I had this same problem with the demo when I downloaded it from Steam (though not from the version I downloaded straight from bioware's website). When I go to start the game and hit "play" on the launcher a popup appears saying the game is preparing to launch then the Launcher appears on my screen again. I hit "play" once more and it does the same thing, putting me on this Launcher loop. I have Vista 64bit, updated DirectX11 drivers, and updated ATI Drivers (I ran Driver Detective just to be sure) The demo from bioware's website worked perfectly so I'm not understanding why the Steam version wouldn't.
Any ideas would be awesome.

right now what im doing is dling it from EADM after i uninstalled it from steam so i can do the bin_ship work around again on the exe to skip the launcher, im hoping it works like with the demo, you just have to register your key on EADM in the options drop down that looks like a gear on the top right

thanks. i haven't got it to work yet. i've been searching about this problem like crazy and have found several places where people complain about the same thing from steam (though for different games such as fallout and amnesia) and they've all got it to work but they all did different things and none of them worked for me. I tried turning off UAC and everything so I'm at my wits end now.

Same problem with me and I was able to play since launch except for today for some reason.

I'm having the same issue, contacting EA support now. It worked fine yesterday and today I get a looping launcher...
[EDIT]
FOUND A SOLUTION! (Which works for me at least)
1. Exit Steam
2. Go to your Steam folder and right-click on 'steam.exe'
3. Check the box for 'Run as Administrator'
4. Restart Steam and ignore the warning (press 'Cancel')
5. Start Dragon Age 2

My solution was similar except my dragon age launcher was set to run as admin. Unchecking 'Run as Administrator' did the trick.

Sorry. Been out of town so I haven't been able to reply until now. Runing steam.exe as admin didn't even get me to the launcher loop. An error saying dragon age 2 had stopped working popped up for just a second and then it took me back to the desktop. However, I installed the game through EA's Download Manager and it worked perfectly. Haven't had any problems. Thank you so much for all the help. It was greatly appreciated!
