After the second story cinimatic (jounry to kirkwall by ship) i get stuck in a never ending loading screen. I originally thought it due to long ass loading time but its been 30 minutes!

please love of the maker help....

Gamestop here as well. Also seeing the logo and arrows on the right side of the screen during cutscenes and gameplay. Very odd. I am remembering the memory leak issue with DA: Origins and the loading screens there. Wonder if it's something of the same issue

Digital downloads i assume... Though i guess that doesnt tell us much alot of other digital downloads went fine.
im redownloading it again via EA downloader watching it carefully this time... and having nothing else running.

No, got mine the normal (w/ disc) way. Had it at midnight, then forced to wait until 3 thanks to that activation screen saying I couldn't use the program until then. Played thru the demo, er, I mean prologue, and ran into this problem. Rather disappointed w/ Bioware and EA right now. Sleeping on it.

I also got mine thru disc. Well i updated my drivers and no change to the never ending loading screen. I give up for the night. Kinda a waste of a night to see less of the game then I did in the demo.

Has anyone tried to save yet? The option to do so is greyed out in the menu. It's been a night full of fail so far.

temporary solution is here

go to XXX:\\Documents and Settings\\XXX\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2\\Settings
and edit value in DragonAge.ini from AutoSave=1 to AutoSave=0

but this solution doesn't solve load/save problem

OK, tried a fresh install and updated DirectX with what came with the disc (figured it couldn't hurt. Updated for the demo off of MS's site, but thought maybe there had been a change somewhere along the line. Stranger things have happened.) No dice, still stuck there. And has anyone else noticed "invisible darkspawn"? I say this because in the latest attempt through the prologue, my party would fight DS on their own, but the spawn would not appear on the screen for a good ten seconds after combat was initiated. Looked like my party was fighting thin air.

i've come to expect at least one game-breaking bug with each new bio-ware release. it'll be solved by the first patch most likely. in the meantime: back to origins to wrap up a few unfinished playthroughs.

here's to hoping they fix it soon!

come to think of it, i remember a similar bug when mass effect 2 came out, had to do with the fact i don't have a multicore processor. the game froze due to the fact it was loading while trying to play the loading screen cinematic (and looking at the loading screen in DA2, it IS a cinematic too.)

i assumed my computer could handle DA2 because it played the demo fine. ah well.... the first three letters of assume spell....

if what i mentioned above is the problem, its not a difficult workaround for bioware... here's to hoping they address the issue (if said issue is the actual issue)

fired off a message about this to Bioware support, I'll relay anything I hear. Tired of dealing with this right now. Maybe I'll do some old-school, pre-EA and play KOTOR for a while.
