I have the same problem.
North America
XP 32 SP3
DA II Retail version.

Do any of you having this issue have the digital download version? Just curious if this is limited to the retail version or not.

I am thoroughly disgusted by the day's events. After a full day of work and school and parenting, I had grabbed my preorder during my lunchbreak earlier in the day, I rushed home as fast as I could, I plopped into my chair at 9pm and popped in the DVD. I started the install and redeemed all of my codes as I waited for the installation progress bar to fill up, and then when it completed I clicked play, everything authenticated... checked... re-authenticated... re-checked... and then finally after counting the seconds all day long like a kid on Christmas Eve, my game wouldn't run!!!! I tried all the advice I've read here and I think I'm going to this is driving me nuts. I've never bought a Bioware game I haven't absolutely loved, but now I've bought one I can't play, what a way to end my day.

OS: Windows Vista 32bit
I meet all the recommended requirements
Region: North America
Edition: Retail DVD

We should get all DLC for free for having to deal with this. This industry just takes its customers for granted. What an outrage!!! You mean to tell me that this never happen on any test machies that these guys have. They knew this was going to happen but did not have a fix yet. God for bid we dont get our profits first. Sickening!!!!

Same problem.

Australia
Win XP SP3
DA2 Digital Version

Not enough that the release date mysteriously changed on me and was pushed back 29 hours, but now something about not having admin rights when I'm logged in as the admin. It's now 2am and as this is my first pre-order experience ever I doubt I'll do it again. I knew there was a reason I waited until prices dropped and everything was nicely patched...

Most of these problems happen due to strange customer software / hardware relations. In otherwords it is 100% possible that it didnt happen on Bioware's test pc's due to the fact there are millions of different combo's available among its customers.

Not to mention a lot of these errors are caused by anti virus, firewalls and or Drive emulation software.

I know it is excruciatingly frustrating and no one here is at all thrilled that people have bought the game and are not able to play with it.

We are working very hard to try to reproduce this in house and are exploring as many options as we can think of for what specifically is causing the issue and how to work around it.

I know my words are hollow and I'm not surprised that you all are frustrated and upset about this, but it is definitely being thoroughly investigated.

Thank you Allan,

As you said, I will believe the results when I see them in a timely manner, but this helps my willingness to throw money at you and your quality products (this hiccup aside) in the future. I also hope this is a lesson that can be applied to TOR.

Having same issues here (North America, Signature Ed). I just wanted to add what EA support provided as a solution. By the way..it didn't work. It also puts you computer at-risk, so I wouldn't recommend doing it.

Hello My,

Thank you for contacting EA Support regarding Dragon Age 2 Fails to Launch.
I apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused thus far and can understand how this would be frustrating for you. This case has been escalated to me and I would be happy to assist you. Please try activating the default administrator account in Windows by following these instructions:

Windows Vista/7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555910

Once you have done this, please try reinstalling the game there.

Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts game in the future, please visit our web site and review our extensive Self Help Knowledge base (http://support.ea.com). Your reference number is 110308-011295

Sounds like Bioware and EA need to be communicating better. Come on guys...I'm counting you.
