINK on my 2009 MacPro 4,1 to my DTT3500 surround sound setup. The visuals aren't a problem (I've a Radeon 5870) but, as of this writing I haven't played one bit.

For SOME reason Dragon Age 2 changes the settings in Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilies/)- not the output, but the format. I have it set to 44.1kHz 2-Channel 16-bit, which works- I HEAR Dragon Age 2 in the background right now as I write this and after I changed it back to my settings, but upon EVERY launch so far, Dragon Age 2 changes my settings to 48kHz which does NOT work! :pinched:

We looked into this as part of the upcoming patch but it unfortunately appears to be an Apple issue, likely due to some re-architecture of CoreAudio done for Snow Leopard. As you've already found with Prince of Persia, this resetting of the audio isn't specific to Dragon Age.

On the bright side, the Transgaming team has filed a bug with Apple so hopefully it will be fixed in an upcoming Mac OS X release.
