Alright. I have the Signature Edition and I'm running it on Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 32 bit. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650. I have the latest drivers. I've reinstalled the game but I'm still getting the same problem. I click play, and it says "Dragon Age 2 has stopped working." Every single time. My firewall has it permitted it to do whatever, and I don't even have any antivirus software whatsoever that would be in the way. I even got past the release date check. I tried running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 and everything else, NOTHING WORKS! I changed it to DX9 instead of 11 and NOTHING WORKS! I am thoroughly disappointed. I even played the Demo on PC just fine!

For the sake of contrast, I am able to play the game just fine on my Windows 7 laptop. Well, the first time I tried to install it something borked up and I encountered yet another (separate) error after the release date check, but now it's running as it should.

I wish I could say the same. I reinstalled it 3 times with the same problem each time. It just straight up crashes. Absolutely nothing I can do works. It is a sad, sad day for me.

I think it has something to do with the AWC.dll file.

Anyone else had any luck? Tried just about everything I can think of in regards to administration level rights.

Just to add to the growing number of frustrated (eventual) players of this game, I too am having the same problem. I have attempted to create a separate admin account to install the game under. Same problem. I have reinstalled via the pop-up autorun, the on-disc autorun and the on-disc setup.exe. I have shut down all extraneous programs and done a clean boot. I am running the only account on this system as admin. I have tried installing as admin. I've tried running as admin. I've tried tearing out my hair but that didn't help either! Here's hoping that some decade, bioware is able to release a game with no installation bugs!!!

Thanks for the bug reports, everyone. We're looking into it. I assume those of you experiencing this issue are in North America. If you're in Europe, it could just be a case of our datelock system failing in an incorrect way, in which case, the issue will clear up when the game unlocks in your particular region.

Thanks for responding Rob. I am experiencing the issue with my newly arrived Signature edition game also. I'm going to try enabling the hidden administrator account on Win 7/Vista and see if logging in with that makes any difference. I am in North America, currently using Win 7, SP1.

Same problem here. Running XP, though.
I'm the only user/admin on this rig.

ok i was having the same problem but just got it to work. what i did was created a second user account on my computer. a standard account. started da2. it asked for my administrative password for my main account. entered the password and the game went through an activation process and is now working. it seems that the game is having trouble detecting that administrator accounts have the authority to access everything.

I'm on 7 x64 and had luck with running as the administrator account. You'll have to enable the account by following one of the methods on this page. http://blog.eches.ne...trator-account/
