 Using the -enabledeveloperconsole doesn't work.

I guess da2's console is locked up. :X

Looks like bioware learned from their mistakes with the demo

Console works for me, are you making a shortcut for the .exe in bin_ship or whatever or the launcher? If you do it the same way as in the demo, it works, still cant see what your typing though.

 I got it to work on the Steam version.  But I had to not change the key binding, leaving it as OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_Grave.  Setting it to Button_Tilde did NOT work.  Alas you cannot see the console window.  I have not tried inserting the console visibility fix for DAO to see if it works here.
Since I use Steam I just edited the file itself as explained in the wiki:
Another option is to edit the file …DragonAge2Launcher.xml. This will allow you to run the game from its normal shortcut but requires you to edit a game file which should be done carefully and not before taking a backup of the file.  Do a search in the file (control+F usually) on the string "FirstRun".  The next line should have true action="execute" file="${BINARIES_DIR}\\DragonAge2.exe" path="${BINARIES_DIR}" autoquit="true"

At the end (after autoquit="true" and BEFORE the /> ) add the attribute arguments="-enabledeveloperconsole"

Then save the file and run your game.  You won't be able to see the console but you can use the console commands like "runscript addxp #" where # is any number and it will work.

Steam uses the Launcher. Running the launcher with -enabledeveloperconsole doesn't do anything.

You need to got the folder where the game is installed

For steam it should be something like "c:\\program files (x86)\\Steam\\Common App\\[Folder Name I can't Remember]\\Dragon Age 2

Then under "bin_ship" folder is the actual game exe.

DragonAge2.exe (I think)

make a shortcut to it anywhere you want, edit the shortcut and add the enable line to the end, seperated by at least 1 space. More spaces doesn't matter as long as you have at least 1.

Then run the game with that shortcut. It should work.

Unless you have a non-english keyboard you don't have to edit the game file to bind keys.

if you insist on binding keys keep in mind there is no button_'   you have to spell it out  button_tilde or something.  Might have to check exact syntax, this is just off my memory.

This is copy/pasted straight from the Dragon Age Wiki. You will need notepad++ to do this, so google that and download it. It's a freeware source code editor and you'll have to open the file you need to edit with this program.

Another option is to edit the file …\\Dragon Age II\\data\\DragonAge2Launcher.xml (i.e., within your Program Files folder). This will allow you to run the game from its normal shortcut but requires you to edit a game file which should be done carefully and not before making a backup of the file. Find the line

<condition name="FirstRunCheck" type="FileExist" file="${USERDATA_DIR}\\SystemInformation.xml">

The line below should be something like this:

<true action="execute" file="${BINARIES_DIR}\\DragonAge2.exe" path="${BINARIES_DIR}" autoquit="true" />

Add an attribute arguments="-enabledeveloperconsole" to it make it read:

<true action="execute" file="${BINARIES_DIR}\\DragonAge2.exe" path="${BINARIES_DIR}" autoquit="true" arguments="-enabledeveloperconsole" />

when i use the console i can't actually -see- it show up and only know its up because the mouse pointer is greyed out. I can type the commands and execute them though.
